Gorgeous scenery and a great day trip from Vegas. Plentiful creeks and lakes to fish, tons of trees, fresh air and wild critters.Theres an awesome lava field from old lava flows, several scenic areas with valleys and gorges... Animals you may see include deer, sheep, skunk, squirrel, ducks and various other birds...We just love getting out and enjoying nature, and this is an excellent way to do it.
Such a majestic place! If you’re person of faith, this place will simply amaze you. I spent 3 to 4 days there and it didn’t seem like enough time but at the same time it was enough time to realize there has to be a higher power that created all of this beauty. Make sure to ask a local for advice! After all they’ve been there done that. Oh and it’s a great place for a photo shoot!
This was perfect for a family getaway. We chose to go camping instead of staying in a neighboring town cabin, but they have a lot of options available. The hiking is great, there is a lot to see, and the wildlife was fun. Be sure to do research before going though so you know any current regulations on wildlife, campfires, etc. I also recommend taking into consideration holiday weekends. It was pretty busy as we went over Labor Day weekend.
This is my first trip to Duck Creek Campground, the mountains are beautiful, but feels a bit dark on the road up. Theres alot of debris and fallen trees next to the highway, not very inviting, until you reach the campgrounds. The guests are friendly, but to my opinion a bit squeezed in. The camp host is a bit pushy, drive around our campsites 4 times to collect his $19 a night plus $8 parking for 1 xtra vehicle on a double campsite.. ..My daughter and her family enjoy this spot not my preference. However the scenery is gorgeous, the mountains the creeks. I may still have Montana skies in my head...
Dixie National Forest is another way of enjoying southern Utah without dealing with the crowds typically found at Zions and Bryce. There’s something for every persons interests including hiking, biking, camping, swimming, kayaking etc. The red rock formations are something so unique to the area. It gets HOT during the day, so bring sunscreen and adequate shade and water. However, the nights are the perfect temperature, especially with a gentle summer breeze. Many of the trail heads have an out-house station to satisfy your urgent needs. Get away from the crowds and enjoy another part of Utah.
Awesome place! Lots of trails, camping, fire pits and plenty of room for all your toys. We love Navajo Lake where you can drive right to the shore and camp out on the beach and make a fire. Lake is gorgeous - emerald and blue. The drive has lots of places to pull off and enjoy the views. Cool sandbar you can walk across.
There is plenty of camping in various settings from deep forest to out in the open. You want to go fishing, hiking, off roading or just a nice drive? Its beautiful! You can go again and again and see something different each time.
In southern Utah, on the way from Panguitch to Bryce, you drive through a piece of nature with beautiful formations almost along the way - Dixie National Forest. Because they are so close, they are even more attractive, most beautiful in the late afternoon sun. The park already resembles the approaching Bryce Canyon but from a much closer distance. Even the color of the rock formations seemed richer to me. The combination of deep blue sky, orange rocks and greenery is indescribable. After a few hundred meters, Red Canyon follows and the tourist receives a fotolirium tremens. Its beautiful, though sometimes overlooked for its proximity to Bryce Canyon. By driving through the park and really close to the rock formations, you get a full dose of the beauty of southern Utah.
So much beauty in one place! Great forest rangers! Very clean park! So much site seeing. Shuttles to take you all through the park. An abundance of wildlife. A photographers heaven!
Among the best forests that I have ever been to. From red rock canyons to slate gray peaks, Dixie forest has it all.
Man I love Utah. Open camping sites everywhere, and a system of forest roads to get you and your rig there safely. There is so much beautiful scenery here. However, it is heartbreaking to see the damage from the fire a couple of years ago. I will regrow, and be a shining star once again in due time I suppose. We ride dual sport bikes here, and it never disappoints. Some camping sites are next to streams, and if youre lucky enough to snag one, you wont regret it. Have I mentioned that I love Utah. Well... except that whole cant by booze on Sunday thing.Life elevated at its best
This place is wonderful especially when it has snow. We went through the Dixie national Forest on the way to big basin national park. We have fun taking pictures of the snow and trees. It a great place to visit when there is snow and when there isnt any snow. We saw a couple of marmots while driving through the forest in the snow.
