Always an excellent museum. Small with a main room for revolving show. But the three times weve been there, it has been grade A art. Free admission. Small gift shop. Friendly desk.

BEAUTIFUL museum, open, light, and airy, mostly local artists, current exhibit of Jimmie Jones paintings of Mexico and American Southwest, lovely gift store featuring local products. And its FREE! (Donations gratefully accepted.) Located right between SUU campus and Utah Shakespeare Festival, within walking distance of Historic Cedar City. What a gem! Definitely a highlight of our visit! HIGHLY recommended!

Jimmie Jones retrospective is filled with awe-inspiring, red rock plateau landscapes by someone who grew up around them, rather than traveling through. Floor-to-ceiling height canvas paintings envelop the viewer in Jones indigenous, artistic perspective, giving a deeper appreciation for the magnitude and beauty of Utahs varied geology, clouds and skies.

I have never had a bad experience at the Southern Utah Museum of Art. They consistently have enjoyable exhibits that are well displayed and easy to view. Its never too busy, despite being a bite-sized museum. I frequently travel all the way from St. George on a whim to see whats new, often bringing someone else with me. Additionally, they have great (clean) restrooms and outside they have a shaded area with tables and chairs.

There was a childrens workshop using pastels and oil. I took two Granddaughters aged 5 and 7; they had a great time and are excited about going again. The people facilitating the class did a great job and there were lots of happy kids there.

My family and I had a tremendous time at the SUMA for the first time. It happened to be their two-year-anniversary celebration, which made it even better. We got to see the James Surls sculptural exhibit and take part in the celebratory activities, like face painting, cookie-eating, and pin-the-tail-on-the-fox! The space was large and inviting, with beautiful views from the windows. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic, and the exhibit itself was interactive and inspiring to my kids.
