It is definitely one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on. The problem about it is that it is a one month waiting list but that just goes to show you how gorgeous this trail truly is. There is a lot of water on the way on the trail so you will have to you either pack vacuum seal boots or just be OK with wet feet like I had to be.
This was an amazing hike! You have to have permits. The trail has bathrooms. I suggest that you start early to avoid the crowds and bring water shoes. When I hiked it it was 48 degrees with a water temp of 39 so watch out for cold feet. The staff was great and gave me information as other hikes I may be interested in. Beautiful hike that wasnt very physically demanding, took us longer than they say it should (I want to say maybe 3 hours?) but we stopped and took pictures multiple times. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Gorgeous scenery, the water felt cool but not too cold and it (alongside all the shade) kept us a good temperature despite hiking in 100+ August weather. Highly recommend
Not only was this one of the most beautiful & colorful trails Ive ever been on, but its also super diverse: theres sweeping landscape views, narrows, river crossings, tons of different foliage. And if thats not enough, this is definitely the most fun trail Ive ever been on. Its a bit difficult, but theres tons of skipping across stones, and balancing on tree trunks to cross the rivers.I cannot recommend this trail highly enough.
First time ever hiking this trail and I didnt know what to expect. I wasnt prepared for what was ahead but it was so worth it at the end!! Its a little challenging and make sure you wear proper shoes cause your feet will get wet. Such an amazing hike!! If you never been here before I highly suggest you check it out!!
We hiked this with a 3-month old baby. It took us about 4 hours in total, but we stopped for about a 30-minute lunch in the middle. You will spend about half of the hike literally walking in a river that goes just above your ankles.Make sure to reserve tickets online before you go, and start early in the day (like 7:30-8:00am) if you want to avoid getting bottle-necked at the waterfalls. We love this hike, it is gorgeous and not overly challenging!
Amazing hike! The first part of the hike is on just dry land and it gets pretty hot there. However, once the stream starts, the hike turns amazing. The water isnt very deep but its pretty cold though you adjust to the temperature soon. It was one of the best and most adventurous hikes. Climbing the fall was a bit scary and it got crowded there waiting for people to come down. However, apart from that site we met very few people and it was mostly a cool, beautiful and tranquil hike through the canyons and slot canyons.P.S. you need to book the tickets to home these falls beforehand. We booked about a month before our trip. And remember to check the weather for flash floods probability before the hike.
Amazing hike! Beautiful scenery. I cant believe we havent been here before. A lot of time walking in the river but it is very refreshing. It does have a couple technical climbs up a ladder and some logs. Just take it slow and easy. It may be difficult for very young children or elderly to climb the ladder at the first waterfall. Even if you dont go past the first fall, it is still worth the hike to it. The second fall is more technical. Well come do it again.
Beautiful beautiful! If you are like me and every time you come to Utah and the water levels in narrows is too high then this is the place for you! I call this introductory Narrows with a picturesque waterfall at the end! You walk along a dry road and descend towards the river! You will have to cross the river couple of times so either prepare your feet to go dumb from the cold or use neoprene socks! Either way this place is amazing. Be sure to reserve your tickets ahead of time or you will not be allowed to enter!
This is an absolutely beautiful hike. Definitely easy enough for kids but probably not smart for kids under about seven. Because of water running through the slot canyon. Make sure to book tickets well in advance if you plan on going during the summer months. Only 150 hikers are allowed up the trail per day. Ticket costs were $12 each. There are no refunds but if you get rained out they will let you reschedule for a different day.
Beautiful hike. I was bummed that it was not better maintained. We could not get past the third water fall because the access ladder was broken. We were told when leaving that there is not currently plans to repair it.
This was a beautiful hike. Very well maintained and very nice to be in. The slot canyon was amazing and unique. I definitely plan on doing this again. Worth every penny I spent on the entrance permit.
What a fun and easy hike!!! Super worth getting soaking wet and cold, its fun and beautiful and full of life! Bring your watershoes and clothes you dont mind getting wet if you really want to experience this hike to its fullest. There is a small amount of scrambling up a ladder and rocks to get further past the waterfall but even if you stop there in the slot canyon its amazing to look up and barely see the sky peeking through. Do it! Its worth the small fee to go.
Incredible hike. Easy hike only a mile or so. Nice and cool in the slot canyon and the permits keep the crowds down.
Great introduction to slot canyons! Always check the weather - flash floods are legit. Its $12 per person - best to register online - they limit the number of folks that can go up. Bring water shoes - there is some scrambling through the water to get to the first waterfall.
