Excellent trails, so many different options! Its so beautiful to see the seasons change and such a privilege to access the Preserve! My only complaint is about the ungrateful pet walkers and people who leave trash. Just wish lazy pet owners would pick up after their pet or properly dispose of their pets waste bags. You probably drove there, so put the poop bag in your trunk and throw it away when you get to a trash can. If you cant do that, leave your pet at home or maybe you should stay home too. Quit ruining the privilege of freedom and positive experiences.
This park allows mountain bikers. The trails are narrow in some areas where there is not enough room for a biker and a hiker. But most of the trails are fairly wide and are well worn, though I do like to see trail markers on trees, which there are none. The long hike to the pond is well worth the effort. The paths are not hilly or difficult. Once you get to the pond there are picnic tables and a screened in hut to sit in. I strongly suggest that you take a photo of the map that is in the parking lot. The trail signs (only at intersections) are a great help. There is a bike repair station in the parking lot.If you look close I took a photo of a guy riding a unicycle.
Excellent trails, very extensive, peaceful and serene. This is great to have in our backyard!
Good trail. Lots of bikes. We hiked. We will go back in a few weeks to take fall foliage photos.
Love the variety of trails and proximity to home. I have many miles to go to fully experience this spot.
Fun, FAST trails with a little something for every skill level. Pure beginners can build their off-road confidence with easy flowing trails and open sight lines while the more experienced among us can really open up the throttle and rip through the trails as fast as is safe.
Love these trails. So smooth and flowy.
Its okay. Nothing special. Clean and well kept
Beautiful secluded trails with many options and clear maps. Good places for stargazing or, heh, trainspotting! Saw two egrets.
Smooth fast trails with a few rock gardens. Good mountain biking for the area
1st time here...fantastic trail system.
The New Hope Church trailhead of Brumley nature preserve has an abundance of trails which attracts an abundance of cyclists. The benefit is the area is well maintained, but headphones are not recommended for hikers on a busy weekend.A trail map app on your phone is also a plus for the several points where paths converge and you suddenly feel like a Democratic primary voter on Super Tuesday. So many choices!
Just an amazing set of trails, history, and terrain. Super popular with mountain bikers and if you ride, youll see why. Several miles of trails that range from kid friendly to highly technical rocky areas to jumping hoodoos. If youre a runner or hiker, there are plenty of non-bike trails, and you are given right-of-way on bike trails - but please be courteous and alert and move off trail for bikes to pass. The ruins of the wonderful old Craig Manor are here, as are remnants of the ancient pike road from Fayetteville to Hillsborough. Go slow and take in the beauty and history, or go fast and fly down well designed bike trails - its a joy either way and gem of a park.
Fun ride. good flow, not too technical
Portions of the loops farthest from the parking lot might be considered as advanced beginner/intermediate, but the rest of it is pretty much beginner and can get crowded in spots, especially on a weekend. Bring your XC bike.
Very well groomed mountain bike trails.
This Park is for bikes. Thats cool, Durham has more than fifty parks with playgrounds, its totally fine for the bikers to have this one. Yes, some of the trails are marked as walking and biking, and one time we did walk them. But it is not relaxing to be constantly on the lookout for huge BMX bikes that you have to surrender the trail to, no matter what the condition OFF the trail is. Enjoy the park, bikers, see you around.
Beautiful area, fun trails for mountain biking.
Love taking my doggo to Brumley. Great trails for walking and biking. He loves it for the good sniffing.
Lots of shade on the Wood Duck Trail so I kept cool even on a steamy summer day. Easy to find, lots of parking and a trail you can do in sneakers. Maps and information at trail beginning was great. Better markers wouldve been good. There were a few times I wasnt sure I was on the trail anymore.
Nicely shaded trails with a lot of mountain bike travel, many of whom dont seem to feel it necessary to let pedestrians know theyre approaching (stay aware). There are a few porta-potties and no bins, so be sure to carry out litter. Looks like there will be an eastern expansion in the future.
