During this pandemic, It was a couple of months that I didnt go to any movie theaters. But when the time they open, I grab the opportunity to watch my favorite movie. I was so happy and comfortable inside the theater because we all wear a mask and observed social distancing.
WONDERFUL!! Everyone needs to come back to the AMC movie theaters! Nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to going to the movies and seeing a new (or old) movie in a theater...I dont care how much streaming you constantly pay for from month to month or what kind of tv you have. Come back to the AMC! I promise, no one will sit next to you!!
An excellent experience. Paying for both tickets and concessions online was an easy and smooth process. Very few people, since this was their first day re-opening since the mandated shut down. Honestly, I was a bit leery about returning to places like movie theaters, because of the pandemic. But once I saw how seriously they are about COVID-19 safety measures, I was impressed. While I wont be attending movies as frequently as before, at least I know theres an option for doing so safely.
A nice theater well kept and clean with a courteous staff. The one thing I would recommend is an upgrade to recliner seats in the theaters.Outside of that I would recommend this theater.
Everything was very clean and tidy. Social distancing and people were wearing their masks. Hand sanitizers and wipes are always in stock and ready to use. Food is always good here and I enjoy the atmosphere.
We like this place! Its clean. Nice staff and there ia alcohol!! Have fun at the movies
As of this month, its been quiet with barely any lines. The seats were almost empty at the time of the previews. The Arcade FTW Chicago inside the building was closed too sadly, so it was a bit of a bust after the movie.
Amazing theater, nice and clean. If your movie has the Dolby option, take it. They have subwoofers in the reclining seats.
The AMC River East 21 is such a beautiful space. I attended the Moth GrandSLAM on 3/21/19 and I had a fantastic time! The event was packed, and I am glad that I got there early! Doors opened at 7 PM, and the show started at 8. My friend and I got in line at around 6:30 which allowed us plenty of time to get checked in and find seats!
I enjoy the experience last week and I am planning to go back tomorrow . I miss going to show and I enjoy myself last week.
My Sons favorite place to watch movies. We love it. Comfortable, Clean, Peaceful and Wonderful Environment. 5 stars
I guess it was ok, only 6 people Theater which I dont mind at all, I enjoyed my self an my love enjoyed his self, his birthday,
Beautiful and huge theater! Loved it! Cant wait for arcade and bowling alley to open again!
Our theater room was the smaller one and the picture and sound was pretty good. Concessions workers were knowledgable about their very large menu. The seats and cup-holders could be cleaner but the experience was better than the last time when my 6yr old went to the bathroom with her mom and the metal toilet paper dispenser (not locked) flew opened and hit my little girl in the head. This time, it was locked and the bathroom experience went smooth.
Watched Tenet here and was impressed with their Covid-19 accommodations. Felt safe and sanitary.
Had a great experience with the Private Screening event.
Narrow parking entrance almost invisible. Cleaner and spacious otherwise.
Great job with having set up for Covid. Wipes available everywhere, hand Dani. Too
Great date night spot! It is very clean, lively, and vibrant. We really loved the vibe! The movie theater is located on the third floor of the complex. When we first arrived the movie theater was very crowded but the employees worked very quickly to process ticket purchases and food from the concessions. There is a parking garage that you have to pay for but you can get your parking validated for 17 dollars. There are multiple levels to the parking garage and they are separated by levels and seasons, which makes it a lot easier to locate your vehicle. There is also a FTW gaming place on the second floor that stays open late and a Lucky Strikes bowling alley. The only drawbacks are that the seats in the movie theater are a little outdated and of course you have to pay for parking. But overall its an ideal spot for a date. We will be returning.
19$ to park with Discount. Yall trippin. Would have been 5 Star.
A great place to get a big theater experience. If you like the communal experience of watching movies with hundreds of other folks around you, laughing, gasping, and holding their breath along with you, this is the place to do it. If you prefer more intimate spaces...look at one of the many independent local theaters in the neighborhoods which also provide great experiences.Keep in mind, it takes a few minutes to get up all the stairs/escalators to the theaters, so dont call it too close!
