I’ve played both courses a few times and like the layout on both courses. The staff is always friendly. The range is huge and the other practice areas are also pretty big. There is practically no shade on this course so be aware of that if you want to play in the summer. The greens have been ok since reseeding, a little patchy. Last time I went they had pushed back all the tee times and closed the practice areas due to frost. It’s kind of annoying because I played another course down the road the day after and they just do cart path only until 8 am because of frost, and the course was in better shape than Bear Creek. Also, the pace has always been very slow when I played there. There are lots of retirees and walkers, so be ready for that. Last time I played the bear I didn’t even have time to play all 18, made it through 13 in 3 1/2 hours. No marshal to be seen. Got up to the tee box and the group ahead of us was waiting for the next who was still teeing off. Not really a knock on the course, it’s just the course is near a big retirement area so not great for faster paced players
Great complex. The cub course is good for practicing with literally every iron you have. The bear course is gorgeous and challenging while still being incredibly fun. Staff is very nice and grounds are well taken care of
Reasonably priced for Nicholas designed course. Fun to play and has 2 courses. 1 full and 1 executive so options based on your time. Looks like strong support for youth golf and lot of families at range and cub course.nice and comfortable watering hole when it opens again.Great instruction available also.
Fun course. Currently overseeding so cart path only. Course will be in great shape for the fall. Henry was a pleasure to have join us, he is also an employee. Great ambassador for the course.
My favorite golf course and practice facility in Chandler, Arizona. The practice putting, chipping, sand traps and driving range are stellar for improving your golf game. The championship course is always in great condition with the greens rolling true. The pace of play is excellent and the design of the course outstanding by Jack Nicklaus. The golf staff is excellent! The general manager Paul goes out of his way to make sure everyone has an excellent experience. Appreciate the smile and customer service of Donna in the Pro Shop and Diana in the Bear’s Den lounge area. Played over 50 rounds here in the last six months and highly recommend this facility. ️
The Bear Course was very busy. We played 9 holes in about 3 hours. The course was in pretty bad condition too. Just because it says Nicklaus Design Group designed the course doesnt mean that it is good. Save your money and go to another course like Lone Tree or Ocotillo, both just a short drive away.
Nice slice of heaven, the only thing that outshines the class and sophistication of the homes and land is the people that inhabit them.
I enjoyed it but I wouldnt travel too far to play here. All around its just average which is fine at the price point they charge but if youre willing to pay a bit extra there are nicer courses nearby.
I mostly go here because it’s cheap and I golf a lot, but the quality of the corse is not great. Sometimes the greens are horrible and then other times they seem a lot better. Most people at the front desk are nice and kind, although an older lady there is rude and annoying
Great course for the price, Tee Boxs, Greens, Fairway, Rough, in at best, ok condition, but its cheap and easy so you pay for what you get, for beginners its the perfect course
Great course very unique to the valley not your average desert layout. Its more like a link style course, similar to those scene in Europe.
Great golf course! Reasonable prices and very well maintained!
Cub course is not in very good condition now. Staff is great!
I really enjoyed myself today at Bear Creek today the course was in very good condition!
Reasonably challenging. Good desert course.
Great golf courses both cub and bear.Superb drink cart service.
Played Cub course as initial, warm up round for Feb residency. Challenging, fun, fast (2:45 hours) and priced right. Tight lies due to hibernating Bermuda grass makes some shots unfair, but otherwise, a perfectly adequate.
Cub course is a fun little course to play for a quick round or when taking a beginner to the game.
Fun and fairly easy course for all skill levels. Great for the family!
I enjoyed my first visit to the grill very much. The beer was cold and the conversation provided by Lyn was very engaging. As a new resident to the area, I have been searching out places of interest and have found one in Bear Creek. I will most assuredly be back!
Great course, with fun holes and some challenging shots. The course is well maintained and the front desk staff were friendly. However, we didn’t have a fantastic experience overall. There was a 1+ hour frost delay and we got paired up with two members who knew the course well. We finished the first 9 in under 2 hours and the entire course in under 4, but were told repeatedly that we needed to “pick up the pace” because there were two groups of 3 behind us that kept catching up. We had a cart and were literally running at some points to ensure each hole was within the allocated time but still getting scolded. This undue impatience from the marshal added a constant stress to our game that took away from the experience, which otherwise could have been great.
Great rates. Perfectly kept tee boxes, nice fairways and well kept greens. Staff is great .
Decent track, nice staff.
Its a just ok course, well the cub course was. Stuck in the valley area, so no mountain views at all. Location of your in that area is great. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. If your looking for this type of course then I would say go try it. If you have put off town guests that you want to provide the true flavor of Arizona and our beautiful mountain scenery, this is not that place.
Its definitely a great place to go for the driving range and the 36 hole course on hand. If your looking to putt its a great place to escape and breathe while knocking a few balls around. Overall inside is nice with a bar and food, complimentary water. ... The price range is all fair and beat most out on price. #Chandler #South #Golf #DrivingRange
Great Course! First and last time here for me. I was disappointed with how the on course staff handled the frost delay. The on course marshal ruined what could have been an awesome 5 star experience.
