Went to see The Journey to Freedom sculpture. I was amazed at the amount of detail the artist captured. It was definitely worth the drive. Im happy I caught it before it left Maryland.
Amazing mural. It is a little tucked away though with not a whole lot of signs pointing in the right direction. Definately worth a visit with some directions.
Extremely disappointing. We drove over an hour and it wasnt open after the website said it was. I hope it is updated to reflect true hours and tour times...
In the spirit of Harriet Tubman, this little town store is full of memorabilia from the era, videos about her and book to peruse for more information. This is staffed by volunteers. A very generous gesture to keep alive an important part of our nations history. Call for the hours. Today they close at 3:00.
Love this mural!!!! ️️️Stop pass anytime before or after coming off the Chesapeake Bridge. ️
A real learning experience. Too bad COVID19 limited the movie
This is a tiny storefront in Cambridge filled with all sorts of odds and ends. I wouldnt give it three stars except that if youre interested in Harriet Tubman youll be in Cambridge anyway, so if you miss it dont worry too much. Its much more important that you get to the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center, which is the new museum in nearby Church Creek. I get the impression that the people here at the Organization did a lot of lobbying to get that museum built, but now there isnt a lot for the Organization to do and show.
We had great day learning facts about Ms Tubman and the fight for freedom that she championed for! She was a great woman of God and courageous leader. So proud of my heritage.
Not ready to find but great photos when you do
There are some interesting details that I didnt remember when I was taught about this heroic woman in school...Its downtown and there are plug-in parking spots for hybrids and Teslas within walking distance...a NICE surprise!!We were there in the middle of the week so traffic was minimal...I cant vouch for any other time of the week...Worth a visit if youre in the area!!
Great experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Came as a follow-up to visiting the Harriet Tubman Educational Center at the Eastern Shore. Small location, here, but plenty of artifacts and history to go around. They show a film on PBS about her life and the famous mural is just outside the back door, around the corner to the right! Check it out!
What absent brain left the OPEN sign on the website when clearly the museum is CLOSED?AND the phone line and the website are NOT set up to tell you the museum is closed.Fix Americas games, Lord.
Great photo...need a bigger sign showing where it is... back of bldg by police dept
Dream come true! Beautiful mural
It was the best experience I have had learning about someone so interesting and instrumental in our history and not just as black people but as people in general.
Came here five years ago when we came to the Hyatt Regency for our Anniversary. I was enamored then and her story is as captivating as ever and has received greater publ8c iattention since the movie about her life. Love the new mural and the continuously running PBS stories abour William Still amd others.
There is so much more about Harriet Tubman than what is taught in school. This facility depicts many aspects of her life.
Oh my Excellent! Informative! And the picnic areas were Great!
Great piece of local history to enjoy in historic Cambridge MD
This tiny, hidden museum is truly a gem! I took 5 kids (ages 5-12) and my 70-yr-old parents, and every single one of us was overcome with the power of this place. First, walk around the corner and take in the new mural. Its incredibly moving, and it set the tone for what we were about to soak in, inside. Just the life of Harriet Tubman wouldve been enough to amaze, but they have so much more. I dont know how they packed it all in that space! Definitely worth the trip!!!
Drove 2.5 hours to get here only to find that the Museum is not open....even though the website says its hours are 12-3 pm. Very disappointed. Can you post something on the site to address the fact that you are complete closed during the pandemic.
Was not open. They need to update their website regarding hours of operations.
You get to associate the times, elements, and the culture. And, it is a quaint place to just walk around, enjoying the shops.
We visited on a day when the museum was closed. It was not a fair opportunity to really access the establishment.
Great history - Need longer hours!
Very educational. This is a place where it would be inspirational for school children to visit. Lots of informative graphics and settings to help understand the heritage. Beautiful
The museum is closed due to COVID 19, and probably won’t open until this fall.
Great piece of history, lovely site
Very nice staff, small but interesting museum.
Yall check out Michael Rosato his painting is awesome
The Harriet Tubman Visitor Center, the Harriet Tubman Museum, and other Underground landmarks really brought added depth and appreciation for the legacy we celebrate of Harriet Tubman.
The museum is small but I am impressed that there is a place that honors Harriet Tubman. With the racially intrepid attitudes that are prevalent today; this tribute museum “keeps hope alive”.
Phenomenal!!! Everyone should visit this museum. Very well put together. Inspiring and made me so proud.
I took my 2 biracial granddaughters to educate them Harriet Tubman. They are 6 and 9. Good readers. There was nothing interactive. The movie was only black impressive figures talking Bout Harriet Tubmans impact on history. The kids got very little from th ed museum(sadly) since there was so much READING.I am a teacher and we had the museum to ourselves since we got there early, but all they wanted to do was touch things and see a REAL MOVIE!