Anything negative was totally my own fault. I should have known that a leather recliner in a cool dark room is the perfect setup for my body to go to sleep. I may have seen w0 minutes of the movie. A great theater, comfortable and clean with a great choice of snacks. Loved it.
Clean. Comfortable seats. Staff is very professional. Has good accessibility. Just wish there was adult size changing tables in restrooms for children and adults. My sons nurse and I had to put him on the floor of the restroom to change him safely. Not very sanitary. No privacy. Not easy when you have to manuaver120 lbs. of died-weight.
Its nice AMC theatre in downtown ChicagoIt’s really big one where more than 25 movies are running at a time but it’s little expensive as it’s un the downtown Chicago that’s whyThe most of the movie tickets starts from $13 atleast and plus taxes and parking is really very expensive here so it’s better to take L train or bus as that’s gonna be cheaper if you are coming from city or suburbsI m going to this AMC from last 3 years I watched more than 20-25 movies hereThey have the option for IMAX and dolby cinema also depending upon the moviesAlso on middle floor they have two places to do fun activities like pool table, bowling, bar, games and a lot of other fun activities to do
It has the dining area which looks like a complete restaurant/bar and the gaming area for pooling and the likes. The arcade is is just right across the entrance am not sure if its part of the amc or its a place of its own. I had a good time and I think you will too. I didnt watch a movie that day so am not sure what the actual theatre here looks like
A very sizable theatre with plenty of showings for movies that you’ll have a hard time seeing other places, this was the second time I saw a movie here I literally couldn’t find showing anywhere else at the time. The process to use fandango to get into the movie was as buttery smooth as just having my phone scanned upon entry. What could you fault them for? They even have those wonderful million flavor sofa machines! For the record I saw 1917. I only mention it because it won best cinematography, which meant it payed to see on a big high quality screen.I got the experience I needed for a movie of that quality.
The first movie theater I saw a movie at when I moved to Chicago and it is still my favorite. It’s clean, easy to navigate, and ticket prices are not too crazy. I like that you can now reserve your seat as well. I will probably get the membership soon and it will be because of this location.
Musicals and other venues presented at the AMC River East 21 are first class. The theater its self is beautiful in the Art Nouveau style. The lighting and sound are great. It all works together to make a wonderful performance.
Nice venue to see a movie.
Great theatre with lot of screens. Located in the center of downtown which helps you watch a movie and then you can hang around in the downtown. Has 4 ticketing kiosk, so you don’t have to wait long in line to get tickets.Have other gaming areas next to the theatre, where you can hangout with your friends and family before or after the movie.
Upon arrival guest services were extremely helpful and attentive. We decided to grab a bite to eat before the show, unfortunately they were out of gourmet popcorn and substituted my popcorn for tenders instead. With a full refund for the popped corn for the inconvenience. Btw. I will be back for that popcorn, because it sounds delightful. The guy behind the counter told me they are the third most visited in the country so I can imagine that popcorn better be good. :)We walked into theater #7 waited a bit because I am a stickler about being on time. My philosophy is 5 minutes early is 10 minutes late! But we had time to mingle and chit chat get to know who would be loud and who would be tolerable. We sat between two incredibly nice gentlemen. The hostess was absolutely wonderful. Btw... Im still going to be jealous of that trip to Barcelona! Have some fun for me!The movie sound quality, and picture were impeccable! I felt absolutely safe and secure with security around and the reserved seating was nice to not have people treading back and forth to the bathroom and concession. I like the fact the movie was a grownup film, that meant no crying babies and no line of children in their parents wake. I love children but sometimes its nice to have a grownups night:). All in all it was excellent customer service, very clean facility, average priced, and a quality evening! I would recommend! #longshot
Went for a Hindi movie which was actually pretty good. I liked the open seating better than having to reserve a seat (I might be the only one) but they havent really invested in better seating or anything in a long while. Easy to get to for me but I wish they did something to delight customers with the ambience, cleaner restrooms and upgraded theaters.