I have a home in Kanarraville, the hike is enjoyable and beautiful. Now the daily visits are limited, you are not rubbing shoulders with hundreds of people.
Spectacular canyon, worth the numb feet. At $12 per person, that ladder? Wonder how many people get hurt on that thing...
Beautiful scenery and a great hike in general. Be prepared to get wet.
Gorgeous hike. Make sure you bring water shoes. I went in August and the water is was chilly, but with the outside temp, it felt really nice.
It is a nice place to visit.
Amazing hike! Definitely wear waterproof hiking shoes. Starts off a little boring, but the second half and finish is more than worth the 3 hr hike. Make sure to book pass online as they only allow 150 hikers per day. Will definitely doing it again once back in the area.
Ah-mazing... similar to Narrows but more quiet and personal. Max 150 people allowed per day.
Beautiful adventure! Make sure you know which way to go so pay attention to direction and enjoy!
Absolutely amazing hike, overall not too difficult, beautiful views, the narrows especially are gorgeous. The only thing I would recommend is to have really good sandals or water hiking shoes, because you will spend a decent amount of time hiking across or up the creek.
This is one of the prettiest hikes in Southern Utah. It’s not easy though. You will definitely be walking in water and while the rocks aren’t slippery, stepping across them can be unsteady. So a lot of people bring walking sticks. You will also have to climb up and over rocks and even a ladder to get past the first fall. I wore open toes hiking sandals and I was fine. A lot of people wear hiking boots (but I don’t like wet socks) and I was fine. You are in the shade about a third of the time. There were lots of bees for some reason??? I wore big spray too.The water is COLD. But you’ll get used to it.The hike is permit only. You can purchase online. They do sell out most days so plan to buy at least a week in advance. I like that it’s not crowded so it’s worth the price at currently $12 each. Parking is free.
Absolutely in love with Kanarra falls. Amazing scenery, easy hike, fun going through the creek and getting your feet wet. We went there on a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon and the trail was quiet and tranquil. We took our time to frequently stop, make pictures and enjoy the hike.Would go back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful area to explore
Beautiful hike as short or long as you want to make it, water can be pretty cold but there are plenty of places to walk out of the water to warm your feet up in between.Youtube search On the Rd Kanarra Falls to watch a short video of the hike and a more in depth explanation in the videos description, you can add any questions in the comment section and Id be happy to answer.Happy hiking!
Really beautiful, pretty easy hike. I loved climbing the ladders and being in a slot canyon. Going up and coming back down the trail had extremely different perspectives which made it fun too.
Awesome hike. The only reason I give it 4 out 5 is because it use to be free and the reservation system is not that great.
Beautiful hike. Well trafficked. Bring shoes you can get wet in. It now costs $8 per person to hike the trail. Hopefully some parts will be better marked.
Water was cold!!!! Great hike. May be my new favorite.
This place is amazing..... The pictures speak for itself
Such a unique hike! Beautiful landscape and cool walk through the creek. We went during mid November and it was practically empty. Silence and nature! Pay $12 for a permit online and they only allow 150 hikers per day so during summer I recommend booking in advance. Bring waterproof boots too! We took reg shoes and when it came time to walk in the freezing creek our feet were numb. Don’t do that!! Try to go mid day to catch the light falling through the slot canyon. Hike took approx 3 hours
Super adventurous hike, although Id like to see the cost for admission be used to create a safer latter to climb the falls... .its a horribly unsafe design. Otherwise, a rad hike!
Walking through slot Canyon and you will connect to nature and find peace, great rewards to you eyes & spirit.
Beautiful and short enough hike for beginners and kids.
May 2019There is parking fee and online reservation. The trail goes along and through the river. The water was knee high and cold. I would recommend bringing hiking poles to help when going through the river. The trail was hard to define at times and we went through multiple side trail. There is a narrow before arriving to the waterfall. Only one ladder was available and it was impossible to move forward past the second waterfall.Great experience overall.
We arrived at the parking lot and had no problems getting in since we had prepaid for our permits online. It was a good hike to the trailhead. Awesome views along the way. Once on the trailhead, we were in and out of the water - crossing to find the best path. The water was in the 30’s and rushing. The last 100 feet to the falls was a slot canyon with water flowing through it. There is no avoiding the water. Water was rushing over the ladder - and no one was able to go past the boulder because of the water flow. Great hike!
It is a beautiful hike. There is so much beauty. It is a definite must see.
This hike is absolutely beautiful. If you have or are planning on hiking then Narrows in Zion, this is like a miniature. It can get crowded on weekends, and wait times for the first ladder can be long. Get there early and be patient. The crowds seem to thin significantly past the first ladder.