Course is well maintained and prices are reasonable. Cub course is great for the little ones.
Is not to expensive.and the golf course is excellent.os a great deal is you like to play golf in the east valley
Course was in fairly good shape, a lot of bare spots with no grass and standing water
Ok track if you want a really quick round or your just starting out. Good location if you are taking out the kiddos to teach them the game. Really nice staff. It was pricey for the for the round.
Extremely disappointed with my experience at Bear Creek. Have only played here when other courses in my area are closed and this will be my last round ever. Pro shop staff advised me that course was wide open and would cut me a deal by getting me a twilight rate 20 minutes before it started. Went out and it was packed and after getting through 4 holes in about 65 minutes I thought Id call it a day and get a refund. I let the Pro Shop know of my frustrations and asked for a refund on 9 holes and was advised because I got a twilight deal I wasnt eligible for a refund. I understand the staff was following policy and I in no way blame them but there has to be some flexibility when theres a poor experience for the paying patrons. I would understand if I teed off an hour before sunset and I couldnt finish but with over 4 hours of daylight left.
Great courses 36 holes short 18 challenging par three great shape soft greens rolling fast great shape will play agian soon nice staff good outside service
Great course, safe distance from homes unless you have a wicked slice
Nice little 18 hole exec course in Sun Lakes. Itll test your short game to be sure
Great course with good prices. They have two courses the cub and the bear both are a lot of fun. Definitely worth the money
Fun complex, they need to have a monthly range membership though.
Nice course, nice people, good prices
Nice little course. Definitely recommend.
Great course. Challenging but fun. Great staff at the shop.
This place sucks just out of fairway cant find your ball so much cut grass its ridiculous for what they charge
Golfed the short Cub course, excellent for a quick round.
Love this place!!! Been coming here since 2004.
The Cub course is such a great place for kids and senior golfers. Well maintained and very friendly staff. Great prices for golfing in the Phoenix area
Golf course is not in very good shape. Greens are slow and bumpy. Seems like ground crew are not doing very well at maintaining the course.
Well kept and a great deal. Fantastic Sunday course.
I play at this course regularly, it is in great shape most all the time. My last play was April 6, 2017, the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in excellent condition. The turf on the fairways is thick and mowed evenly. A good reason to play this course is good golf at a reasonable price. The staff is great to work with, they have a beverage cart and restaurant with breakfast and lunch menu.I would play there any day, and, the only reason for the 4star instead of five is because the scenery ends at the end of the first cut. If you dont get your ball in the fairway or first cut, then youll likely be in weeds or bare ground. But, the course is still very playable. The white tees are approximately 5950 yards with a 110 slope.I am likely to play Bear Creek (Bear course) once or twice a month this year.BTW, they also have the cub course that is in great shape as well, I think it is 60 par. I have played it a few times, but prefer the regulation course. You can save some $ on the cub course though
Came here to use the driving range. The range is very nice. I will definitely plan on coming back to play golf!
Excellent practice facility
Very friendly East valley Muni in good shape. Inside and outside staff efficient and pleasant. Pace of play good, course is fun to play.
Very nice place with very nice people.
Course was in good shape challenging but fair
The course is wide-open and not very difficult, but price in the summer is not too bad. The greens are always slow, but summer time here with Bermuda style greens...whos greens are not. Clubhouse management and the bar/restaurant staff seem to be cool each and every time I have been there.
I only took a lesson here and then lunch. Had a great experience with Chris, the instructor and the food inside the club house was awesome.
Fairways and greens were in good shape but greens a tad slow. A fair challenge. The staff were attentive and courteous.
Great course, in awesome condition, better value.
Great customer service both in the proshop restaurant and on the course. Great fairways and greens. Executive course is great for beginners
Ive always loved the layout, very fair. The course has some length too. I believe they lessened the course when they took out the native grasses that used to surround the fairways to diminish slow play. Practice area is better than average. Carts seemed new. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are coming out of overseeding nicely.
Good course - reasonably priced and fairways/greens are in great shape! Staff is super friendly. Clubhouse food is also very good. I take my kids to the Cub course which is par 3 course and good for kids just starting out playing this wonderful sport.
Great people here. Course was in pretty good shape. Been here when its been better and also when its not been as nice.
Fun golf course. 2 18 hole courses. They have a small cubby course that you can finish in about 3 hrs or less. Will only use your driver a couple times. Their long Corsair is a nice layout and challenging. Prices are always reasonable.
Nice wide open course. Not too expensive with a good looking club house. Three are two courses little (cub) and the big(bear). One drink cart runs both courses be sure to bring plenty of water, cause your not going to see her much. Poorly maintained greens the outer edges were all dead.
They keep the course in pretty good shape and the pricing is reasonable
I rated it 3 stars. I thought it was pricy for the layout.
Love the CUB course! Bear course is for Par 72 golfers.
Very nice golf course. Friendly staff. Good food
This place SUCKS!! Whoevers in charge of this hell hole should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.....IT IS A DUMP!!!
