Took advantage of great weather (60 + in November) to visit Franklin Park Zoo. Had a great time even though some of my favorite animals were not on exhibit and gorilla building is undergoing renovations. In addition to the animals there is a great playground for kids and there are a lot of colorful large animals and flowers which are lit up at night. Due to Covid they are currently requiring that you by your timed entry ticket before you go to the zoo.
My girlfriend and I went for the Boston lights show. Its was amazing. Think I went overboard with the photos but I hope you enjoy. Even though it was a night showing some of the animals came out to watch us. I seen an camel, emu and a bird that kept telling at us. I didnt realize how big this place was. We plan on going back to see the animals as well. I recommend giving this place a chance.
The Zoo is a must see attraction in the Day or Night. This was an awesome night-time exhibit at Franklin Park Zoo.Fun for all ages even if you dont play in the playground!!!
Great zoo in the city. Lantern festival going on until mid Nov. Pretty displays even during the daytime. Great playground area for kids. Animal enclosures are large and animals looked healthy.
What a wonderful experience seeing Boston Lights at the zoo.It was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks to National Grid and all the zoo staff and especially Boston Lights for a great show.
I was so impressed by the night light lantern exhibit! I expected just a few small displays but there were dozens and it took a good half hour to walk through them all. We saw luminous versions of pandas, lobsters, fish, lizards, an enormous dragon, all the Chinese zodiacs, and so many more. Some moved and others had changing colors and lights. All were beautiful. Reserve well in advance as spots fill quickly. This exhibit is definitely worth a visit!
I been here a couple of times. Its always fun to go, but my only issue is that the animals have such good hiding spaces its almost like playing a game of wheres Waldo. Most of the time you cant even find a lot of the top animals because they are hidden away so well. Maybe adding a different view would help so that we can actually see all the animals we paid to see. Overall great experience though
I went to see whats called Boston Lights and it was absolutely amazing. They have (for those of you who dont know) oversized animal shaped lanterns that had all the colors of the Las Vegas Strip accompanied with themed music that set the mood for a great evening with the entire family. Its a winner.
Went for the Boston lights this year. Ive gone there since 2017. The lights every year are always different and worth going to!
Went to the Boston Lights show at the zoo. It was great. Unfortunately I think all shows are sold out but will watch for it next year.
These photos are from a special event at night. The lights were amazing! They encouraged social distancing as well. Overall the zoo itself during the day is a fun time. Its been a staple of my childhood and will continue to be a staple for a very long time.
The zoo did a great job with the Christmas lights. Easy parking and good crowd dispersion. Locals in loud dirt bikes put a slight damper on the big holiday light display. Lights loved it!
October 2020: The silk lanterns for Zoo Lights are fantastic. Even when not lit up, the lanterns are a treat. The animal enclosures are getting better and better over time. The arrows for a clockwise COVID-19 loop are a bit confused in places, but generally working. Nearly everyone was wearing their mask correctly. Our longest wait was for the gorilla house. At 10 minutes, the wait was manageable. It was good to know there wouldnt be any crowds. As always, a membership admission feels like a great value. Especially when bringing a friend for a social distancing walk with great scenery.
Boston lights was sooo good!!! Went with my daughter, mask required. Sold out when we got there. Bought tix online weeks ago.Well worth it and so beautiful.
It was a rainy day, It was ment for the light display they were showing off... the family had a great time.
Great zoo, very family friendly, with big cars and giraffes. 4/5 because I didnt think it was a very safe place to be during COVID. Half the guests werent wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart.
Its a very good place to done some happy time with family not just as a typical so but all the other activities they organise are worth going. The last expo with paper lights creations was really cool to watch, something I could recommend doing it kids and adults alike.
Franklin Park has more history than I realized. This is a beautiful place to have a picnic and walk around the neighborhood.Free parking along the roadside so you dont have to go far to set up your place to picnic.Head over to the zoo and check out Boston lights, go at night if you want to see the lights and go during the day if you want to see the animals is my suggestion. Enjoy. ️️
Boston Lights was AWESOME! A must see! Very Bright & Beautiful!