Great hike and lot of fun! Maybe we missed it, but we wish the website pointed out how cold the water would be and gave suggestions on where to get River shoes. It would be awesome if they rented or sold shoes or neoprene socks there... If we were to do it again, we would probably do it in the middle of the summer when its hot instead of March...
Very pretty. Not a lot of traffic.
One of Utah’s greatest secrets. It’s a fun and easy hike for the family. However, though easy it is absolutely breathtaking. Make sure to ride the slide;)
Great hike.1.75 miles until the first waterfall and ladderRoughly 2 miles until the second one.Awesome rock slide into a little pool in between the ladders.Bring appropriate shoes to hike in and expect to get wet!! There is no avoiding it.Most of the hike is on the river (ankle-knee deep)No more pay for parking... just $8 per person at the station. Exact cash or cards
Been here a few times and always enjoy the hike. I drove almost two hours today so excited to go back but I guess there’s a new rule where they can only have 150 people in so we got turned away so you might have to go earlier in the afternoon.
Beautiful and fun hike. Well worth the trip.
I had read many reviews about this hike and finally made it. This hike itself isnt bad for an average hiker. However, the undefined trail and cold elevated water, can take a toll on the human body. I highly recommend water boots and walking sticks, if youre hiking during the spring when run off is plentyfuI. I do not recommend this hike for chilren, during Spring season, due to the high water. As a tall adult male, the water reached my knees, as I crossed the creek several times. Also, the current is pretty swift and can take you down. Therefore, please do your homework before making a visit. The slot canyons are gorgeous and are such an amazing exploration. Thanks
This is one of the most beautiful and satisfying hikes I have been on so far. We made it to the second fall, but with a baby on my back and a very tired 10 year-old we didnt take the chance climbing the second ladder, it wasnt in as good of shape as the first. It was still phenomenal.
This hike is well worth any effort to get there. I think they started running this by permit on May 1, 2018. Once you leave the parking lot, up the stairs, you can take the road through the gate (All Trails leads you over a false summit).
Please take your sense of adventure with you when you go . For the kid in all of us great short hike to a beautiful waterfall. Note they now charge 8 bucks a person plus 1 $ handling fee but well worth it to me. Love going in fall and seeing the colors change. You will get be prepared for that
I loved the hike. Cedar City nearby for food.l9ved it.
I have hiked this 3 times now and it is worth it every time. It’s tucked away in a random small town in southern Utah but it is a wonder to behold. It’s like going to the slot canyons at Zion National Park without the crowds. It’s also as beautiful as Antelope Canyon in Arizona but no massive fees. If you go on a non-holiday, it isn’t crowded and you can get awesome pictures. Recently, they added a permit fee of $8 per person to make sure there aren’t too many people in the canyon at once (I think this is for environmental protection as well as crowd control in case of flats floods). They also added a nicer bathroom at the bottom of the trail and there are Porto-pottys at the parking lot. When we went the parking lot was free at the mouth of the canyon but we also got there early so there were still a few spots left. Go on a hot day and it will be perfect because the water is pretty frigid and yes YOU DO GET WET. So make sure you bring shoes (NOT FLIP FLOPS) that you don’t mind getting wet and muddy. Past the first waterfall there are some areas where you get wet up to your knees or thighs if you are short. The first waterfall is just as beautiful as the second and it has a ladder that is much more sturdy than the second waterfall. Be prepared to get totally drenched if you want to climb the second waterfall. DO NOT GO ON A RAINY DAY. PERIOD. Check the weather! You could die. You’ll see the wreckage of past flash floods and it is startling to see the size of trees and rocks being pushed by the force of water. Don’t die, choose a dry day to hike this slot canyon. Just be wise, and enjoy this hidden gem of a hike!
Amazing hike up the Kanarra Canyon. Luckily I went on a weekday in the off season, as it can get really crowded. This is also a fee area, but that’s a good thing, it will help preserve the area.
Get ready for a wet river hike. Yup, make sure you have waterproof shoes or sandals, cuz youre hiking up a river...not next to it...but in it. This is a river slot canyon. Great scenery, great exercise, super fun!
Awesome hike. Getting up the two waterfalls can be difficult. We would send taller people up first so they could help the others up. Under 12 would likely have trouble getting past. The trail isnt strenuous, but twisting ankles is easy to do in the rocks in the stream
A hike easy enough for your kids but you will all get wet. The small trek will take away your breath as you start on rolling hills and work your way into winding canyon walls. For an unforgettable experience I highly recommended to steer away from the big parks and discover this hidden paradise. Please be respectful of the area and do not leave trash or any other unwanted items.