There are dozens and dozens of dirt roads for you to bring your RV or tent up. Some of them very secluded. The high altitude makes it very cool in the summer. Posted a couple of pictures of Navajo Lake, which we kayaked one day and then Road around the 11 Mile Loop Hunter bicycles the next day. The General Store in Duck Creek is also great
Land of many uses. Lots of different landscapes from lower desert Forest to steep cliffs, lakes and rivers. Love it
The views are absolutely stunning. Sunrise midday and sunset. Bring your camera And youre willingness to be wowed... absolutely incredible
Mountains, views, fresh air, twisty roads, free range cattle, and other assorted wildlife. A lack of people creating a social distance from covid. Whats not to love? Make sure to stop in at the visitors center for the people and to top off on free water.
This is an incredibly scenic national forest where are you passing the beautiful red rock formations in a row that’s car through the rock. It’s great to either just drive-through or get out and get some red dirt on your shoes. Worth the trip especially if you’re going to see Bryce Canyon/ZionIG: AdventureOverAmenities_
Beautiful scenic drive and a lot of available dispersed camping spots
So much beauty! You cant see this in one day though. Make sure you go during good weather and bring food and water in. Youll need it because there is a lot of hiking and walking to do! Youll love every moment. Youll only experience this here in Utah!
What a Majestic place! The scenery changed so much on the 2 mile trail at Cedar ridge. Breathtaking!
This place is pretty incredible. Driving through the arches is pretty cool. There are 2 which you drive through. There are also many of the same geologic structures that you see in Bryce Canyon National Park which is just a few miles away.As a local I have to say it is both annoying and dangerous when tourists slow down and look at the scenery and try to film it while driving. There are an abundance of turnouts for parking and enjoying the vistas. Please use them. We are extremely happy that you chose to visit our area, but please dont make it dangerous for you and everyone else this road is remote but has a very high volume of traffic.
Dixie National Forest is one of the most beautiful and pristine parts of Utah that I will continue to enjoy. Lots of tall lodgepole pines and wilderness everywhere. Even the population was minimal so it was truly wonderful to be out in nature and not overrun with technology.
My braddah im sooo cold rn some one pls bring a blanket for me and my braddah. The river is rly clean too, bin drinkin from it and not get sick
Its not all burnt 2 a crisp.
Christmas tree hunting above cedar city was a great success!
Great place to camp or just visit
It was beautiful! At the trails off the highway I wish they had bathrooms but its a lovely place! The smells from the different flowers and trees as well as the visually appealing pop off colors in something that makes it easy to hike along and not notice how long youve been there.
Great place to boondock. Enjoyed all the views around Bryce Canyon.
We stayed at a dispersed camping site off of Strawberry Ridge. There was still snow on the ground in late May. The site was large, flat, secluded, and had a fire pit made out of stone. Deer visited at dusk and got very close. It was a nice area, but was colder than some of the surrounding lower elevation areas. still, it was a great place to stay and about an hour drive from Bryce Canyon
Great family fun park. Great sunset viewing location. Picnic, by cycle, hike, etc.. Awesome challenging geocache on site (Crack of Dawn), not hard to find, mentally challenging as you have to shimmy through a crevice to a cave then shimmy out the other end!
Too many photos enjoy the beauty. Tried to camp..people pulling up at all hours of the night...headlights lighting up my tent.
Just go and youll see why its worth 5 stars Im in love with this part of the country
We mapped and followed a very pretty off-road trail. The fall colors and cool weather made for a perfect day. Some of the trails and roads can get a little treacherous if it rains or snows.
One of the most beautiful places on earth! Pines mixed with red Rock, great contrast
Enterprise reservoir is awesome! Great fishing, and lots of space to spread out.