Went to Franklin Park Zoo to see Boston Lights. This years theme was apparently Asian. Although this is my first time ever attending. WOW!! So much better than I expected. Starting with the trees outside the main entrance and the entrance itself. Multiple tunnels of beautiful light sculptures that you walk through all along the paths, immersing you into the beauty between exhibits. Lovely soothing and relaxing music magically surrounds you which really completes the sensory experience of feeling like you are within a wonderland!! The weather on the evening I was there was pretty good. A little chilly, but not too cold and no wind or precipitation. My sister and I stopped at a stand offering hot chocolate near the beginning. Right near the glowing panda sculptures. It was absolutely delicious! And we both swore it warmed us up as soon as it cooled enough to drink, and kept us warm through the rest of our visit. About 1 1/2 - 2 hours to walk through and see everything, as its not a very large zoo. Depending on how much you stop and how long you spend taking pictures. We did not have any children with us, but enjoyed watching the children around us in amazement. And there were a couple of interactive exhibits that the kids seemed to really enjoy. Ive heard that the tickets sold out quite quickly for each session, so best to get them as early as possible. We were lucky enough to get tickets through the hospital where my sister works. So if you work for a large employer check at your HR office. If you werent able to make it this year, I urge you to put it on your calendar for next year. Yes, its that good! Wonderful family, friends or romantic couple evening. And all proceeds go to help support the zoo! If someone took me to this on a first date, I might just marry them! Heehee! Dont miss this people!! Wonderful memories I know Ill have for years to come. And boy did my sister and I need a positive, relaxing experience, as stressed as weve both been this year. Like everyone else. And this really did the job.
I have my walk day on a regular basis very pleasant love the park happy to see so many people walking makes me feel safe during the twilight hours
I got here too early but as the evening progressed the experience got much better. They did a fantastic job. A must see.
Amazing experience... the new light zoo experience was beautiful I recommend bringing family especially with kids for a stroll.
It was always nice visiting thr. Especially when they have some special events going on. This visit I was able to saw giraffe too. Kids love being thr.
Since the reopening during social distancing I can honestly say this was the best zoo experience. You need to order tickets online and for a specific entrance time but honestly I have enjoyed feeling like the zoo isnt overcrowded. What a change!
This is a beautiful little zoo. The walking path (established as response to COVID) lets you see all the animals that feel like being out (it was super hot the day I went, so some animals chose to hide in the shade). The staff with whom I did have interactions was very friendly. If youve got a couple hours to spare, I highly recommend checking out this zoo. They have parking, but it is also easy to reach via mass transit.
A great experience with family and friends. Well worth it.....
Kids love it. They love the playground too...
Great activity to get outside and do something you wouldnt normally do. Make sure you get tickets online now because they dont sell them in person because of Covid. Parking is free and could find easily. Hard to know which way to go because it is meant to be a one way, people arent following that rule. Some areas had lines while most didnt.
Wonderful golf course, great way to relax, exercise, golf etc...very diverse park and as you can tell by the pics stunningly scenic.
The Gorillas were awesome
So beautiful. Its q good place to be in family
I had food poisoning and the animals look sad compared to other zoos i have been. The most important thing, staff was super nice. They have tons of sanitizing stations, everyone had their mask on and following the one way, traffic throughout the zoo. It was good.
The light show is great but to be honest my kids enjoyed them more during the day, Im sad the truck the kids can climb in to look at the lions was blocked off this year (but understand it was due to covid) its always fun when I take my kids here :)
A very big zoo compared to others in MA. They had a really impressive display for Boston Lights, but there were less animals than I was expecting but that could have been because we went in the fall.
Boston Lights installation was outstanding and well worth the price of admission, well handled for COVID concerns, one loop through the park in a spaced out manner. Food options were very limited, but had a great time
Franklin Park is beautiful. My whole family enjoys going there. Basketball, golf and a zoo! What more can a family ask for?
BOSTON LIGHTS: A LANTERN EXPERIENCE is amazing at Franklin Park Zoo! Great for adults and children. Safe outdoor social distancing throughout... Going to go again with the kids...