Rode the mountain bike trails. These trails were a mix of slow uphill trails and fun downhill trails. A few muddy spots but overall in great condition.
Great biking and hiking
Purpose built mountain bike trails. Thank you triangle land conservatory!
This place is great for MTB
Awesome mountain biking and hiking. Be sure to read the story of this place at the entrance and say a quick word of silent thanks for the Brumley family in making this park for the enjoyment of all.
I really liked this park; first time. Plenty of room for hikers and bikers when sharing the trails at times. Trails all in the woods with plenty of shade in the summer time. I will revisit.
Fun mountain bike trails. The trails are almost completely shaded by the trees which helps in the summer. I typically go on weekdays when possible and the trails arent overcrowded.
The brumley bike trails are by far and away the best I have ever ridden. They are far and away the smoothest most flowy and georgous trails this side of the Mississippi. I cant wait to go back!
Very fun bike trails
Fantastic trails! Great for Beginner - Intermediate single track riders who like smooth and flowey trails. Experts may get bored, but for everyone else they are great!!
Love everything there. I was a CIT for the Schoolhouse Of Wonder Camp and I learned so much. I wish I could give six stars, heck why not seven️️️️️️️. The river is beautiful and the bikers are friendly. I wish I could live out there. I love being surrounded by serene sights and sounds.Sights️️️️️Sounds ️️️️️Smells ️️️️️Touch️️️️️Taste(wild berries)️️️️️
Best MTB in the triangle
Didnt ride very much but all the trails I did ride were well built and maintained.
Brumley Nature Preserve is one of the newest Triangle Land Conservancy properties to open to the public, having opened in April 2017. It is also one of the largest at more than 600 acres with over 10 miles of trails for hiking and biking. The South entrance of New Hope Church Road provides access to multi-use trails, while the North side is hiking only, so this side is better if seeking solitude. Great place to explore, with a number of old ruins, cemeteries, and farm ponds. Its quite popular so try to arrive early on a nice weekend to ensure available parking.
Amazingly flowy single track MTB park. The topography was well respected when the trails were being designed and built. Everything just links together perfectly. Ive been riding here for about 2 months now and I havent found anything else that compares. Definitely built BY mountain bikers, FOR mountain bikers. Cheers yall!
Fun trail!
Amazing place to mountain bike
Mtn bike trails are well maintained. Flows well. Minimal obstacles. Ample parking. Always fun.
Great place
For the hikers and trail runners out there, rather than starting at Brumley South (off of New Hope Church Rd), where youll be sharing with lots of nice mountain bikers, try starting at the northern entry, Brumley North, which is another trail system (3620 Old State Hwy 10, Chapel Hill - your GPS will find it -- you cant miss it). Here, youll find only hiking trails. What follows is a route that incorporates all of the Brumley North trails, a total of 3.3 miles, requiring approximately one hour of hiking.Snap a photo of the trail map at the trailhead and get going on the Stony Creek Bluff Trail, your only choice at this point. Once you cross the bridge at the creek, bear right onto Dairy Farm Trail (rather than going straight on Dairy Farm Trail), another right onto Cedar Grove Trail, then a right onto A-Train Trail. That will bring you back to Cedar Grove Trail -- take a right and another right onto Dairy Farm Trail. Follow that around until you come back to Stony Creek Bluff Trail at the bridge you originally crossed. You could follow this back to the parking lot to add a bit more distance, but I just took the Cemetery Connector, which abbreviates the Stony Creek Bluff Trail. The trails are generally flat, curving through a pine forest. Youll also see some ponds, pretty fields, and experience a few mild hills and more dense forest. Its easy hiking. Parts of the Dairy Farm Trail can be muddy -- the red clay doesnt dry out quickly, so be ready to get some muddy red boots. Enjoy!
Fantastic flowy trails! Great for hikers too if you don’t mind some polite mountain bikers.
We had fun mountain biking. The trails are fun and flowy.
Smooth and flowy, not very technical at all (4 stars for flow, 2 for tech, average 3). Great place to get some good miles in by doing a lap clockwise and then counter clockwise.