As theaters go, this AMC offers wide variety of movies. Stadium style seatings are comfortable. Food and popcorn are just as pricey as other theaters. Parking is outrageously expensive. If you live in the area, this is perfect theater for you. Plenty of nice restaurants near the theater. Service and quality of show is no different than other theaters.
Good movie experience. Only hitch was with purchasing the tickets, only one ticket agent working on a Saturday and the kiosk was not user friendly. Clean, clear projection with good sound. I always like picking my seats so I appreciate that at this theater.
Went to see Bad Boys in a Sunday afternoon. Considering how many people typically go to the movies (families especially) on the weekend, I would have expected the concession stand to be fully staffed but there were only 2 people working the registers. It took, at least, 10 minutes to get snacks. AT LEAST. Possibly an anomaly...I like River East, tho. The theatre was clean, the seats were comfy, the movie was fine.
I hadnt been here in a long time. Parking is usually expensive and difficult to find, even though, the theatre has parking. But today, I did find street parking really close by. The complex has a lot of stuff going on there, Bowling, game room and more. The theatre was clean and spacious, the associates were helpful and numerous enough. Just make sure your shoelaces are tied, there are LOTS of escalators.
It used to be a very good theater but I recently saw a movie and they didnt clean anything. It was disgusting having soda spilled and popcorn all over the seat from who knows which crowd. Its really dropped in quality sadly.
I like that there is an arcade and bowling alley at the theater, plenty of things to fill up an evening of fun activities. Great date spot!
Visited after COVID reopening, the theaters are kept very clean and with limited seating
My other favorite AMC theater in Chicago! If you hardly find seat in any AMC theater in Downtown Chicago, please give this theater a try. Most likely you will still get spot(s) since its theater big enough.
Just saw Little Women. Delightful film. We were in Theater 5. There was a high action, loud film in Theater 6 next door. There were times we couldnt hear the Little Women dialogue because the other film was so loud. There was no one at customer service to tell them about it so Im letting them know here.
The sound system and video quality are amazing. The seats are also very comfortable. They also have dedicated seats for handicapped people, which I think is amazing. If you enjoy watching movies on big screens, I highly recommend this place.
I love this place.. They have so much in the building alone. Restaurants bars arcades. This is one of my favorite locations.
We saw Little Women The best coming of age movie I have ever seen. My wife said that the book was even better. 2hrs and 15m.
The sound system and video quality is absolutely amazing with Dolby HDR. The reclining seats are very comfortable. I miss getting food delivered at my seat for the price of the ticket - but that’s just a good to have. They also have dedicated seats for handicapped people, which I think is amazing. If you enjoy watching movies on big screens, I highly recommend this place.
Pretty good theatre, but it leaves a bit to be desired in terms of amenities for guests. Also, the arena seating is never that great compared to the more comfortable chairs at other theatres. Good place overall to see movies but it could be a lot better.
Good place downtown to watch movies. The theaters are a little small for my taste but they have a lot of theaters so you can watch any movie you like. One of the only places in Chicago downtown area which plays Indian movies now and then. If you have AMC stubs and live downtown, then this is just a walk away. I would rate the Navy Pier IMax as #1 - can’t beat the sound quality and screen size, North Michigan 9 dine in - comfortable and big as #2, State Street AMC - but has less options in movies - as #3 and this as #4.
Went here with friends recently to see the movie 1917 great service and also has reclining chairs!! if your in the neighborhood and looking to go to a comfortable theater I definitely recommend going to this one!!
I hate coming to this theater because the location isnt convenient and the parking isnt great.I do love the sights and sound in the Dolby Cinema. That is a great presentation. So why arent all of the theaters this level of quality?
Scary, confusing entrance. Much too much preshow. Comfy though and well staffed
Not my first choice for a regular movie night but this theater shows ALL THE MOVIES. If I want to see something that isnt playing anywhere else, I can always count on AMC River East. There is a full bar if you want to grab a drink or play some games. Its always a good time, its just hard to get downtown sometimes.