Great running path, some pull up bars and other equipment to work out. My kids love the zoo
Doing a great job during the COVID-19 pandemic… New outdoor exhibits. Giraffes! Need I say more? Call or go to the website for tickets as entry is timed. Lantern Festival at night… Fun for the kids!
I went post COVID so Im not sure if thats why theres very few animals. We were there around 2pm and most of the animals were sleeping. My 2 year old was crying from the disappointment. She did enjoy the park with the slides and swings.
Boston Lantern was amazing! My neice loved it. Directions for parking arent great if you arent familiar with the area.
It was more about the light show n sculptures than animals not impress w the animals but the scenarie was beautiful
I happened to come through while they were preparing their evening light setup, which looks amazing! I will definitely come back to check it out. Overall nice park, but is very much a free for all on COVID related issues and social distancing/mask wearing seems to only be a suggestion within the zoo. Otherwise very nice, especially the tropical enclosure.
The Boston lights was a huge hitBeautiful animals and scerenry done in lightsEveryone was practicing social distancingLoved that they had you go in one way and come out the other way.Great that it was by reservationsOnly downfall was the parking
Amazing Time Looking At the Franklin Zoo Lights A Must See
We didnt just mozzie in at 9:30pm we PURCHASED tickets for 9:30. Absolutely no idea we would be rushed hurried and forced out at 10:25pm. Were young seniors and to have our fun with one another cut so abruptly short turning the music and the lights off was not nice at all. We waited so long to miss out on so many beautiful things that actual good people made for this exhibit. People with CHILDREN PURCHASED 9:30PM tickets it was disappointing to see them rushed out. Shame on the way things were done to us.
Great for all ages! My 6 and 2 year old loved it and cant wait to go back. we went with a group of friends, 5 moms and 11 kids. The playground is awesome, area to sit and eat. Food is available to purchase or you can bring your own.Discount tickets are available at some libraries and they also offer a military discount
Had so much fun the lights were amazing!!
Nice park for a city park. Could do with a bit more upkeep when it comes to some of the bush but it is generally clean and peaceful.
Good time with the family, the kids will love the lights
I go just about every year. It was beautifully decorated. Alot of the animals were temporarily not open. All around a good time. Ill go again.
Good fun place and which can keep you occupied for 3-4 hours. Kids will have fun. Recently they did some renovation and have made it more attractive and beautiful.
I have been coming to this park for years. I love how relaxing and quiet it can be. This is a good place to walk, bike, run or jog as well as bring the family. The zoo is also a nice attraction here as well. During the summer you will find mnay events take place here too.
Great day at the zoo..Took my nephew and he loved the animals...
Light show was great for all who went kids and adults ! We walked for an hour and a half ! Well worth it
Very spacious zoo! Putting zebra, wilderbeast, and giraffe together so everyone has more space is an excellent idea. The lion park is very well designed. Id come back again on a not so hot day :D
We went for the lantern exhibit at 6:00 with 2 daughters & their children ages 3, 4 & 6 & we all absolutely loved it!! The displays of lantern animals, fish & flowers was breath taking, hoping to go back again at night.
Boston Lights at Franklin Park Zoo. Well worth the advance purchase waiting times. Perfect family event for a cool fall evening.
Well laid out even with covid restrictions. Had a great time! Thanks for the great service, and for the wheelchair.
Wow it was Awesome...My family and I loved it....
Its a great place to take your kids. Lot of fun activities for them.
Great zoo. Much bigger than Stone with cooler animals. The light-up exhibit is even gorgeous during the day when not lit as well and made the trip feel festive. Most visitors wore masks and observed social distancing but a few allowed their children to run around without masks in close quarters with others (including in the indoor portion of the rain forest exhibit), so that made us uncomfortable and put a damper on things. It would have been nice if zoo staff had been there to remind them of the requirement but you cant expect them to be in all places at once. Made it around most of the exhibits with little ones in under 2 hours, including walking to/from the car.
A entertaining outdoor adventure at Zoo Lights.