Nice place to go biking and hiking
Awesome trails!! Love this place
Trail intersections are kind of a cluster, needs more signage that points to parking lot.
They worked hard to use every hill on the property. Well done.
Extensive trails (some shared with mountain bikers), wide variety of plant life, interesting terrain, streams and pond.
Beautiful, peaceful and no bikes!
Nice walk, very rustic, path good for 1 person deep or for bike. Pretty muddy after rain. Saw some really big, old trees in one section.
Great mountain bike trails, my favorite in the triangle so far
Good single track mountain bike trails with a nice variety of terrain and levels of difficulty. Could use a restroom (outhouse) near the trail head.
Beautiful forests and fields. The problem is the sharing between mountain bikes and hikers. Some of the multi-use trails (especially the blue Wood Duck Way at the beginning) are way too narrow for both. Hikers often have to pull over since they are narrow, single-file trails.I understand having trails for bikes, but it would make sense to switch that one to hikers only, and make the Chimney Swift Loop at the beginning to multi-use, so bikers can get in and out easier, and hikers dont have to worry about getting run over.Until that happens, it can be a really poor place to take kids for a hike. Its just way too crowded right now with bikes. The bikers arent rude, by any means (though more on your left calls would be nice), but its just too crowded on some of those trails for both.I will try out the hike-only areas on the north side of Old 10, next
Great place to mountain bike after work. Be careful of the two way trails for riders and hikers. Have fun!
GORGEOUS PLACE highly recommend
Beautiful place with wonderful trails. As a hiker, I had to move to the side several times for mountain bikers along blue and yellow trails. Those might be better mountain biking trails than hiking trails.
Awesome spot for hiking thanks to TLC.
Love the bike trails in Brumley!
Great trails - not real technical and pretty easy to navigate. If you want to make more challenging, pedal faster.
Awesome!Good canopy for the warmer hikes.
Nice place to walk. Watch out for bikes.
Always a great place to ride.
Great mountain bike trails.
Its a beautiful location for hiking, with multiple different trails of different length and difficulty. I dont bike, but given the number of (very polite) bikers, its great for that, too. Well worth the trip.
Favorite MTB spot in the Triangle. Super fast trails.
Great trails for mtb
Watch out for bikes
Great bike trails and hiking.
Excellent trails to ride or walk
Great mountain bike trails
Great place to mtb, fast flowy single track
The mountain bike trails are great!
Nice trails for hiking, not much traffic but be aware of the bikes. Make sure to hit the Conservation Corps loop.
Love this place, family trail needs a little maintainence, would be happy to help
Not good for hiking with dogs. Too many bikes. Even though there are bike free trails, at some points you have to take shared trails to connect to the bike free ones. Bikers are very polite but I couldnt relax when Im trying to look up and down the trail to make sure my dog and her leash arent going to be tangled with a bike. If you want to ride trails this is a nice place for that, but a scenic walk with the dog is not so great. There are much better trails nearby for that (e.g. - Thompsons Mill, Blackwood Farm & Occanneechi Mountain). At the tail end of our hike we got swarmed by yellow jackets, but that can happen anywhere. Didnt make for a very pleasant outing though.
Ellen, buy a bike and join the fun! This place has some super fun single track!
So excited about this place. Good hiking and biking trails, adequate parking, and tons of lovely nature.
This is a new trail that I plan to frequent when I want to take the bike out for some fun fast flow.
Great mountain biking
Trails are marked well. Nice flowing trails with a few small jumps.
Sweet trails.
Excellent, fast, flowy singletrack.
Excellent singletrack trails, well-marked and maintained.
Awesome place to run or cycle!
Exceptional mountain biking and hiking trails for the entire family
Beautiful and shaded.
Beautiful trails, it was perfect for a casual jog after work
This is a very fast and flowing mountain bike trail
Watch out for Mountain Bikers
Great MTB trails with good flow.
Heavy bike traffic. Hikes and bikers beware.
Great place to ride smooth fast trails.
Great trails!!
Fantastic running trails.
Great single track
