Three of us met at Windy Winery as sort of an impromptu celebration of the arrival of Fall in SE Texas. Combined with going afterwards to the Antique Rose Emporium, it was a perfect afternoon. We ordered flights of red and white accompanied by two marvelous trays of savory goodies, and enjoyed them on the outside terrace ! Really, really nice and I recommend highly.
This place was recommended to us as being not crowded and with outdoor seating. It does have outdoor seating. Unfortunately, when we got here there was a bus and bridal party all crowding the inside, which in times of covid is a no go.We managed to order a wine flight and cheese plate in a temporary quiet spell before the bridal party crowded us out. The cheese plate was fantastic. The wines are mostly sweet wines, even their so called dry tasting flight. Thats fine for me as I prefer sweet wines but my husband wasnt happy.
Beautiful place and wonderful owners just a small family business they spend time to talk to you and explain the process wonderful wine
Nice place with lots of comfortable spots to hang out inside and outside. Friendly staff that wants to help you find what you would like.We like dry reds and found that is a wine category outside of their wheelhouse. The Lenior is the driest red they have but it was earthier and softer than our liking. We also tried their Merlot & Rose and found them to be similarly off our palates. We didnt try their whites or sweets, which seem to be their focus.
Wasnt very friendly. Wine was bad. And we had to do a tasting in plastic, when other where doing them in glass. Wont be back.
There was not a single wine we tasted here that we enjoyed. I would not recommend taking time out of your day to visit.
Good time with good people at a Texas winery. The owners, staff and neighbors took the time to speak with us and talk about wine and labor of love that yields a wonderful bouquet of offerings. Dont sleep on this place or the jalapeno infused wine... great for cooking or sipping!
Exceptional Winery! Live acoustic blues musician! The saucy Red is en flick!
Awesome time...sweetest people. The wine was excellent. ...being from Louisiana we specially enjoyed the jalapeno infused wine. But the were all very tasty. My bf loved the Port. Thanks for the hospitality
Very hospitable owners that are happy to talk about their wine. I was last there 10 years ago, and am glad the opportunity presented itself for another visit.
Lovely winery. The wine is very flavorful here (my favorite is the Jal-spice, a lovely rose with hints of jalapeño). The people who run this winery are obviously very passionate about what they do, and they are genuinely friendly and make you feel absolutely welcome. Ive come to this winery many times and plan on visiting many, many more.
I dont know if it was because this winery wasnt prepared right for their wine festival or what, but it was a big disappointment. I was charged 20 dollars (with a 10% off coupon) for wine tasting consisting of six 1 oz pours and a token for a full glass without even allowing me the option not to purchase the token or even telling me what it was for. Then we had to wait around in a crowded room for the tastings of wines that were some of the worst Ive tried. I couldnt even pick a wine that I wanted to use the token on to stomach a full glass.
A very nice day for a glass of wine and spend time with my wife.
Great family oriented place. They greet you as soon as you open the door. The owners are open and really want you to have a great experience and will asnwer any questions that you may have.
Owners that treat you like family and make you feel special, great little place to visit
Its been quite some time since Ive visited Windy Winery, but yesterday, a group of us decided to head over to see what changes, if any, have happened since our last visit one year ago.First driving up I noticed theyve started adding onto the main building, and for the moment, I thought they might have remodeled their seriously dated interior design. Unfortunately, all the new construction is being used for Tank rooms and seriously needed restrooms. As for the interior, nothing has changed other than their tasting bar has been rearranged to try to create a different look and due to this rearrangement, they have only the minimal seating. While there, we all decided to do a Tasting and I guess it didnt dawn on us that maybe we should have asked what the cost would be which was our mistake. Im not going to give my opinion of their wines since everyone has their own palate to flavors, but I will say for us, there were only 3 semi-sweet wines we would have considered purchasing. So being open minded and overlooking the fact that the new construction is only for tanks, needed restrooms and an interior that needs serious updating, we had a good time until it was time to pay for our tasting. Im not sure what theyre thinking, but to charge $16.00 a person for a tasting is Absurd and will cost them a lot of customers.Needless to say, we didnt purchase any bottles after this tasting price and unfortunately will not return.
How about going home for some good wine; well, thats how the wife and I feel when we visit Windy. The owners are always striving to reach out to customers and they produce great tastings including ones from locally grown grapes.
I have visited many wineries in Virginia and Texas, but I must say that the tasting fee of $16 for only 5 wines was much higher than I can remember ever seeing. The wines were okay, but I question how often we will go back again.
Windy Winery is not much to look at on the outside, but they have several great wines and the owners will take time to personally answer your questions and be hospitable. Daves was my wifes favorite of the whole wine tour weekend.
Great wine & get place to relax on patio with music by Mike Gallo.
Such a beautiful and spacious place with incredible views and awesome owners!
Traveled here on the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I tried the first official tasting they offered for TBWT (white wine), which was a little sweet for our palates, but refreshing. But, since I am not a huge fan of white, I am basing the majority of my review on the red we tried. We wanted to try a dryer red, so the sweet staff let us try the Syrah. It was very light for a Syrah (in my opinion), and left me with not any huge fuzzy feelings like I get when I try a good or outstanding red wine. The tasting room was quaint, and they had two lovable dogs on the back porch my husband and I went to say hi to. Family feel. If only the red wine had caught my attention more, I would have given them 4 stars. Maybe red is just not their forte.
We went on a Sunday and it was our last stop before going home after touring the other two the previous days. The calendar said they were having tastings for Sangrias also so I was extremely excited. We showed up and it was also Grape Stomping Festival. I wasnt impressed with the wines and the facility had fold out white table and chairs. They didnt have cheese and didnt offer the special Sangrias. They needed to push and sale their wines, they didnt have a family cozy feeling that I love so we didnt stay long. It was $11 for 5 different types of wine.
Agree with last reviewer...was not sure if i was in the right place but it was worth the stop. really enjoyed the wine and the patio!
Difficult to hear our guide and did not enjoy any of the wine.
Great wine. Great patio