Its very spacious and well kept. The light show was very nice
Love this place. Not over packed today. Love the new light features. We have to come back in a few weeks for the event
Great place to take the family. Could easily spend the day here. Giraffe exhibit by appointment and extra fee. No elephants. Animals are well taken care of.
The Boston Light show was awesome. Pls attend if you can social distance was in place and it was great.
Not the worst zoo, but surprisingly crowded, especially during Covid times. Nice that you can get close to the lions, but otherwise pretty standard.
Went to the lantern show at night. Unbelievable! Its sold out now until the end of the show which is November 1st.
Nice friendly park. Nice place to walk or ride your bike beautiful scenery Golf Course
Wonderful zoo, relax and enjoy whole family
I played golf here last week. This is a very nice course in the middle of the city. Unique and very beautiful park to play in, whether you’re golfing, walking, or visiting.
Went for the night light show thing it was amazing had a great time
Wr had the time of our lives, even though we had to social distance. The staff made everything easy and efficient.
The light show was amazing if you get a chance buy youre tickets on line and get youre family out of the house.
You should go see the lantern lights before its all over @National Grid.. beautiful
Great family friendly place for walks, jogs, exercise, watch and/or talk to the golfers. Friendly area
Awesome time and exhibit are fantastic.
Very nice zoo with lots to see and explore. Only minor complaint is that the indications on which way to go (everything is one way due to Covid-19) were super confusing. There are three different kinds of arrows to indicate direction, and they often conflict.
I walked around and took some of the hidden paths I dont jog. It was great for a walk to get away and read with peace and quiet. You can loose yourself or the world for a bit. You can also get a good hill workout in. I was able to see the Frisbee golf course as well.
I am a photographer & love taking pictures of all the animals. The African Tropical Forest is worth visitung.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!! Talked about it for weeks after. Recommended it numerous times! And if you get tickets on line you save a few dollars. Feeding the giraffes might of been one of THE most memorable experiences of my life.
I wish this place had more exhibits. Nothing much to see except for the lion. The kids had fun in the playground which is huge.
Awesome Boston zoo lights spectacular. Worth the ticket... well spaced out in covid times.
It is sad that because of Covid situation, half of the exhibitions are closed. Everything we wanted to see was closed. All the indoor exhibitions were closed. At least we could use the playgrounds.
Some of the main animals will be off exhibit due to cold or else things are good and pretty good care in COVID situation is taken.
Well Im kind of disappointed with this park. It is pretty far from Boston but its really big, so it looked like a good plan for a Sunday. When I first arrived there, there is an area with a lot of trees, some ruins and quiet. But the more I entered the mark the more a enormous golf course was appearing in the horizon.Theres also a hospital just next to the park and a building for homeless people. One of the amazing things is the pond located in the south of the park. There are some geese inside and outside the pond near to the bridge. The remaining part of the park is used by families to have lunch and dinner with their barbecues or just having fun. There are not too many benches or fountains on the park, so you would better take them if you plan to be here.Next to the park there is a Zoo, I didnt entered the Zoo as I dont support them.
If you can get to see the light show well worth it at night
Frankly in my opinion, Franklin Park is a great place to visit with family members. I have learned a lot about the park such as when it was created and built. This place provides you with a peaceful oasis rather than the hustle and bustle of a big city. This is a major asset for Bostonians and visitors.
Seen more animals when I took my kids when they were lil
Great experience, cant wait for it to come back
Stunning and engaging light display bringing us together, in the open air, as a community
The lights were awesome!
Great Zoo. Could use some upgrades.
If you need a place to walk and do some cardio check out Franklin park. Nice paths to take a walk and run.The zoo isn’t bad either.
Awesome zoo recommend it soooooo fun my grandpa thing bronx zoo is better but it is 1000000x better than the bronx zoo
It was bigAnimal are well keptThey had lot of animals
Was so excited to take my grandson, paid 50.00 for 2 and Dont care about the price. I would have too say that at least 10 Exhibits were closed due too renovation. They should tell you this before u buy tickets.
