A one-of-a-kind museum with short-term and permanent collections of outsider art. I loved viewing the dioramas by Marvin Tate, especially while listening to the associated music collaborations he did. The Henry Darger exhibit is not to be missed.

Excellent small museum which focuses on outsider art and is the only one that does across the US. Visit and learn about Henry Dargers past and artwork and visit the room that he lived in for years. Certainly a great space amd a great find in the city.

It’s a small space for a small price but it has a wonderful collection and the exhibits we saw were displayed well. I am a huge fan of folk and outsider art so I was happy to find a gallery that catered to that specific genre.

This art center is nice, its small but has interesting finds. Youll spend probably 20-30 min here, depending on how interested you are in the art on exhibit.

Intuit changes the artwork there every so often so you can visit to see new works presumably every month or two. They do have restrooms along with a gift shop (some things are subject to be overpriced; Intuit shirts are $20). The second floor is for staff so dont try to go upstairs; feel free to explore the first floor as you want. Their opening and closing times are reasonable, and they were able to replicate an entire room from the mid/late 1900s which you can find in the back in which you can find out about the background from reading the displayed plaques. They show a good variety of different forms of visual artwork from 2D to 3D with different sculptures, art styles, designs, and more. Nice place to visit in your free time and could potentially somewhat be a romantic place depending on the couples taste.

A hidden gem to be sure. The Henry Darger room and collection of work is absolutely the highlight of the museum. His life and his art are fascinating and should be seen by all. I was also surprised to see some of the works of Chicago icon Wesley Willis. The last star is simply pending the proposed redesign of the building, which looks to be spectacular. Very excited to be a member to this great museum.

One of the very few galleries of its kind in the world. A temple for unrecognized talent, and an antidote for the often-appalling excesses of the commercial art market. Also, probably the only art museum one could describe as important, powerful, intense, beautiful - and also adorable.

The food is great and the staff works there butts off but ever since they sold out to this company the amount off beef on my big beef sandwich is alot less. The best advice I can give to Portillos is if something works dont change it

Be an insider to outsider art. Whether or not you are into outsider art, Intuit is compulsory visit for anyone interested in exploring little known artists charting their own creative history. On a recent visit, I saw an impressive collection of black folk art made of found objects covering themes of religion and sex. The small gallery also feature intriguing anonymous art from the Kinsey Institute Collection. Poetically perverse. Oh, and there is the incredible Henry Darger Room! Not to be missed. Pay as you wish. Please donate generously. Im into it.

A unique museum that displays truly eye opening work by self taught artists that you would never get to see anywhere else. They also have a lovely gift shop with truly unique items like original work by local artists at an affordable price.