Cedar Breaks National Monument is the best kept secret. I simply love the the early morning hiking all around that area. Spectacular! Star parties, hiking, flower festival in July. Truly awesome.
Beautiful place nice and cool this time of year
Ok. I can’t say enough about this area. You could spend a month here and still not want to leave. You get mountains, deserts, meadows, and canyons and in one. Take the Hells Backbone. You’ll see scenery like a National Park and a fascinating lava field!!
A bit of a trek, but the sights at sunset were gorgeous! Four wheel drive recommended.
Highway 14 is a wonderful shortcut between St. George and Bryce Canyon. Beautiful views. The road is steep and winding but well maintained. Could be tricky after a heavy snow!
We just drive through. The road seemed to be well maintained
This is great locations by Bryce. A lot of RV boondocking sites also.
This is a large area, ideal for outdoor adventurers. There is a lot to do but especially hiking, horse back riding, ATV tours, fishing and generally enjoying beautiful nature. Be sure Out inform yourself about the weather and climatic restrictions. We still saw snow in the end of April. In winter snow chains are mandatory ( until at least 31st of March). If you want to this will be an adventure you will tell to your great grandchildren. Preferably around a campfire.
Beautiful can’t describe it took a day to walk and explore touch and feel the beauty. Memory will last my lifetime.
Its an amazing place. If you like calm and relax time you need come here
Beautiful scenery! Navaho lake was amazing. Some dead trees not sure why but overall was perfect
Great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My family of five love it!
Im still here, it must be good.
Other than the noseeums (small biting bugs) it was a wonderful camping trip! And so beautiful and grand, the colors are amazing. The rock formations awesome and the entire area is magical:)
Beautiful scenery and fresh air!! Nice place to take it easy.
Nice trails for exploring. Clean and unspoiled.
Plenty of open spaces and BLM land for dispersed camping. Beautiful.
Cheryl was awesome! She is friendly, helpful and loves her job.
Southern Utah is a beautiful place.
Beautiful, many different things to see..... Forrest, lakes, lava flows, ice cave, lava cave and tunnels, miles of ohv and hiking trails, great camp ground, nice village Duck Creek Village for food and gas, etc.
Dixie National Forest - Birdseye Trail * Photo Trail - off the road trail that if you have sometime stop at this little spot. tiny little hike and nice rewards and photo shots. nice place to take and hour out to eat lunch and stretch your legs. i love this little spot. :)
All canyons in Utah are amazing!!! Beautiful state.
Love the name & love the place. Awesome rock structures & peaceful place to relax.
Lots of rocks. Choose your tent placement carefully. Beautiful park with awesome views.
Nice drive up to Navajo Lake . At 10,000 foot elevation the temperature dropped to 55° at 3 PM . Nice to get out of the heat in the summer .
Another one of Americas beautiful national forests. Excellent place for a hike or horseback riding or like we did ATV trail riding.
Bring some gatorate as well as plenty of water. Prepare to walk and bring a sweater as it can get cold. Breathtaking views. Fresh air. A little adventure with mother nature. Most visit place for mountain bike sports lovers.
Lovely place, I have been there three times. This time was the fall- late September- the aspen and maple were putting on a show, in the dark green of the pines and spruce. You will not be disappointed in all the wonderful places to see.
We absolutely LOVE Dixie National Forest! Highly recommend going to any of the areas!
Most of Las Vegas that enjoys the outdoors, enjoys cooling off here in the summer.
This is probably the most impressive Ponderosa Pine forests in the country. Beautiful scenery
This national Forrest cover alot of southern Utah and has alot of the prettiest places in utah
Beautiful place for hiking, camping, all out doors. Great for family bonding!
We found a perfect camp site. Amazing sunset and the stars were spectacular.
It is an amazing place. Trails are awesome
Very dry this year. I like it because it is a very quiet Aspen forest with some stunning views.
Beautiful forset with a ton of iconic views
Awesome area to go camping and fishing. Plus enjoy some downtime with the family
Rode thunder mountain mountain bike trail for the first time. It was a great trail! Little bit of everything and a fun, fast ending.
