Definitely one of the coolest venues Ive been to a show at. The acoustics are perfect; I could hear every word and every instrument that was being played. I absolutely love how they havent done any major renovation to the inside. I imagine that how it looks now is how it looked since around the 70s and that is totally a good thing. The art on the ceiling and walls is also very appealing. 100% recommend seeing a show or concert here.
The Orpheum is the grand old dame of Boston theaters, her age shows. Seats are small, little legroom. The staff is wonderful and was accommodating in finding alternate seating, so ask if you are tall.Great sight lines and sound. The concert by Bill Murray was wonderful. Seeing a living icon, simply amazing.
This theater is beautiful, so glad I went. I will say, tall people beware, it was clearly built a long time ago because there is very little leg room but dont let it deter you from checking out a show here!
Great place. Not so much of a secret anymore! If you want to see great acts with an intimate setting, you cant beat this place!! Ive seen Robin Trower numerous times, Warren Haynes (the Last Waltz), Brit Floyd and Ray Davies just to name drop a few.
Great view leaving the theatre. Sound is good. Theatre itself needs work. Old & shabby.
Needs to be updated. Seats are not suitable for anyone taller than 56 and were very soiled. The staff was great at seat locating and were personable. Bathrooms are clean, but not enough for size of facility.
Cool place. Balcony is a little scary, kinda feels like its going to fall. And smelled like piss. But honestly it was the right atmosphere for the show we went to.
The show was great, the venue was lousy. Its in the cut. The venue is in need of a good deep cleaning. Really why it gets a 3 rating is the space. I dont want to be thinking of how Im getting indentations on my legs during a show. It was actually painful. I am only 59 and there were many men taller than I am and I cant imagine how uncomfortable they were.
Beautiful theater! Easily the most friendly staff Ive encountered at a concert, and also the most organized. The location is perfect, as a lot of concert venues in Boston dont have much room outside room for waiting, but this one has plenty since it sits back off from the street quite a bit and is in its own little alcove. Will definitely be back again!
This theater has excellent sound, saw Steely Dan here recently and last night was Styx. Excellent concert, staff was incredible. Only gripe I have sitting in the fifth row was the size of the seats and the legroom. Didnt much matter because were standing up for the whole concert anyways. just be aware if youre a tall guy like me, 6 3, hope that you have somebody small next to you.
Orpheum Theatre has a great ambiance, a great vibe and a great energy. The building almost cultivates an energy in anticipation of performance and it carries through to the final curtain. However the seating is absolutely dreadful. Seats are quite low and not very wide. If youre above average height, your knees will be pressed against the seat in front of you for the duration of the show. At the concert I attended most people got around this by standing up, myself included, which is fine but also not ideal. However, if your favorite band is in town dont skip seeing them! Youll have a great time nonetheless.
Im sure theyre very good to all of their guests but please believe me when I tell you that they give extra love to those of us with disabilities, special needs etc.I was there on the evening of October 29th for a Steely Dan show and I was very well taken care of when I arrived to be seated. They treated me like I was the only one in the place.Big ^ups^ to Celeste for making sure I had a seat that was a great vantage point from which to see what turned out to be a fantastic show.
Not my favorite music venue but not too bad. Its almost always way warmer inside than you would expect so be prepared to sweat no matter what time of year.
Beautiful entertainment place! It looked like an orchestra (Kevin Gates Concert) on 10/22 best music show Ive ever been too!!
Cant bring water in even if it’s closed
Fun concert at The Orpheum Theatre, Boston . Nick Mason .. great theatre
Went to see Camila Cabello, concert was amazing !!! Venue ehhhh its intimate so i guess no matter where you sit as long as you dont have tall people in front of you everywhere you sit is a decent View. The venue is old and obviously not very well maintained. But you are not paying a large amount for tickets to see artist at this location. I would definitely not wear your Sunday Best to come to a concert here wear jeans and closed-toe shoes
Always an amazing experience here. The staff keep things smooth, and the atmosphere is nice.
First time Ive been here, seating was very tight, somewhat uncomfortable. First concert in the venue, not knowing what to expect would have worn more comfy shoes. Patrons in front of me stood for the majority of the time.
Such a beatiful place. I went to see Avril Lavigne and i had an amazing experiencia.
This theater is pretty bad. The seats are very small and cramped, even for a 54 person. Its nearly impossible to find your seat without an usher, so the ushers are constantly running around and pushing through with their flashlights on. There are a lot of different bars in the venue and the sound was good, but I would only come back if it was for a band I really like
Saw a concert here, it was a great concert but the ceiling started to pour water out of a large crack and no one knew what to do.
I came here last night for Dream Theater concert. It is a beautiful place, sounds wasnt bad but neither great. Seats are confortable and good visivibility of the stage even from the balcony area.
