Drinks are great and we enjoyed the live music but some old woman was going table to table with the tip jar (still attached to the stand) shaking people down for money. Very uncomfortable and inappropriate. I dont even think the guy performing was aware of it since he had stepped away. She even accosted a group of people who had just shown up and hadnt so much as gotten drinks yet. Please handle this in the future.

Beautiful new facility with a great selection of IPAs and innovative blends of hard seltzers. Lauren, in the tap room, was friendly and knows their brews as she made tasting recommendations for us to try. Great beer, awesome staff and the eclectic indoor/outdoor seating made for a great experience.

Great handcrafted beer. Some other breweries offer more varieties of beer. But often less varieties are better than too much. Thats why the taste here was really great. Friendly staff, although they could ask a little more often they costumers. I enjoyed it there. Small snacks like Pretzel and boiled peanuts. Ill be back.

This only gained 3 stars because the beers we tried were really good. However, it’s very hot (no AC) and the fans were blowing out of the building instead of circulating inside. There were flies and mosquitoes everywhere. The worst part of this experience, was the indescribable, nearly unbearable, smell around the building that lingers inside. I was gagging walking back to my car.

Visiting from Ohio, Checked out Palmetto Brewing today, beer is pretty good! HOWEVER....bartender with short red dyed hair is NOT friendly....at all.. so try and avoid her if youre just trying to enjoy your vacation. After asking us what we wanted then not listening to our order and instead talking to the other bartender, she proceeded to ring us up incorrectly then come to our table 10 minutes later to correct it. Could tell she really hated having to correct HER mistake. Usually something id overlook but when the bartender is rude to you for interrupting their time looking at their cell phone its hard to have the upper hand! Anyways, probably would suggest just picking up a six pack at a local gas station.. still really good beer!

I just tried the Huger Street IPA. It is so easy to drink compared to some IPAs that just seem heavy. It is perfect, especially for IPA drinkers, for a hot summer day like today.

Good beers. Very solid. Nothing to blow your mind, unfortunately. Horchata beer was good. So was the strawberry rhubarb PB&J. I dont necessarily know that I agree with whoever awarded it whatever made it award-winning, though. Huger Street IPA is a solid, but again, un-special IPA. Tried a sip of my wifes caramel macchiato beer. Cool concept and well-executed. A tad too sweet, but thats probably to be expected.

Extremely friendly bartenders. A warm, somewhat ski lodge-like vibe. Went on a colder day so the patio was not being used. The flights are reasonably priced at $8-10 with generous pours. The magic juice was light despite the 9.5% abv. Looking forward to going back!

Palmetto Brewing is a great brewery and drinking experience. It is cool to have a venue like this in the Charleston area. It works well for an event space and I have attended several events here. I really like that there is plenty of free parking nearby and I always seem to be able to find a space close by. They have so many drink choices that it is hard to choose sometimes which is a good thing as everything that I have tried so far has been great.

As were sitting and drinking our beers outside (as its the only place we can sit with our dog) were overwhelmed by the smell of garbage and sewage that permeates their courtyard. It’s hard to tell if it’s the garbage containers, construction portijohns, or dug up sewage. But our experience here is ruined. Good beer, but they need to fix up their site to make it habitable.

It was nice to talk about home!We drank:Left:Key Lime White Stout.Brewed with pale malts and oats and rested on 17 lbs of roasted almonds, then dosed with lime purée to transform this white stout into a liquid key lime pie.Citrusy/Nutty/Creamy.Right:Mango Sriracha GoseKettle soured with a pinch of sea salt, packed with sweet mango, a hint of hop bitterness, and some bonus Vietnamese- style heat.Sweet/Sour/Heat

We stopped in on a whim during a weekend in Charleston. Honestly one of the best breweries we have visited in a while. They were playing bingo for Grandparents day during Charleston Beer Week. Two people in our group won. I am also not much of a beer drinker and Jackie the bartender did everything she could to find something I would like. Great atmosphere, great beer and the best customer service of any brewery in a long time. We will be back with more friends when we come back to Charleston!

Been here three years in a row. Loved the grapefruit beer and this brewery. Was expecting that this visit. Taptender tells us you dont make the grapefruit anymore with no explanation. We visit from up north once or twice a year. The two female taptenders were more interested in some guy at the bar than us. No customer service. No reason to come back. We have found some really great breweries in the Charleston area and Palmetto is NOT on that list anymore.

Ive been to 225+ breweries and brewpubs. Palmetto had decent, clean beer - but they typically stick to traditional styles. The bartenders were friendly, and the taproom space was inviting. I was really impressed with their digital tap list that showed how much beer was left in each keg - first time Ive seen this. Overall, this is a great place for some beers.

The new “renovation” is the destruction of the deck/loading dock (where they had concerts) which was the best thing they had going. They added a warehouse section for more space but it’s subpar. Beer has always been just ok compared to other breweries in town.

Im from Virginia. In Charlottesville, a 10 mile radius, there five times more breweries than within 5 miles of the Palmetto Brewery. Not having much competition provides for high ratings, I guess. I liked their ghost pepper IPA and espresso porter. Everything else was kinda boring and tasted like I made it at home with a generic kit when I was 22. The main area had a band and a bunch of bench seating. I tasted a beer there and asked why they only sold 4. I was told to go to the tasting room, which was down the bathroom hallway and was a classic bar setup. It was rather chic. The service was poor even with only 3 other patrons on a Friday night at 8 pm. As it began to get busier it became impossible to get a drink even when locking eyes with my server and holding my glass up politely in the universal sign of, please get me a beer. Id only had the two drinks so I definitely hadnt been overserved. My friend had the exact same problem. We paid and left to go to Reverly, a short walk away. The beer wasnt that good. My friend is a super beer snob and he was utterly unimpressed as well. The service was atrocious. I went to 4 other breweries while local. Ill never go back or recommend it.

An
Review №87

No dedicated walk up line at the bar. Why? Why is this not a thing? Like only two breweries Ive been to have ever had this and palmetto was not one of them. After we fought through the crowd and forced ourselves up to the bar the beer was good. They had about 10 beers on tap and a good range of styles. Live music outside was loud which forced a lot of people inside so there was really no place to escape. It was ok.
