Great mile loop around the perimeter and some of the only dirt/gravel trails on the peninsula. On weekend mornings the park is closed to cars, which makes it great for a protected bike ride. Pretty variety of trees and flowers throughout.
Nice part. It had a duck pond and plenty of open field and sitting areas. The jogging/ bike path are well maintained. The park has hours where the roundabout is closed to traffic to open if the road for more walking and biking. This is also good for roller skating
It has been years since I have been to Hampton Park. I ate at a restaurant nearby with a few friends so we decided to take a walk to the park. I had forgotten how pretty it is and all of the trails that it offers to walk. It was a nice day so several people were out there jogging, riding bikes, walking with their kids and walking their dogs. It was a nice family feeling environment. The houses around the peripheral of the park are very nice. It is a great place to take a nice walk.Theres a huge fountain in the center with a lot of Canadian geese. The walkway and bridge around it are very cool but you have to watch out for the landmines that the Canadian geese leave. One of my friends has lived here for over 20 years and didnt know about this park. Shes very excited to bring her family when they come to visit next month. Its very beautiful and its free!!
Multi-purpose park that welcomes cyclists, runners, walkers, children, seniors, etc. Love walking this park during my lunch break. Well shaded. Good people and tree watching. Next door to The Citadel, handsome runners. Lots of pedestrians walking during lunch hours, feels safe. It has pretty, mature trees. Little pond that usually has ducks, our children love to feed them. Good park for all ages. Dogs must be leashed. If your a tourist, I recommend you stop by The Citadel...lovely campus. Vehicle park parking. Olmsted inspired.... Charleston budget.
Beautiful place! For more than just a few reasons
Beautiful and peaceful. The talking statue is so cool.
Beautiful park with lots of places to explore. It has tons of beautiful old trees and plants to check out. There is a really nice fountain with plenty of ducks and geese. We also found rental bikes to make a really nice day in the park. If youre a runner, this would be a great place to run.
Great park for multitude of activities. Hike, picnic, ride bike or run the 1 mile loop.
Large park with well maintained landscaping. Blooming flowers and trees throughout, with a nice pond and fountain in the middle. Paths are clean and easy to walk or bike on. Benches are throughout, some sunny and some shaded. Some dog bag stations along the path would be nice.
One of the most gorgeous spots in Charleston. Im continually impressed by the folks who manage the planting; theres always something flowering no matter what time of year. Great place to run, hang out, take photos, and appreciate nature.
Clean, inviting and full of beautiful flowers & vegetation. Excellent place to walk your dog. Will be back!
Beautiful beautiful park in Charleston. Ill definitely be visiting again!
Rain or shine, I love this place. It’s become a staple for me calling Charleston “home.” You have the outer track (1 mile around) to safely walk, run, bike, rollerblade. Or the inside trails to mix things up. A fountain and beautiful gardens of flowers. The amazing array of trees is what I love most. It’s by far my favorite place to do laps. Also just noticed they have a summer series: live music, food trucks, bring coolers, etc. Love it!
Children memories,there was a sm. Zoo,Years ago,there.but now a place to walk or run,quiet,beautiful trees&flowers..I had lunch,I brought there.from kahuna poke,in mt.pleasnt.,s.c.
Very peaceful except for our dauschund who was barking his tail off. Flowers and plants were beautiful. Very clean for a public park.
Nice place to run. The dirt track is long and soft! You can run on the perimeter of the park too.
Beautiful place to unwind and take in nature
Hampton Park is one of my favorite parks and places to visit in Charleston. This park has so much to offer and see that every time you visit you can see something new that you did not notice before. There is plenty of space and room to move around from all sides of the park and enjoy it.The park is very well maintained and and landscaped with so many flowers, plants, and big trees to climb on that you can look around and really take everything in. This park is perfect for a picnic or just taking a quiet moment to relax and reflect.I have been coming to this park from ever since I could remember and it seems to get better and better each year with constant improvements and good additions.
This was a nice, fairly small park that my wife and I visited on a Thursday evening just after 7PM. Coincidently, the park is closed to through traffic on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6PM-8PM (I believe for March through September). We had no trouble parking (for free), but there was nothing super exciting about this park as a visitor to the Charleston area. It would be good for a run or bike ride while it is closed to through traffic as it has an oval shaped road around the park itself.
Excellent parkVery sereneThe natural landscaping is the best thingVery spaciousFamily friendly
Gorgeous!! Great for pictures! You could explore there for hours!
