I grew up on Grove Ave. Mother had 7 boys and one sister . Fort Washington at that time in the early 50’s and up to 1962 was our park . Our friends and neighbors played for years there, baseball football, you name it ..... it was our park as there were no parks to play in . There were many houses in the area and just one grocery and diner . Most of us were poor and never new it but we all got along well black and white all played together . Hymie’s was a great diner to get a coke, cakes, candy and so on. The Rudolph’s at the diner were wonderful people . They let us buy groceries on a charge until my father got paid. We all had no money. Life has been good since we all moved on.
I cant believe there are reviews that say that this park is boring or unimportant. This park, and whats here, is the oldest fortification of the American Revolution in existence! George Washington ordered it built, personally. Its a huge piece of American history. It was never built to be a park, it was built to protect Boston from Cambridge. If youre interested in American history, definitely a MUST see.
Nice quiet little park. More for quiet contemplating than Frisbee.
Not worth a individual trip due to how small it is, but a awesome history spot and a great place to poke around in for five minutes on your way somewhere
Pretty small and gives quite the fright at night. The outline statues look like a person creeping toward you.
It needs to have a few benches along with barrels inside the park. Also, the park should be enclosed
I pass through there everyday is a park with little bet of history but most people use their dogs is a nice place to bring your best friend k9
History we have it easy
Its in a pretty rundown area, surrounded by large private parking lots. Nothing interesting or relaxing about the park.
Open air dog Park. Street parking no facilities.
Clean place, nice park
Great place to walk the dog
Great place to bring your dog around 6:30 pm good crowd
Think its a dog park but its really nice and peaceful every time Im there. I like to come here and relax.
What a shame the area the park is in is not more welcoming. Would make for better photos. Enjoyed my visit here none the less.
Great little piece of history that is primarily used as a dog park now
Small park, would be OK if it wasnt for all the small pieces of broken glass everywhere. Only giving it 3 stars because you can bring your dog.
This is a small park with a few silhouette style sculptures. More of an unofficial dogpark than a place to picnic as the view is rather plain and a train goes by every so often.
Good for dog play and history!
