I just saw Breath and Imagination -- what an amazing show! The actors are marvelously versatile. The music director / accompanist is talented and expressive. The message of the show is communicated clearly. The theater itself is small but welcoming. There are no bad sightlines. The office staff and ushers are nice.Ill definitely be back!
What a fantastic gem of a theatre! Intimate setting - there isnt a bad seat in the house. Most importantly, the shows are consistently impressive: well-cast, expertly directed and engaging. We love attending performances here!
Just saw The Cake. Incredible performance by the cast of a very controversial subject. It was warm, whitty, and honest. You feel for each character, more than once you laughed with them or were brought to tearsA must see!!!!!
The theatre was wonderful the shows are awesome there. My wife and I just saw the little shop of horrors musical. It was very well done go see the show. The food at the flower was awesome as well.Lyric stage not to big not to small. Its just the right size for me. My seats were center front. Great time come one come all
Lyric Stage Company has put on excellent productions for many years. The management always seeks out local talent for actors, musicians and production staff. They excel at musicals and are also great with drama and comedy. The creative way they use the small stage area for all the different types of shows is amazing.
This is an excellent venue to see a play. Small theatre, intimate setting with the audience viewing from 3 possible sides. Terrific set, comfortable seating. Just saw The Little Foxes play (Lillian Hellman) tonight. Great acting! Incredible performances by all!!!
We saw little shop of horrors here. It was amazing, fun and extremely creative. The staff were helpful as well. I would for sure come here again
Saw The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse, which was excellent! I was impressed by the set design as well. Theater itself is in a nice location with great people.
Such a charming little theater, I enjoyed spending my birthday evening among their cast of characters!
Saw Pacific Overtures, a Sondheim musical. Extremely well done. My 1st time at Lyric Stage but hopefully not the last. Small theater and intimate setting.
Cozy little theater. Any seat is a good seat.
I love the Lyric! Its a very intimate, black box style theater, so youre never far from the action. It may not be the best for big musical spectacles but Ive enjoyed all of the productions Ive seen here. Highly recommended!
Intimate theater, bold choices for plays, diversity in casting, excellent performers
Acting was outstanding! Venue wonderful- comfortable! Little Shop of Horrors was wonderful!
Saw the Twelfth Hour and had a great time! Venue was cute and small. Perfect for viewing this kind of play. Would go again if it werent so expensive.
Very nice building, a little difficult to find the theater because it was in the same building as a hotel.Theater was quite small, with ticket prices high.
Fantastic little theater to see a show! Every seat is excellent and prices are reasonable for taking the family out.
Wonderful intimate theatre experience, just large enough to be not uncomfortably close to the actors. And the actors are so amazing! Always work the price of admission.
Lovely, small, intimate space. Great productions. Ive seen some wonderful plays here over the years.I have long legs so some of the seating does not work for me. Sat in seat BB7-left. My knees were killing me when the play was over.
Perfect small theater, acting is wonderful, sets are remarkable.
It was our first time at the Lyric Theater and it was great! There is a garage very close by and plenty of restaurants if you want to eat before or after. We loved the play, The Roommate, and the theater staff were all very pleasant. There is a small concession stand that served snacks and wine. I am not sure if they served other alcohol or not and I dont know how the prices are because I didnt buy anything. Any seat would have been a good seat. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the acoustics. It was hard to hear sometimes. Will definitely go back.
We had a friggin BLAST. The theatre is up on the second floor (handicap accessible) of Hotel 140, and has a very intimate feel. Actors uses the aisles often, which really pulls you deeper into the story without breaking the 4th wall. The facility was clean, and well stocked with booze and snacks, the staff were incredibly friendly and the talent was OUTSTANDING. Cant reccomend enough.
Great space! Loved the theater. We saw twelfth night, and loved every minute of it
Not a bad seat in the house! Great show, great time!
Me and my daughter saw the Roland Hayes play Breath and Imagination. We loved it! The music was beautiful and their voices were extraordinary!! So moving!
Great productions. Every seat is a great seat.
Perfect intimate seating. Wouldnt have it any other way. A+

Great performance of The Little Foxes. Intimate theater, beautiful set, outstanding acting. Ill be back!!!
We attended the performance of the show On the Road, by Stephen Sondheim. Beautiful little show in a very special place. Everything was good, the music, the actors, the costumes. The decors and stage production was great as well, and extremely unique.A very pleasant afternoon.
