Weird statuses and beautiful at grand park chicago
FYI of the intent:The name Agora refers to the urban meeting places of the Ancient Greek city-states. Abakanowicz, who grew up during World War II, has said that her art draws on her fear of crowds, which she once described as brainless organisms acting on command, worshiping on command and hating on command.source: Alan G. Artner (16 November 2006). Provocative achievement in Grant Park. Chicago Tribune. HighBeam.com. p. 1. Archived from the original on 6 November 2012.
Visited the area and the view of this art was observed from our hotel window. Pretty creepy and the kids certainly didnt appreciate it. Not sure what the artist is trying to interpret here but I get the feeling of people walking around mindlessly.
We did some wedding photos here. Is was good. Away from most of the tourists and punk teenagers
A true piece of art Cast Iron most fitting for a city that loves its Steele / Cast Iron. A piece of great art that surrounds you and lets you wonder through as if it were a maze!
The sculptures are nice. They bring a lot of detail. But the main thing is. That they are showing heart of the City. Which is nice. I recommend coming here to see something different. I wish I had public bathrooms.
Agora is definitely an interesting collection of sculptures right in downtown Chicago. It sort of reminds me of dementia or mental illness, Im not sure why... On a lighter note, If you find yourself in the area its surely worth a stop.
A homless man spit in my face here. Luckily police were nearby. I also play pokemon go here. Its a nice place.
Nice park for sitting on the lawn and getting some sun or one of the shaded benches. However must love dogs.
Visiting Grant Park enjoyed the art work.
Quite interesting looking at legs as we walked to the Shedd Aquarium
Cool teeth. Or w.e. sculpture tastes weird
I dont know what to stay but theyre very strange and a little bit creepy up close. They make a wonderful landmark though.
Really interesting if you like legs and sculptures. Nice park. Wish there were more shady benches. Peeps dont curb their dogs despite the signs. So expect random unleashed pups to run up on you (and your small children) and their owners to tell you that it is okay, cause it is really their place to tell you how you should feel when they break the rules.
Art is in that place are beauty of and man idea love it simply good
A unique place to see near field museum
Definitely come here if you are into Art.
Its so nice to walk .. In this area or even bike rife they have a divy bike rental
Cool sculptures and you are right near a skate park and a nice little walk to the lake.
Giant headless and armless figures, placed as people in a large city, some mingling, some walking in different directions, etc. Interesting.
I feel like its a baby Stonehenge
Very interesting to see. Beautiful area around it.
Great park, sadly beware of stupid people randomly trying to bother you once it gets dark
Its really something to see. Very unique
Loved the sculpture. Meaning behind it was a jolt to our system.
Ive lived in the neighborhood long enough to remember seeing the sculptor place these Cor-ten steel beauties. They are a wonderful public art addition to downtown Chicago. Comedian Robin Williams was instrumental in bringing this art to Chicago.Great photo opp.And yes, there are lots of dogs who live in this neighborhood and roam this part of the park. The South Loop is home to the highest dog census in the city... The dumb sign about curbing your dog is due to the fact that park goers apparently thought dog urine caused rust on the sculpture. Hard to explain that rust 15 feet high...
Pretty cool legs to check out. If you have a long wait at Lou Malnati’s pizza or something, here is a nice walk to check it out before going back. Northing really too special, but it is very cool. Also a nice and quiet place away from the bustling noise of Chicago.
One of Chicagos beautiful sculptures.
Such a beautiful work of art.
It is exactly what it says it is. I stood there wondering what I was looking at for a minute.
Ive always thought this was interesting
Agora was built between 2004 and 2006 and I found these sculptures really ugly.
Fun, quick stop while exploring
Beautiful memorial park with many impressive tall leg sculptures. Nice art creation worth a quick visit.
Worth checking out!
As with most Art its a bit out there. DONT walk on the grass, Ive never seen so much dog cack in my life all in one place!
Nice sculptures with playing area nearby
Giant sculptures you can walk amongst and through. Good photo op.
This statue will make you feel small and lost. Very moving as thats pretty much what the artist was intending. Also the detail on the individuals is crazy - youll have to see it yourself.
No explanation of sculpture. little sign about artist. its big.
Place to take pictures and Ill sew play hide-and-seek
Got to take pics there
I only go for the raids
Lost between feet.
I love this sculpture. Please bring more sculptures to Chicago.
Very cool!
Nice Location...
Very interesting
Interesting from afar. Up close, crotches in your face.
Interesting installation.
I love walking among the large bronze legs, but feel that they overdid it. Instead of 106, they could have done better by just using 56 or even 66. When you stand next to one, you feel small and feel the artwork. But when you are surrounded by many, its like being in a forest among tall trees. You cant absorp the unique beauty of a few among you because there are just too many around you and it tends to overwhelm you. But its still worth checking out if visiting Chicago or even if you live in the Chicagoland area.
Too many legs without heads, haha. One can do some good photography from this place. In all direction, theres different type of scene.
Walking through really gives you a true sensation of agoraphobia in a big crowd. City people are often faceless, we see them one second and theyre gone the next. Yet they loom everywhere....The sculptures themselves provide some pretty cool pictures.
Its worth to make a stop here to explore these giant legs!
Cool sculpture installation
A must see....
Interesting exhibit. Worth some fun pics.
The history behind it

If you have a foot fetishes, this is the pave for you!
Great art
Such fun!
Get lost among the headless and armless sculptures located on the south end of Grant Park. There is a DIVVY bike rental if you too tired to walk back to hotel..