A fantastic place, the views are awesome, and its not crowded. They allow 150 people a day max.We all loved it !
Words fail how amazing this hike is. There have been some significant recent changes...free parking but an $8 pp fee. Totally worth it. The beginning of the trail is about 1 mile of wide dirt road, followed by many rocky scrambles along and through the creek. The trail can be extremely busy. Was a refreshing hike for my family through the cold water on a 100 degree day!
Great hike but definitely FAR more water than we were expecting. Interesting to do with a baby backpack and three other children. I would recommend taking at least one other adult for ferrying kids across the rocks.
Too bad! They only allow 150 people to get into the canyon. You have to purchase permit thru online. Each person costs 12 dollars. Be sure you get permit at first. However, I will give it a try again. Based on those photos, It is nice place to go!
Hike in 20 minutes and then take in one of the most beautiful and fun hikes in southern Utah you get a wonderful feeling of connecting with nature because you are In it the whole hike. Water trees smooth canyon rocks and waterfalls.
Beautiful hike! Worth every second. Be prepared to get wet as most of the hike is through a river. It was very busy when I went, which was on a Saturday. I would not recommend taking young children that cannot be carried because my 4 year old was very cold and exhausted by the end of the trail.
Super adventure. The incline hike in the sun the first part of the trail could be tiresome. The second part of the tail is in and out of the river. Its the very last third of the trail thats pretty amazing. Once your find the slot canyon the water falls are soon after. I think there are more waterfalls but I didnt want to go any further into the hike late in the day.
Considering the abundance of free trails in Southern Utah, having to pay feels like a racket. The money does not appear to be going towards maintaining the area.
This hike is super beautiful and refreshing, especially once you enter the canyon and walk among the majestic multicolored rocks, all the while you cool yourself with the ever streaming flowing water. Recommended to go on weekdays and/or early as it tends to get crowded. Youll need to climb a couple of makeshift ladders in order to progress into the canyon and it can take a while if there are many people.
Amazing hike! It was just beautiful. Totally worth it. You will get wet. There is no other way. Wear your water shoes and protect your electronics.
Bring shoes to walk in the Creek, start at sign best router.
By far our favorite hike in the area. Hiking was pricey at $12/person including kids. We took our 7 and 9 year old. They loved splashing through the cold water and the challenge of climbing ladder, sticks and climbing back down via small water fall. Some places were hard to navigate because there isn’t 1 main trail but many trails diverting up and around the mAin trail but it wasn’t too difficult to get back on track.
Really cool! Not very hard. The ladders are sketchy ... thats my only complaint.
Great hike to do on a hot day. Small children will have a difficult time on some areas. Be prepared to carry them or lift them. My daughter is 52 and did okay on her own with a little support on the big steps. Make sure your water shoes have good soles, the river bed is very rocky.
I loved this hike, pretty strenuous and you have to hike thru water so make sure and be prepared! Total hike took us about 5 hours, that was with stopping and taking plenty of pictures.
It was kind of a hard hike... Well for us as a family with 2 infants and 4 kids ages 2, 5, 7, 8. Still totally worth it. Wear shoes you can get wet. There is no if, but when you will get your feet sopping wet. I wore tennis shoes with regular socks and didnt get any blisters. It was 106 degrees when we hiked but the water keeps you cool... After a 3/4 mile hike to the creek. Then you basically walk upstream until you get to the top. Beautiful red Rock, high walls. It was breathtaking. You park for free, but they only let 150 people in/day, so you pay $12/person. Bring water!
Great hike! Friendly staff at the sweet spot parking lot. Very helpful guide info by Hannah!
This hike is definitely on my top 5 favorite hikes list. The sweet spot parking lot is where you want to park. Its free and very friendly. We get greeted everytime we come. They have a small snack bar that is fairly priced. Will definitely be back soon.
Beautiful hike! Its steep in the beginning, but once you hit the water its cool and easy!
Was ruined by people who want to require paid permits and limit the number of people per day. It’s frequently sold out.
The Falls hike is a wonderful slot full of great views and surprises along the way. The first part is a nice warmup while you hike in a jeep trail for about a half mile through BLM land. Be on the lookout for great wildflowers in May and June. Once you get onto land controlled by the town, you simply follow the water upstream since the trail is unmarked. Water can be quite cold as spring snow melt fills the creek, and after winters with lots of snow the water level can also get high (mid thigh). Recommend a hiking pole for getting up and down some rock scrambles. Trail is often shaded but you can definitely get sunburned, so use sunscreen generously. Starting in 2019 the fee per person is $12, and there is no longer a group rate or discount. Get your permit in advance online, as they limit access to 150 people per day. As with any slot hike, keep an eye on the weather and if it starts to rain then turnaround or seek higher land ASAP.