Unbelievable scenery. Great fishing and camping wherever you go.
Lovely place to visit
We came here in the winter with out yak tracks, and it was beautiful. They are many different hikes around for all hiking types. I loved the red rocks with the snow!
So many things to see here. We stopped at Henrie Knoll and millar knoll and looked at the lava rocks. Also visited Mammoth cave.
Went canyoneering here and it was a super fun experience.
Good place. There are caves called mammoth creek, awesome place, good for campimg, fourwheeling.
Really lovely scenery with nicely paved roads. Its pretty chilly up here so make sure you bring a jacket. But if you take the Scenic Bypass, you wouldnt have any doubt of travelling that way.
This place is absolutely beautiful! Stunning pictures seem to take themselves.
Look out for lava remains on scenic route 14.. amazing
Beautiful scenery what more can I say
Absolutely must visit. River beautiful.
Just another example of how great Utah is. The big 5 are just the tip of all the great experiences to have in our beautiful state.
We stopped at a few places inside the Dixie National Forest on our way to Bryce. It was very beautiful and has some very nice hiking. Definitely worth stopping and exploring. A lot less crowded than the National Parks for sure.
Great place to visit. Easy access to the highway and close to a lot of major cities. Many many campsites and great places to fish within the Dixie National Forest. The scenery was beautiful and so was the wildlife. Many deer to be seen and squirrels and chipmunks and fish to be caught along the way
Coolest park to visit. Must go.
Alot of the trails arent safe for horses but other then that it was amazing!
Mammoth Cave is such a great place to check out with a group! We went for a visit during our family reunion and took us around 40-60 minutes with young kids from 2 years old to grown adults. Take good flashlights or headlamps. And old clothes or a change of clothes to keep the car clean.Part of the cave you can enter from a small entrance through bars. (See pictures) the first part of this will be a bit narrow and tight... Once through this section 20 or so feet. Then youll be able to stand and walk down the entire length of the cavern. (See more pictures) exit through another section of bars and out the large Mammoth Cave Crater type section that also has a few off chutes of tubes or areas to check out. Watch you step and duck your heads in areas that are a bit dicy. Can be a little muddy in areas the cave itself does have a few places of dripping water. Overall super cool to check out and anyone who is not real clostrophobic can do this. I would suggest at least 2+ even 4+ groups to stay together and help each other in some of the larger rock areas that youll need to traverse around or over. All in all worth the trip and enjoyed it! Bathrooms are in the parking lot and area is large enough to park plenty of vehicles.
Big and beautiful, others think so to!
Super cool to see, with great hikes that my family enjoyed.
Absolutely beautiful! Specifically, we went to Duck Creek and Navajo Lake. We also went to see the Ice Cave, Duck Creek Village, and Duck Creek Visitors Center (the staff at the Visitors Center were very friendly and helpful). At Duck Creek, the campsite area has everything one would need if tent camping, such as real toilets, water spicketts and large dumpsters in and around the area, but with each numbered campsite (there is a cost for each campsite depending on whether you are visiting for just the day or for extended overnight camping, but the cost is very reasonable) is tucked into the beautiful pine and aspen forest (for overnight camping, reservations are required). The campsite area does close for the winter. Truly a great place to spend time relaxing, be communing with nature, or have camping and hiking fun!
I love Dixie National Forest, and Bryce National Forest, and Escalante. They are all so very amazing. Hikes are spectacular. Drives are spectacular. Beauty just abounds everywhere. Such a delightful area down there. I cant wait to go back and explore some more. Last time I drove on one the the roads in Dixie I saw the most amazing ice Waterfall. I had to stop and get pictures even though it was cold outside. It was beautiful with the huge mountains around it.
Beautiful Rocks Nice Quiet not easy to walk
Had a awesome time fishing, camping, and seeing some amazing views with my husband.
The red rock and the casto canyon atv trail. Plus bryce canyon national park, tropic reservoir, pine lake the list goes on. Love it