Small but very informative. Friendly staff, incredibly important museum to an American hero. Must see if you’re in the area.
The best museum dedicated to single individual!
Very interesting . Lots of literature. Small museum. Films shown at museum was informative
Was so breathtaking seeing the Harriet Tubman mural in person with my great friends and Dialproductions.
The mural is in a small alley, but there are more murals on other buildings. The museum is closed on Wednesday. The Harriet Tubman Underground is 10 minutes away well worth the visit.
A must see for your family. Amazing experience
A very interesting place to visit. Educational. Perhaps a well kept secret on the Eastern Shore.
I Love learning about Black Hisory, took my Grandson. We need to educate our children, because the school system does not!
I LOVED the mural, but it was really hard to find. I feel for such a prominent hometown figure, a more accessible view should have been offered, but at least its a start.
This museum is very well done. The art, the bronzes, the stories are excellent! The only disappointing thing was the video/ movie that had an actress that was excellent in her portrayal of Harriet but the sound was so horrible that you couldnt understand most of it. So sorry about that...... but the rest of the museum was great!
Absolutely breathtaking mural...
This museum gives so much more information and insight on black history and the underground railroad than history books do.
A must see for yourself! Very nice place but the surprise is outside.
Great educational trip with a large painting of Harriet Tubman on the side of the building.
Wonderful mural. As powerful in person as the pics
Very informative!!
Fairly good layout and informative. See picture on outside wall
This is an amazing place to visit and get a deeper understanding of Harriet Tubman beautiful facility
Small but very cozy with great information
A gem of information.
An interesting small museum. Provides plenty of detail, Im sure anyone could learn something new here.
You will walk away thoroughly educated!
Wish they had put the mural of Harriet Tubman out on Rt. # 50 where folks could see it. Gorgeous, once you find out where it is!!
Informative displays that include accessibility features such as Braille translations and models for hands on learning.
I drove my family over an hour and a half to see this museum and we loved it! A wealth of information and objects from the time that the man working there was more than happy to walk us through most of it. What an amazing place! Im so happy I took my kids and I plan to return. They were even able to show me her wanted poster.Nice, friendly people and close easy parking.
Beautiful experinece walking through the architecture and landscape. Powerful tribute to an incredible and formidable woman.
Amazing experience about an amazing woman!!!
Learned so much more about the great woman of unwavering faith. Everyone should go.
This place is a must for educational purposes. I learned a lot. I cried a lot
Very educational....a true gem in downtown Cambrige
Awesome. Its Small But Has A Lot Of Information
Very informative. Be certain to visit both locations
Great little museum, and the mural out back is so inspiring and beautiful.
Very emotional and inspiring museum. Very informative
This is a very nice small town museum dedicated to an incredible woman. A lot of information and photographs. Harriet Tubman needs to be promoted so that she is more widely recognized for her historically significant contributions to the American story. The 20 minute video was infirmative.
This place downtown Cambridge its a good place to get historical facts about the area by the people whos families area descendants of the county has been running since 90s I heard great respectable people of Cambridge md opened an had it heard A lot about Dr.Mckelvey lady who past May she rest in peace she did play about Harriet Tubman plenty of history from descendants of dorchester county here then you have other place. Down Blackwater dont think no one from Dorchester county work there thats state operated. But we appreciate the thought even tho they still monopolizing from slavery an doing nothing for community
Wonderful experience being there. Learning history...
Very engaging and educational!
Great stop but They need longer hours.
I would have rated my experience higher but the person at the information desk was not so friendly and rude. I decided not to do the tour and bike ride alongside the Ironman instead. Maybe another time for sure.
Must see its great !!!
Wonderful facilities with informative and enjoyable exhibits.
Very small space but plenty of artifacts and history to go around.
Very nice, interesting history. Great job.
Pleasurable and reflective art about our National history.
Need today offer movies shown for dale and not just refer people to a website to purchase.
What a charming heart centric organization celebrating the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman! The video they show is excellent as it gives you the full picture of her 90 odd years of life...not just her legacy with the URR but her work in the civil war which I knew not. Staff here really exemplify their committment to her legacy. While this site is small and has a more old school vibe, it is intimate compared to the new modern facility just 15 minutes away...the latter visually fantastic and worth seeing for different reasons.
Very informative and the mural outside is beautiful
What a very educational experience. Thank you.
Very nice, will visit again!
So much information. Phenomenal woman.
...great interpretation! Great volunteers! So very vibrant...
Beautiful mural outside...wonderful people inside!
Best mural Ive ever seen!
WOW!! This trip down to MD was my 13 yr old daughter, her best friend whos 15, my mom and me. We could not believe the magnificent history that was laid out in this town. What a wonderful organization. Thank you for the history, thank you for my history. Everyone should stop by to visit and learn about the u told details of American history.
A great place to visit for a history lesson