Very good place to watch movies. More screens, Dolby and very comfort theatres
Nice dine-in theater in a downtown mall, but the service could he faster. Drinks should come out in 10m or less.
Very niceovie theater. Right next to lucky strike bowling. Love all the movie murals painted on the walls. Also, the bar is very nice with a great selection.
Saw The Shadow(2018), which didnt play anywhere in the suburbs. So first time ever we took a trip to Chicago to watch a movie. Half an hour into it people from the theatre came and took a family out - no idea what happened, but it was handled quickly and as quiet as the leaving family allowed.Great experience when combined with a walk in the area and visits to few great places to eat.
I love reserved seating in theatres. Ive been there a few times and cant say anything bad about the place.
Nice theater, clean, comfortable. Convenient parking in the building - just make sure you remember with some detail where you parked your car.
Need an upgrade just like the Amc Yorktown but regardless love the atmosphere. Make sure the theatre is clean from the seats to the floors. Thank you kindly....
I really like this movie theater, arcade, bowling alley, and bar. It cost $17for the first 2hr of parking in the garage connect to the theater, or you can park on the street. Great place for a date or team building .
Masks, social distancing and cleaning are in full effect. No cash accepted. We and two additional groups were in the entire theater. Although deeply rooted in the second phase on C19, now really is a gr8 time to enjoy a movie.
Lost a purse here and returned to try and find it. Rachel at guest services could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Purse still lost but I really appreciated the effort
Very nice place fun playing games and bowling and food good too.
This is the only place they show Asian movies. I dont like the sitting compare to the newer one. That why I give it a four star.
A strength of this theatre is definitely its variety in movies and amenities. The movie ticket prices are reasonable. Food and drinks on the other hand...may cost you a pretty penny and their size isnt enough. For example, The chicken and waffles; two small waffles and one small piece of chicken is not worth 7 plus dollars. Curly fries are bomb tho
Of all the theaters Ive gone to in Chicago, I can say with certainty that this is one of the best in the city. Quick accessible entrance; option to buy the tickets at a kiosk without speaking to any body; game arcade and bowling alley at location; big theater so they have great movie selections! I love this place! My $5 Movie Tuesdays are spent here every week!
Great venue with comfortable seats. Good movie choice selection, enjoyable experience.
Very clean and modern. Comfy seats, good sound, and decent movie prices. $25.00 for two drinks and a popcorn is ridiculous but what are you gonna do? No free refills on popcorn unless your a club member. Kinda stinks.
Good to be back ️
Good place with lot of screens to watch from
First off, we get here to see the Equalizer II, which posted online starts at 8:45PM. Get here and they state theres no showing at that time, because online does not update frequently. So we decide we want to leave and you still have to pay $17 to validate your parking, we havent even been here for 10 minutes. Ultimately, we decide to stay and watch a movie and the majority of the seats look like this. Do you not clean these damn seats? If I could give zero stars I would. First and last time visiting here
Clean and efficient when dealing with pandemic
Best movie theater in Chicago. Great variety of movies, movie projectors are properly calibrated, and alternative films are shown frequently.
I like that this theatre has traditional seating and not the narrow recliner seats like other AMC theatres. This is how movie theatres should be. I dont need food brought to me while Im at my seat. More theatres need to go back to this design.
That’s Were we saw Angry Birds Movie 2
Nice theater. Clean, good food options, several screens. Comfortable theaters.
They have comfortable, large, reclining seating with cup holders. there are reserved seats for some events. they have scanners so they can do electronic tickets. they have beer prices that you would expect ($11 for a 24oz draft beer). its a bit of a walk from normal river north places, like all streeterville stuff. kind of confusing to walk back to the trains from here along the river
There must be dozens of movie theaters throughout Chicago including at least half a dozen downtown. But for over a decade now when you say youre going to the movies in Chicago, this is probably the theater must people think of by default. Its massive, has a bowling alley and now a top VR Arcade and a bar, the food menu is expansive (one of the only places where I can get Chicken Fingers and Cheese Fries at a theater) and you can come here to geek out opening night for all the big fandom movies.
