Love this gem in Cartersville! Away from the city and so worth the drive. Beautiful grounds the deserve spending a little time exploring as well as the museum. My granddaughter (age 6) loved the dinosaurs, the rocks & minerals and the planetarium. My college kid enjoyed herself too and different parts of the exhibits brought up new topics of conversation from her current studies. Great social distancing, very clean and felt perfectly safe. Fantastic day at Tellus!

Our 4 YO loved it. It was also entertaining for my wife and I. The planetarium was great, but the supervolcanoes movie they showed in it was a bit dull. The fossil dig was closed and so were most of the hands on exhibit. Would have given 5 stars if more things were available like the dig and the cafe.

They did a great job of making everything clean Covid wise. I live how serious they were about everything. Great protocols. The museum itself is very nice. They display everything in a pleasing way. Overall its a great place to visit. We took our time and made a day of it but you could easily do it in 1-2 hours. Its got 3 main exhibit areas and a interactive area.We went during spooky week and the decorations were cute, but sometimes in the way of reading the information.

This massive brontosaurus is the first thing you see entering the different Halls. First timer, but was very pleased with the experience. Very affordable. With the Covid 19 going on two of the venues that my great nephew would of loved were still closed. This was to be part of all of celebrating our June birthdays. We tried waiting it out but went on up yesterday. It was worth the trip.

Although the exhibits were very detailed, there werent many different themed ones to look at. We came mostly for the dinosaurs, but expected to see way more than we actually did. What was there (at least when we went) was a dinosaur exhibit, precious rocks and minerals/earths crust and earthquakes exhibit, a automotive/spaceship exhibit and a solar house.Sadly, this was my familys first experience at a museum.... it was lackluster. I feel like if we went to another museum with more exhibits we wouldve enjoyed our time more.It was somewhat interactive, sure, but with only 3 exhibits and a solar house there wasnt much variety. Of course, the planetarium was an option, but you have to pay extra for it.We left unsatisfied and underwhelmed.

Fascinating, educational, hands-on & enlightening displays for young or old. I noticed how there was a well-organized, well-staffed & well maintained & clean facility. Wow! Well worth the drive. My family took a drive to this Science facility located in Cartersville, GA. The facility well over 120,000 sq. ft. focused on all things Science. Thoroughly impressed. We were extremely excited to visit because my daughter will be leaving for college soon to study Biomedical Engineering and my stepdaughter will be leaving for college soon to study a STEM focused program. My love and I try to find activities for the family that will increase their love for science.Allison, the service desk attendant was very accommodating and well versed in all things pertaining to the Museum. Our first stop was the Weinman Mineral Gallery. Thousands of minerals, gems and gold to view. I was mind blown. Our second stop was the Fossil Gallery. By far the largest exhibit of fossils that Ive seen.We then entered the Bently Planetarium to watch the 45 show. The tickets to this show was an additional $3.50. Inexpensive for a 45 minute show in a comfy, cozy space. After the Planetarium show, we visited the Miller Science in Motion Museum. So many exhibits of vehicles, aircraft and so much more. The family and I then headed to the Vulcan Materials Gem Panning area. We all enjoyed this activity. We then headed over to the Fossil dig. What an adventurous time indeed. Unfortunately we did not take a tour of the West Virginia University Solar House because the next tour was set to start after our departure, we will be visiting again. It was a phenomenal experience for my entire family. I would recommend. Five stars indeed.

The fossil digging and family discovery/child area is closed. That is sad, but is done to protect visitors. However, rest exhibits are open, flow of people is directioned to minimize the close proximity between visitors. Some new Things by Leonardo da Vinci. Require appointment/ registration in advance to minimize perhaps the amount of people inside. It took us about 3 hours to complete the tour, kids will stop often to read about different things. If you collect gems, take a picture of gems identification, will enjoy it at home later. Solar house is open between 11 and 3 pm, take a right when exiting from museum door.

