If you are Catholic or non-Catholic please set time in your schedule to stop by the Cathedral. You need to see the finished renovations. Im absolutely in love with the ceiling. They nailed it! Not that it was bad before, but seriously a 10/10 on the hard work. Walk around the inside of the church to see all the beautiful stain-glass windows. (Side-note: my absolute favorite moment of the year here is Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. You must experience this once in your life).

The architecture in this building is absolutely stunning. Believe it or not, the inside is even more beautiful than the exterior. This is a must-see in Charleston!

The stained glass was mesmerizing and I simply stared in wonder longer than I realized. Almost an hour slipped by and I was super later to an appointment. Just dropped by and got lost in the art. Recommend doing the same. but its not something to add as a quick stop. If you like art, then give yourself at least 30 minutes and make it a Zen thing. Take your time! The stations of the cross are also incredibly detailed works surrounded by woodworking so intricate, that Im not sure our society could do it anymore. (i.e., other end of the spectrum from IKEA!!)

We went to the solemn sung Mass at 11:15 and it was so incredibly reverent and beautiful. I cannot wait to come back to celebrate Mass here again one day.

Very interesting textured brick work on the original building. They added on in 2009 to finish the tower. Very interesting. Would love to go back and tour the inside.

I love the architecture of this church. It is a little unique compared to the other wonderful unique churches you see in Charleston. The inside has the white intricate altar that seems typical of other John the Baptist churches that I’ve seen and is quite beautiful. The staff is wonderful and friendly. I wish all these churches had more attendance because everything is so wonderful and designed to lighten peoples hearts

The Cathedral is a magnificent church. The interiors stained glass windows, the stone floors and the beautiful pews and wood work mark this gem as a must see in Charleston. Upon entering the sense of peace is immediate and you may feel the presence of God. It is one of the most lovely churches in Charleston. Also visit the Diocese chapel on Orange Grove Road in West Ashley.

This is a really beautiful cathedral in a area of Charleston that isnt really near anything else. To be honest, it was really nice to go in for some air conditioning after having walked outside in the heat for a long time. Air conditioning aside, the inside is beautiful... They are also planning a renovation to make the decor closer to what it used to look like. Now, everything has been painted white. There is a section where you can see what it will all look like when completed. I wouldnt necessarily go out of your way to see it, but its in a beautiful area with lots of other things to see and would be worth stopping in.

Beautiful church. Well maintained and welcoming to everyone wanting to visit. The streets are a little dicey around the area because of the very old beautiful trees. Be careful some areas of sidewalk are ankle breakers.

I love the older churches. There seems to be more reverence during mass. Monsignor Broveys services are always good.I did have someone chatting during almost every silence before and during the mass last night but that is unusual. The crying child happens but that I can usually tune out.The bathrooms are downstairs but not accessible from inside the church. You must go out the front door, turn left, and go down the side of the building. About halfway down there will be a door and the bathrooms are inside in the 1st left hallway. There are 2 and I dont believe they are designated.