Great place to watch movies. The seats could be more comfortable though. Easily accessible by public transport. Located in the heart of downtown
Big theater with an arcade and mini golf and bowling, perfect for killing time. Love the arcade games, a lot of them inspired by phone games like flappy bird and angry bird but also some good boardwalk style games to throw basketballs and footballs. The city mini golf looked fun but we didn’t try it. Theater rooms themselves are a little small and seats don’t recline.
The theatre seats are a bit dated, but overall a clean theatre. The staff is very nice! Arcade is fun, all the games were working & not outdated with a bar located inside.
Im torn here.. so much potential its cringeworthy. Used to be my favorite theater! Excellent location as it sits so close to the lake and surrounded by gorgeous buildings. Beercade and Bowling alley on the floor below along with the box office which makes this a potentially perfect date night location. The layout couldnt be anymore perfect.!HOWEVER the staff, like in many Chicago theaters is very bottom of the barrel when it comes to service. Slow service with 0 personality, everyone looks like theyre being forced to be there. The auditoriums are nice and big with most having recliners and high ceilings. Discounted parking available but still downtown pricing.
This is a great place to have fun. The location has a game room and bowling alley. The prices are reasonable and the workers are cool. The location surrounds a Walgreens, Target down the street, restaurants, and other stores. This is a nice place to bring your kids, go on a date, hang out with friends, and family. This is a nice landmark for Chicago.
Visited here yesterday with my niece. Staffs were nice and were friendly. Comfy seating and they have a good sound system.
Its huge! And you have arcades to play in til your movie starts and its always clean and food there
Great location for public transportation. If you must drive the parking is under $20. Movie tickets are responsibly priced. Clean theater, lobby and bathrooms. Great place to make a night of it with a movie, dinner and bowling.
Havent been to the theater but the arcade is really cool, could spend hours there.
Excellent theater. Its rarely crowded. Clean environment. Affordable tickets. If you are a monthly moviegoer, highly recommend get AMC Stubs membership. $5 ticket Tuesday, Free refills is a must. Plus it has a bowling arena on the second floor, and a arcade center. Not too many loud and rude movie goers which make the movie experience enjoyable. It could be a little difficult finding it if you never been. But if your going to navy pier youll find it relatively easy. This movie theater is top notch all around. I adore it.
The theater was clean all employees were responsible and the price was great family had a great time
My go to amc you have to go for the recliner seats. Now I cant go back. This is a pretty clean theater.
BEWARE!! This is by far the WORST theater I have been to in my 36yrs of life surprisingly!! Seats were $25 and what I got was no were near that worth! I took my wife and 2 kids spent over $100 buying snacks and drinks to arrive to plain stiff seats that dont even recline which is standard now a days at your average Theater! Then 5 minutes into the movie the projector shuts down! As the staff enters the theater to acknowledge the fact and asks us all to wait patiently...45 minutes later staff enters again to inform everyone that will not be working for the evening!! No refund was given even though I had every right to request and receive it!! Only a free pass for myself and my family to attend a movie at a later time at any AMC theater!! NO THANKS, not if this is how you operate as company! Such poor customer relations! NEVER AGAIN!! BEWARE!!!
This place has always been up to the mark. Staff is polite and helpful. Auditoriums are clean. Overall its a good place for a movie night.
I enjoy going to this theater. It has great memories of me and my cousin. But this theater also is convenient if we are headed to Navy Pier and it rains. Its in a great location and is easy to get to.
Had fun and enjoyed but....spent a lot of money
Like this AMC a lot. Good location. Have seen some great advance screenings here. Staff is usually good but have had many experiences where some inexperience is shown. Not understanding the stubs card benefits for example. But usually they are good. Always have a nice movie experience here.
Seats could have been more comfortable but the theater was nice.
Good location. Still offers Tuesday specials. Nice projectors. And amazing surround sound. The only problem was the volume was extremely high.