Saw a metal show and the lighting was amazing. Sound was a bit overblown at times, and the place gets HOT, but it was a great experience.
I LOVE THE SHOW IN CHRISTMAS BUT I NEED TO BUY BETTER SEATING FOR LONG LEGS!!!
Intimate venue but good LORD! It is so beaten up and run down. Just rotten inside.
Located on an easy to miss side street right off of Tremont St the Orpheum is centrally located to all the main attractions. Shopping, Boston Common, The Freedom Trail and Beacon Hill are all well within comfortable walking distance for anybody. The theatre itself isnt much to talk about. Its a gathering place for concerts and such and thats about it. While ornate, the inside is in great need of an all over polishing. Dont get me wrong, its not dirty its just old and unkempt. A little facelift and this place would be beautiful. The bathrooms ARE clean. The seating is more than cramped. Theres less room than in economy class on the cheapest flight. Youre bound to rub elbows with any and everyone around you and Im 100% sure your @ss will be quite sore if you have to sit for more than 1.5 hours (we had a 3 hour concert...ugh!) So if you are going to see a show bring a cushion. Our concert (Dream Theatre) let out around 10:30-11:00p and the area was well lit and not once did we feel unsafe so thats a plus too.
Great location to see a show. All the seats feel close to the stage. Very friendly staff.
Such a fun venue! Easiest to take the T in if possible.
Was very hot in there- I was a sweaty mess and so were some of the employees. Thats probably why the chairs look faded. Noticed everyone was using their show programs as fans. Balcony seats were very tight- I am 62 and was lucky enough to not having people occupying neighboring seats so I could give myself more room. Also food/beverages were expensive. I noticed $6 for a slice of pizza, and $14 for cans of beer. Will pass on performances held at this place in the future.
The location was easy to find, staff was friendly, seats were small, music was fantastic Be sure to check out Dustin Thomas, what a great artist and of course John Butler always at his best.
Horribly uncomfortable seats. Sound was way too bassy. Otherwise it was fine.
Classic spot. Well stocked concessions with quick lines, and friendly employees throughout. Could use some new seating, however.
Great classic venue. Tough legroom for taller people but worth it
The staff is top notch! The theater is beautiful and a great place to see a show. The only drawback is that the seats are a bit cramped (it is an old theater)
This is a great place for Boston to have shows I have seen a lot of comedians perform here it is a great venue very cool looking it is just hard to get to it is in the heart of the Theater District so parking is a little bit tricky and it is right on Boston Commons a great area in the summer a tricky area in the winter because you have to walk far to find your car but its definitely worth the night out another problem is the rush to the restroom during intermission the line it is unbelievable but I guess its going to be like that anywhere I still really like this place
Beautiful theater, great performance by steely dan. The seats are a bit crowded and the drinks are over priced. But the experience is worth it
Great venue, but heaven help you if youre any kind of tall! You will be sitting with your knees to your chin!
Beautiful and intimate venue, you can even Drink in your seat albeit at expensive theatre prices.
Great theater and part of Bostons history! I was there for the UFC weighing event, and had great time.
First time visiting, great experience. Could use an upgrade, paint alone would help. Staff was a bit bossy.
I went for a James Bay concert and sat in the mezzanine. Great acoustics. Seats were fine for me but I am only 52. It is easily accessible by the park street T stop. All in all, I will be back.
Not a bad seat in the house
Great accustics! Venue is in need of a rehab but still great place to see a show
Charming old theatre with very helpful ushers, good sound and unobstructed views
Beautiful theater. Amazing acoustics. Be prepared to find parking.
Theater is beautiful and kept well enough! Seats numbers were nearly impossible to read, but the ushers were helpful and super nice! Not overly comfortable seats, but spacious enough not to be crumpled in.
Needs paint and a new rug but great performers in a theater setting
Older theater. Seats were crowded but the atmosphere was good for a small venue. This theater is also over a 100 year old.
Went to see one of my favorite groups, Elevation Worship, was disappointed with the venue, seating felt tight, room was humid, and acoustics werent quite where they needed to be. But they put on a decent show though.
Very small so its easier to see the stage si if there is someone your wanting to see perform then u will love this place
Nice place! First time for me. It was packed for the Styx concert!
The Orpheum Theater is a shell of its former glory, as one of the oldest theaters in the US. It is in serious need of some renovation and TLC. My SO and I came here to see Moscow Ballets touring Great Russian Nutcracker performance earlier this month. The location is very convenient just steps away from the Park St. T station and getting inside to pick up tickets from will call was a breeze. The inside was unfortunately extremely underwhelming as the dim lights illuminated some of the food concession. On the plus side they actually had pizza and other food items unlike the Wang Theater that had these pitiful pretzels. (Probably because its connected with the Corner Mall concessions.)Theres 2 levels of seating, we were at the main level and I saw several people were in the balcony. The chairs themselves were very low to the ground and in every aspect show signs that they were from another era. Acoustically the theater was suitable for the ballet, the performance music was pre-recorded so we didnt see a live orchestra. (We sat almost center in the first cluster of seats.) I think it serves its purpose for the current performances here, but its definitely not the dazzling interior youd expect from the Boston Opera house or the Wang Theater. Its a shame that they havent upkeep the theater for all of the rich history that it holds. It has the potential to be a great theater again.