All its natural history and rock exhibits assume evolution and millions of years of development. The best evidence doesnt support this. For example, the Mt. St. Helens volcano exploded in the 1980s. Newly formed rocks from the volcano were sent to various labs around the world. Each lab dated rocks very differently. Some dated it in the thousands of years, others in the hundreds of thousands, and still others in the millions of years. At the time the test was performed the rocks were only 30-something years old. Radio-carbon dating doesnt reveal true dates.

Super great experience. They have exhibits geared towards any age and interest level. Im a biomedical research scientist, and there was stuff that I was interested in, stuff my wife (who is more of a creative type) really enjoyed, and stuff to keep our 1-year-old and 3-year-old entertained. You even get to dig for fossils and pan for real semi precious stones and take them home! And theyre part of a larger program with hundreds of other science museums worldwide so we actually got in free with our membership to the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. Had loads of fun and will definitely go back if were ever in the area again.

Good, varied collection of exhibits inside the museum. When I visited, there were dinosaur bones, vintage electric vehicles, the cockpit of an old Soviet jets, minerals and gems. I also managed to pan for some gems in one of their labs. The museum ground is also really gorgeous, with lots of trees and a big grassy lawn. There are also some giant construction vehicles on display, along with some antenna dishes. Ive never needed to pay to just walk around the museum ground, so the Tellus museum grounds could be a nice place to stop buy if youre driving on I-75 (its located really close to the interchange).

Overall they have the school field trip thing down. It’s like a field trip factory here.I have been here 3 times this year and the experience is vastly different between 1, 3 and 6th grades. Let’s just say that 6th grade is more fun that 1st. However as boring as 1st grade was my son took home and remembered a lot so I’m not really complaining...more like preparing.Lunch has also been varied. The 1st graders and indoors but the 3rd graders outside in the 40 degree shade which meant lunch with complaining.I do feel they would introduce some more modern items into the museum as most everything remains unchanged. There is a traveling section that can be cool. The last one was meteorites. Very cool to read about but didn’t really cold the kids attention except for the termite that was killed by a meteorite and preserved for us to look at.There are also several electric chargers there if you have an EV.

The Tellus museum is just about an hour north of Atlanta but well worth the drive, especially if you are interested in gems and minerals. I was there to look primarily at the early road transportation including replicas of early electric cars. I was especially keen on seeing one of the few remaining Chevy EV 1 electric cars as it has been decades since I have seen one in action. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the the pavilion or stop in the cafe. There is also a wonderful gift shop.

This place has it all: dinosaur fossils, ancient American Indian artifacts, a planetarium, car/motorcycle/airplane/spaceship exhibits (even a MiG 21). Interactive exhibits for kids like gold panning and fossil digging. The one area of the museum that the staff will watch you and your kids like a hawk is the vehicle exhibits since theyre all strictly no touch exhibits. Seriously...Like a hawk. Theyre not rude, just very very stern. I dont have a problem with it, but Im sure the parents that dont like to tell their kids no would get butt hurt.Active military is free and dependents are half price for general admission tickets. Children under two are freeThe cafe is decent for the price (minus the pizza. The kids did not like it). Just be aware that they do not allow outside food or drinkOnly reason I knocked a star off is the terrible location. Im not sure why its in Cartersville. Maybe the land or taxes are cheaper? Even from Kennesaw/Marietta its nearly 25-30 minutes.Go here because you wont be disappointed and your kids will have a blast

She looked behind me and asked how many children, I told her none she looked at us with a disgusted expression. She then asked what county were from. We are local folks! And she again looked at us like this is a kid museum why are you here? We felt very unwelcome. We did enjoy the time we spent there and yes we saw other unaccompanied adults. I hope they were served better. Btw - we wont be bringing our grand children here. Also her name is printed our receipt .

Each exhibit was maintained nicely although we did run across a few that were in need of some repairs. We asked if we could see it anyways but we just got a smirk. That was frustrating. It would have been nice to see more employees to interact with and to answer questions.EDIT: Im not sure how to respond to the owners post so Im editing the original.