This place us the most unorganized gilf venue i have ever been to. The course is good. But staff is absolutely horrible. Sad for a city of Chandler course.
I want to start this post by saying this is my favorite course in the valley, that being said, they are not worth more than $25-$30 to play with the greens in as horrific shape as they are. It’s expensive to play in season here in the valley and your money would be better served elsewhere until they figure out their greens. The parking lot would roll better than most of the greens. So sad won’t be back this year, not that they care but there goes my 15-17 rounds a year I play there plus my friends... good luck. Ps, the rest of the course is actually in decent shape, but the greens are half the game.
I am a handicapped veteran. This is my second time coming to this course. The first time I played, I played with a group of older white guys (who were cool as ice in the winter) and we had handicapped flags. Had a great time. The whole day no one asked us about our disabilities. Round was great. Fast forward to 3/5/16 (today). I had my handicap flag on my cart and was playing with my brother. We were on a hole and the cart girl stops her cart and asks us what in the hell were we doing with an attitude. I advised her that I have a handicap flag and what the hell do you mean. We exchanged a few words then she had the nerve to say, I bet that injury is fake. It took everything in my power to keep from cursing her out. I replied though and said when you do the things I have done serving this country, then talk to me. Now fast forward to the back nine. My brother and I see the cart girl and she stopped and talked to another employee that has the player helper (or something to that effect) flag. He then comes over to us and makes small talk and then asked me what my handicap was. At first, I thought he meant about golf, then realized he was asking me about my actual disability. I told him Army stuff. He probably did not understand but he said been there done that. So, A, I guess the staff are medical personnel that can cure my disability, or B, they ask everybody who plays that uses a handicapped flag what is their disability, or C, they were being pretty racist. Yes, I am an American (who is black) and I have served my country and my community (retired police officer)! I should not have to be subject to the humility and racism that I was subject to today. Yes, it was only a round of golf, but, it is the principle of the negative and racist interaction. I am very intelligent, so the second conversation was completely unnecessary. Funny, I was thinking about making that my favorite course. It is a nice course. After the interaction, you can have it. The rest of the staff was pretty friendly and professional. If it was not for the racist interaction, this would be a great place to play.
Nice track, greens were very putable when on right levels. Played with my son, we enjoyed the round. Easy to find and get to, no carts in parking lot; plenty of parking.
Nice layout, challenging holes, good selection of tee boxes for all skill levels. Friendly, helpful pro shop staff. Reasonable rates. Good eats too.
Bear Creek has two very different 28 hole courses. The cub course is the easiest. It is perfect for beginners or those wanting to work on there short game. The Bear course is a beautiful course with a variety of holes.Be careful with you cart and keep it off of the rocks as many people ignore this causing the belt on the cart to break. This leaves a shortage of carts.
Very nice public course
Best value in the east valley. A good track with friendly staff and real nice practice facility. One thing I like is they keep their fees reasonable in the winter and not try and gouge you like most of the other courses in the area. For that reason I choose to play here throughout the summer even when the other courses have lowered their rates.
Nice course, but its best if you keep it in the fairways.
Very nice golf course. Kept very clean and greens are nice. Great for beginners and longtime players due to their two different courses.
Very convenient. I wish yardage was posted on the driving range.
Love this course did bear course and beat my oponite yay
Great practice area....practise green is amazing, hopefully the course greens are like that. I will golf there soon.
Bear Creek is a great layout and fun course. It can challenge all levels of skill and is well priced a great value.
Bear Creek used to be a top five course for me. From tee box to green it was lush, the rough was a penalty, and the conditions were always ideal for the design. I played today and something has changed. Greens are 1/3 dead... the rough is being watered so much that you’ll find yourself in almost mud... overall a disappointment. When asked they said it’s a ‘black layer’ which doesn’t allow water to penetrate the greens and it has been building for a couple years. I’m no golf course expert, but regular aeration and seeding seems to be against their head greenskeepers wishes. They’ve also shaved the edges of most greens so that if the pin is within 5 yards you might as well pitch to the middle and hope you spin the ball. Their placement on 15 was in the false front. We putted a ball from 5 feet left of the hole, intentionally on the low side by half a cup. As soon as it got within a foot of the hole, it dove down the slope and finished 75’ down the slope. Unacceptable from this course.
Despite recent heavy rains course is in good shape and greens are running fast and rolling true.
Played the Cub course with my kids... it was in great shape, and perfect for beginners and juniors.
Great value and a nice time. Friendly and helpful staff as well.
Ouch! 2 star greens, 3 star fairways, 4 star tees but NO character! Boring, boring, boring. Very good range with good grass and supporting practice areas. Played in 102 degree heat and they told me to make sure I had plenty of my own water because they dont have any on the course and there was no cart lady. Arizona, 102, and no water on the course?!?!?! Ridiculous! And had to find my own cart and a key. Just no value. Save your money, dont waste your time, and give Putt-Putt another try. Overall: 2 stars.
Fair price. Not crowded. Cub course is in good condition.