The theater is in a terrible state! Dirty, dilapidated, and cold... Its sad to see a theater in a major American city in this condition.
One of my favorite places to see a show in Boston. They are a bit rough about taking pictures, but otherwise very accommodating. Good beer selection!
Need 6 more inches of legroom somewhere and its an even better venue. Long legged people suffer.Other then that, its a great place to see a concert.
Great venue. Every seat sounds good. They get great acts regularly. Not too big, not too small. I have had a great time at every show Ive ever been to at the orpheum.
I have seen so many amazing bands here
Decent venue, but sucks that theyre in bed with the Ticketmaster Monopoly
Orpheus was fantastic for Mac Demarco
Could use a little renovation...but it has a good vibe and lots of history.
The sound is great but the leg room is non existent in the balcony.
Had a unique experience ! Excellent music! 160 years old theatre. But needs improvement in air conditioning
Needs new seats 6 feet and taller wont be able to sit comfortably.
Great venue. Comfortable seating.
Kevin Gates did his thang. Theater is wonderful no matter where u get tickets
This has to be the worst venue I’ve ever been to. No AC, a lobby area that is an absolute mess to try to get through to your seat, the oldest seats ever. Avoid this place at all costs.
Old classic that needs a lot of attention to be brought to its old glamour.
Very old building, great for an intimate concert, but dress appropriately, it is very hot in there, no AC.
Needs a fresh coat of paint and new chairs cushions are worn. Looks just like when I first went their in 1983.
This place has no ac I wont recommend this place to anyone I couldnt even enjoy the concert. It was just way too chaotic and hot at this venue.
I love this place cuz everytime Im there it provides an opportunity for me to be a provider for my family thank you Orpheum Theater
Fantastic venue for a concert, small and great acoustic.
Great show....teeny, tiny seats.
Gorgeous venue. Our bums fit in the small seats, no problem!
Had a great time at a concert and this is a beautiful theater!
Great venue, good size but still makes for a more intimate experience.
Stuffy smokey desperately needs renovations
Despite tight seats its a lovely old venue, one of the oldest in america now. Built in 1852... Nice clean bathrooms! ️
A great venue place
Great Venue! Warm vibe, and really nice acoustics!!
This place is torture for watching any show. I only go to shows here that are really important to me. And where I dont foresee another opportunity to catch the show else where. There is no air movement, and the temperature is always unbearable. The seats are extremely tiny with no place to put your legs, so you may as well just leave them home. There are weird protrusions under many seats so youre liable to fall awkwardly. The stairs are steep and extremely dangerous to life. The seat numbers are super confusing. You may feel brutalized leaving.
Great venue for any kind of entertainment. Its smaller than many similar venues. So you are close to the stage. Balcony seats are all great. No obstructed views. No parking there so you need to use public parking which within walking distance.
I am 5”9 and I truly had no leg room. It was cramped, hot and over all not a pleasant experience.
Very nice! Many famous celebreraties have visited tbrt. Tbe food is aweome and veribly reasonabaility!
Really cool architecture. Keep in mind its old, like Fenway, so tiny (velvet!) seats. And its a bit stuffy. Staff was great. Would see a show there again.
The Orpheum is incredibly antiquated and in need of renovation. Seats are from 1905 so they are very tiny. Complaints could be heard about the seating from virtually ever patron that came in. Many of the box seats have been replaced by folding chairs. The positives are that the acoustics are decent and it is large but still maintains something of an intimate feel. The staff are also extremely helpful and friendly.I would not attend another concert here.
The theatre is directly across the street from * Park Street Congressional church * down the alley 200 feet which you will see the place.Park Station “ T “ is 300 feet distance from this theatre .
Good venue for concert but limited restrooms. Parking in area within walking distance $12 or less for the evening.
This building is beautiful but I wasnt a fan of the seating. I understand it is an old building but some things need to be updated, like the seating. Or how cold it got inside the theater. We wore our winter jackets almost the entire time because it was so cold and we were squeezed into the tiniest and tightest seats ever! All the staff were great and there were no service issues, just really not pleased with the seating and temperature.
I went to see melonie Martinez. The seats where SUPER cramped. it smelt like fish and armpits. The seats where so squished together I felt sick. I couldnt move, also 7$ for a slice of pizza? Total rip off.