This has to be one of my all-time favorite places to visit in the entire world. I love the hike. The water was exquisite. It was incredibly cool to see the formations and the slot canyons. It was a little bit of a hard hike. But there were three and four-year-olds it were doing it so I figured I could make it. We went all the way to the top. Dont stop at the bottom set of false. There are some second Falls or higher up and boy they are awesome. I cant tell you how much I enjoyed it was the highlight of our trip.
Do. Not. Miss. This. Hike. It is absolutely beautiful and a very easy hike. Prepare for your get to get wet and start early to avoid the crowds.
Incredible hike. Most of it was in the river and it gets about knee deep past the first ladder. I prefer to park at the fist parking lot on the right hand side before you get to the trail.
This place is magical! Wear good water shoes. Have lots of fun!
Amazing place with a beautiful set of falls. If going in the winter or early spring wear water proof socks.
Awesome, beautiful, a great day hike
Absolutely loved this place and by far one of my favourite hikes. It is tough going though, youre hiking through the river for the majority of the time and mid October the water is freezing, my feet were in a lot of pain from the cold. We highly recommend that you wear shoes that inclose your feet completely, as your constantly walking over slippery rocks and small bolders on uneven ground and it would be all to easy to obtain an injury. Despite the freezing water, the hike through the slot canyon to the waterfall was absolutely stunning and worth every second of discomfort...lol there are numerous places you have to climb up and over various things, so if you suffer with any mobility issues, this hike may not be suitable for you.
Overrated and expensive. It’s $9 a person for a hike that is a lot better a few miles away. In an area where places like this are so common, don’t waste your time here. Most likely you will have to wait in line to even see the most important part and it will be underwhelming.
I went there on time and I have a shirt. Apparently some of my antsesors lived in kanarraville and the people that lived in kanarraville probably knows about the band wagon, apparently my great grandfather was in the band wagon
Awesome slot canyon. Water is frigid but worth walking through to get to the falls. The falls were spilling over the ladder but you can still climb it. Wear water shoes, shorts and bring dry clothes for after!
This hike was fantastic! Beautiful! Wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Much of the hike will be in the water. Some spots will require going up a ladder or tree log to reach upper levels and continue on. You need to get tickets in advance as there are only allowed 150 people per day. But worth the reservation.
Fantastic hike. 2 miles into the falls through a slot canyon. Hiking in the stream. Water is cold.
The water you go through is like ice but it was a beautiful hike.
One of my top 5 favorite hikes in southern Utah.
Amazing hike. I was skeptical about the charge per person but it actually makes it better due to reduced crouding.
My credit card was charged, but I did not receive any tickets or a receipt via email. Contacting anyone was a joke. I had to dig around just to find a phone number, and when I called, it just rang and rang. Thought Id give the process another go, and miraculously it worked. (I ended up disputing the charges through my credit card company for the first set of tickets). When I got to the hike, a sign was posted saying the ladder that leads to the second waterfall was broken, and we were not allowed to go further than the first waterfall. Something that was never mentioned anywhere on their website. Surprise! $12 a ticket to do half of a hike. Dont get me wrong, its a beautiful hike and was very enjoyable, but wasnt worth the hassle of dealing with their website and the unexpected, undisclosed closure (youd think the fees could cover the cost of a ladder repair).
Very nice hike, you walk through the water some times but is worth it
A great half day hike in a beautiful canyon with a creek running through it. Ankle deep water most of the way.Multiple water falls add to this picturesque canyon.
Awesome hike! Would recommend water shoes. There are multiple ladders that you will climb. It is very pretty but it can be a little tricky in a few parts
Just Wonderful and a good Hiking. It takes over 2 hours to climb both waterfalls. But its worth. Your shoes are going definitly wet if you want to go until the last and second one. There a mostly not so many People there. One of the best Slot Canyons in The US. You must pay at the entrance per Person. It was 8 Dollar in 2018. Therse a parking Lot before the hiking Begins. Bring your Camera with you. You can make amazing photos. And dont Forget to bring some water with you for the hot days.
Beautiful hike! The second ladder waterfall is worth hiking to. The water is cold, you’ll get used to it once your feet go numb. Definitely recommend doing!!
This is a great hike, following a stream to a slot canyon. The hike, canyon and waterfall are beautiful. The water is icy cold even in September, we wore waterproof socks and my feet were still cold. They limit the number of hikers to 150 per day and required permit does sell out on weekends especially. A great warm up to hiking the near by Narrows!