Fantastic park. Lots of doggos. Great for exercise. Lots of trees. Nice fountain. I LOVE THE DUCKS AND GEESE AND THE OCCASIONAL SEAGULL.10/10
A beautiful gem in Charleston with a rose pavilion and a gazebo. Walking paths surround the park with flowers everywhere in August.
Really nice park to walk and exercise in. There are excellent walking paths all through the park with exercise equipment to use as you run through the park. There are plenty of places to sit and have a picnic, along with pavilions to get out of the sun and maybe have a get together. A lot of parking available and bikes to rent from Holy Spokes if you want to get somewhere else in the city.
Such a beautiful park! A friend of mine told me she got married here and nows shes got me thinking about doing the same! Swans and flowers and the fresh charolsten air!
Beautiful park - quiet in the mornings for a walk or run. I loved spending my vacation nearby and walking through the park in my way for coffee and breakfast. Lots of workout stations around the perimeter for a guided workout if you so choose. Overall very clean and well tended. Lots of benches for relaxing.
Looking around the park to find the best place to have our wedding ceremony. We loved the views. Just wish we knew how to go about it.
Never had a bad time here. My wife and i got married under one of the oaks a few years back and its always special for us to hang our here.
A hidden gem in the city of Charleston. Surprising many locals dont even know about it. Beautiful park for a picnic or even a family photoshoot.
Probably my favorite park in downtown Charleston. This fairly large park is beautiful year-round and my favorite place to take my dog on a long walk, go for a bike ride, enjoy a picnic or come with a book to read. I enjoy that is is a little off the beaten path so you’ll mostly find locals here as it’s not really a tourist destination. I generally bring a blanket to sit in the grass but there are plenty of benches and tables as well all throughout the park. Also as someone who enjoys photography as a hobby this can be a great spot to snap some beautiful nature shots.
I LOVE THIS PARK!! It is HUGE, with so much to see there. It is beautifully landscaped and holds the best festivals and events for adults and kids! It is also surrounded by a circular drive, so it is a great place to run or ride bikes.
Such a BEAUTIFUL park. Had a great walk with my friends and her dog. Dog/family friendly.
Love exercising at the park, for the most part its always a pleasant place to be, but some of the cars drive too fast.
Hampton Park is truly a hidden gem of Charleston. From the outside, it appears to be a normal park; however, after a leisurely stroll, anyone can tell that the park is special. A beautiful pond like area resides in the middle of the park and some of trees in this area are simply breathtaking. As a local I make it a point to visit the park 3-4 times a year at a minimum.
It was a very peaceful friendly environment.
Right in the suburban area of Charleston sits this wonderful park. It is very well kept. There are blooming flowers and interesting trees to see at all times of the year.
Large park with room to enjoy the shade, rent a bike, or just enjoy a nice stroll. Its away from downtown but the trip is worth it.
Nice park great spots to take photos
Very nice park but road work made it hard to get to but once finished it should move up in stars
Great park. Top score. Good for all sorts of park like activities. Plenty of shade.
Hampton Park is a large, multi-purpose outdoor space that is great for families, cyclists, runners, and anyone wanting to enjoy some time in nature. There are two loops around the park - one for walking, the other for cycling and/or running. Ducks, geese, and sometimes swans frequent the main pond. There is also a circuit course with about 16 stations for those wanting to get additional body weight training in. Several water fountains, though know that in the summer, the water will be quite warm!
Great place for a run or strol in the park with the pup.
A great park that needs the City of Charleston to run off Canada s large birds that make walking around very messy plus the water ponds need a lot of work to get the water clear and safe. We loved the selection of hundreds of year old trees. And we want the construction going on there to be speeded up and finished in New York speed.
This park is exquisite, breezy, and full of magical trees and flowers
Very nice and quiet park. The parking is limited for the size of the park. The walking/ running paths are dirt and fine gravel. There is a paved biking path, but it is not protected from car traffic. Also be aware of excessive poop around the water from ducks.
Hampton Park was okay. However, it was heavily unkept. The fountain water was so filthy, like sewer water, as a matter of fact. It was not a enjoyable experience.
The kids enjoyed our nature walk to the park. The park is designed for multiple ages, however, the swings are only for babies and toddlers.
Such a beautiful place. Can’t wait to bring my daughters here. Great place for a break from work to relax
To say this park is beautiful would be an understatement. I could stay here all day.
The peace is undeniable. Harmonic and tranquility..
Beautiful hidden gem of Charleston. 1920s era style of park. Great for a picnic, wedding, or place to relax and meditate.
Beautiful and so much space! We loved the Denmark Vesey Memorial!