Historic theater: great performances by great players.
Great venue that presents interesting and challenging works, convenient to parking and restaurants
Small, intimate venue where your mind is put to the test. However, the visual & audio hints lead you EXACTLY where you should go! Awesome experiences abound @ The Lyric!
A nice time to go and enjoy a show.
Fabulous theater up close!
Nice venue. Kiss of the spider woman an interesting show. Well executed.
It was a cute theater to spend a Fun Friday
Latest production, The Wolves, definitely worth seeing. Odd to have a theater in a hotel, but it works!
The Lyric Stage Company is somewhat improbably located on the second floor of the YWCA Building. It is a remarkably fine venue, with intimate seating on three sides of the stage. This theater company is first rate: The production of Company we saw was terrific.
Ive only been once, but it was a great experience. Ticket pricing is very reasonable and pretty much every seat in the house is a good one. The owner comes out before the show to welcome everyone—he seems like a very nice guy who really loves what he does. Im very interested in becoming a season ticket holder at a Boston area theater, and I think the Lyric is very likely where Ill do that. Good pricing, intimate venue, unique shows, convenient location. A+!
Very intimate theater with world class performances. My wife and I prefer this venue to many shows on Broadway. Spiro Veloudos as Artistic Director does an incredible job with Sondheim productions.
Ive been seeing shows here for many years - they are consistently well-produced and managed somehow to stay ahead of the juggernaut represented by the BCA just down the street. Be sure to dress in layers since the compact theater space up on the second floor can sometimes be too warm. Plenty of excellent dining options nearby.
Breath & Imagination....excellent show.....well worth seeing!
This is a small intimate theater in Back Bay Boston that puts on Off Broadway productions, often with music. They are very satisfying but not slick.
Ive been a subscriber for 10+ years at this intimate theater that seats only 200 people. The performances are creative, dynamic, moving and diverse. ENJOY!
Intimate theater, all good seats, great theater company
Very entertaining! I had never seen Camelot and truly enjoyed the intimacy of the theater. Great job everyone!
Wonderful shows and affordable
Best Theatre value in the city of Boston. Nevermind disappoints. Just saw Kiss of the Spiderwoman . Wonderful show.
Quality local theater company always stretching its ability.
They have really nice shows here! Great performers too! Audience is a lil bit on the older side.
Small theatre, great show Little Shop of Horrors
Quality productions in an intimate theater. Willing to go beyond safe bets for some insightful plays.
This quaint little theater givesnew meaning to the word community. The small seats encourage everyoneto meet their neighbors at intermission. There are NO BAD SEATS here either!SECRET: 50% OFF TICKETS are offered at Bostix.
This is one of the best theaters Ive ever been to, and lets just say Im not unexperienced in the world of theater. My family and I have been season pass holders for about 4 years now and never have I left feeling unsatisfied. While there were some shows I preferred over others, I always admire how the Lyric Stage gives it their all everytime. The sets are always incredible. The theater thrives on a solid set. While the stage its self is rather small, the space always so well utilized and absolutely stunning. Most of their musicals feature a live orchestra and a small cast (the largest Ive seen is probably about 9 actors total) and many of the productions feature return cast which makes it intriguing. At the same time, it isnt hard to find new faces. The environment isnt stuffy and is comfortable for anyone who visits whether they frequent theater or not. Its a black tie and fancier setting, however not everyone sticks to it which is perfectly ok. The stage its self is bordered on three sides by numerous rows of seats, the largest being the center side. Id be lying if I said they were particularly comfortable (theyre pretty tight seats that dont leave much room to spread out) but its never taken away from my experience. Restrooms are close by, which is convenient given theres a concessions stand with a myriad of options. There are also more restrooms on the first floor which is great given there can be lines. Tickets can be bought ahead of time on their website or at the box office provided there are seats available (which theyre typically are) and I assure any potential guests that there is no such thing as a bad seat at this theater. At the Lyric Stage, the audience is encouraged to react to everything on stage (and depending on the show, interact) how they please which is enjoyable and makes for a friendly environment. I would definitely recommend checking the Lyric Stage Company of Boston out of you are ever interested in seeing a fantastic show.
Always great
Very nice space not cramped
Small, intimate venue. Great place to see a show as there are no bad seats. Though the seats are a little uncomfortable.
A really nice black-box venue with comfortable seats and great visibility pretty much anywhere in the house. Quality of performances is generally extremely high.