Love this park! It’s almost like you’re in a different city. So quiet, and so relaxing. Great place for a picnic, a walk or a run.
Great safe location to go running or biking and nearby and a play area for children. Theres also a giant field across the street Were you can play lacrosse, football, or soccer. On the other side of the field and next to the childrens play area there is a basketball court with the 4 goals. There are workout devices all throughout the park and a place where you can feed ducks and other wild birds. Definitely a place worth looking into for a wedding location as Ive seen a lot of weddings conducted here due to the beauty of the location. Surprisingly this is also a great 1st date location.
Lovely place to spend time with family and nature
Aways a nice place to run or walk, only thing today it started to rain,so had to leave early
Pretty local park.
Ive been going there for 70 years. Beautiful as ever. Lots of changes over time. A wonderful place to walk and relax.
Nice place to visit.
Good one.
Hampton Park is one of my favorite public parks in town! As a Charleston family, children, and senior portrait photographer, it offers the perfect backdrop to explore and create a wide variety of beautiful images! From the huge live oak trees, to the knarly crape myrtle trunks, to the fields of flowers, to the long walkways, to the white gazebos, to the amazing duck pond...theres something fun in this park everywhere you look!!!
Theres a nice Paved path that goes around the lake and through different types of foliage. At the lake our docs and sometimes swans or geese. The park usually is not crowded and it’s very enjoyable to take an extensive walk around the perimeter
Great place to walk, relax, or play. Tons of beautiful flowers and trees.
Such a peaceful treasure that we have in Charleston. Flowers were starting to bloom little children playing just a great place to visit!
It has been a long time since I went to Hampton Park. A friend and I went for a walk and I was pleasantly surprised by how much things were upgraded! Im looking forward to going back when the trees and flowers are in full bloom! Nice place to just chill.
Love this park, this is to downtown Charleston what central park is to NYC.
Great place for a walk.
Amazing spot for an outing or wedding
Though its a park, its history is what makes this landmark one of the most important in Charleston and our Nation. After reading A History of Charlestons Hampton Park by Kevin R. Eberle, Hampton Park is a definite must see for both locals and visitors. For the little ones, feeding the ducks is great on a nice day too.
Beautiful park with lots of ducks and other birds!
Love taking the children to feed the ducks and climb the oak trees. This is the best time of year to visit, cool, camelias are in bloom, just bring bug spray for no see ums and bread for the ducks. Great place to picnic, take a walk, work out, ride your bike.
Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! Always a great respite!
Peaceful spot to eat lunch or go for a walk. Very good area for photos. Many weddings have been performed here
This is a huge park! Very beautiful. Lots of bike paths and benches. Very serene
Beautiful park. Ive been coming here for years. My husband grew up here and I see why its such a treat to live in Charleston.
Love this place.
Grew up playing there as a kid and love returning.
A large inner city park. Jogging, biking, etc. Fountains. Open grassy areas. Trees and floral paths. Pet friendly. Pond with ducks. Special events.
AWESOME. Attended the Teddy Bear Picnic with my grandchildren March 1 and had a ball and enjoyed Hampton Parks beauty too.
Like a fairy tale
Great place to relax and take some amazing photos.
Nice place to visit
This is a great park! Lots of area to walk or ride a bike. A couple cute ponds with lots of ducks! Plenty of shaded areas for a quiet picnic. Also many beautiful locations to take pictures.
Great ace to walk.
Great place for walking, running, relaxing, photography etc. Watch out for the geese poop lol.. pet friendly
Ive always said I wish the trees can talk. The stories they could tell. This park is right outside of the Citadel, the former home of the rainbows baseball team and the site for Walk MS many years. Where else can you find huge live oaks, a beautiful place for picnic and a duck pond all at one time.
Absolutely beautiful.
Perfect weather for a day in this beautiful park.
Charlestons do everything park. With a gazebo or two water features and abundant fields theres never not enough space. Also azalea season in the spring is nothing short of magical
Lovely pathways lined with Live Oaks, Crape Myrtles, and native plants. Seasonal plantings. Beautiful, tranquil ponds and fountain...a gem!
Beautiful and peaceful place
Lived around the corner. Been going there for over 51 years. Beautiful place I Allways go to chill out...
Great place, view, food and service!
Beautiful landscaping with a large pond and fountain. Love going here for a peaceful walk
Really nice park to walk and exercise in. There are excellent walking paths all through the park with exercise equipment to use as you run through the park. There are plenty of places to sit and have a picnic, along with pavilions to get out of the sun and maybe have a get together.
