Nice picnic area. Lots of gnats. Bring bug spray. CVS nearby was helpful
Nice convenient park. Big free parking, security cameras monitored by police, free toilets, 2 good playgrounds for kids of different age w/ soft rubber floor, many places for bbq, long trail for walk/run, lots of trees and shaded places. Great place to spend a day w/ kids/friends/family.
A lovely park in Boca Raton. It has a pavilion with several grill throughout the park and a brand new childrens playground.
Well kept local park with plenty of shade.
Beautiful park for individuals and families. Pavilions for parties. Playgrounds, jogging paths all set in a lush green atmosphere. Well kept and so clean. A great place to go and relax and let your mind take a vacation from city life. Its a whole other world. Will definitely recommend this park for everyone.
Great Park for Adults & Children, a lot of picnic areas. The only problem is that there is no electrical power at the outlets. We need outlets for music, cellphone charging, coffee making etc... Please help fix this for the communities that enjoy this Park.
Positive: nice location, new playground equipment and a close walk to Lake Wyman ParkNegative: i used to love this park, but I decided to take my son for a walk there the other day And there was many homeless people, and people obviously drinking and doing drugs. I actually felt unsafe and had to leave. The kayaks and Boardwalk that used to be there are now closed.Overall, this park is not something I would go to unless it was cleaned up. I think a lot of the five star reviews are mistaking James T Rutherford for Lake Wyman which is a beautiful park that is connected to James Rutherford
Nice little park, fix the boardwalk though
Looked like a lovely park as I was driving in. There was ample parking, but I couldnt stay. They do not allow dogs or pets on the trail and I was hoping to take my girls on a peaceful, easy morning walk. I am putting this in my review so other people dont waste their time like I did. Also, bikes are not allowed on the path.
Lovely uncrowded park. Great for the kids. Lots of parking. Clean rest room.
Has 3 poke gyms, and has a nice nature walk.
James A Rutherford Park is a lovely little recreational area less than a football field away from one of the busiest intersections in Boca Raton. It features a childrens playground, trails and lakeside benches. It also boasts a covered Pavilion capable of handling a good-sized party. There is ample free parking but latecomers might have to walk a bit on the paved road adjacent to the parking area to reach the main recreational area.,
Outstanding park, great kids area and nice fields. Good for a walk or to take your young kid.
The boardwalk is not open.
Great family park! Lots of shade, greenery, and room for kids to play.
The boardwalks along the water have been closed ever since I found this quite little park. Theres plenty of parking and shade and its well groomed.
Very nice park. Lots of tree shade. Dont know when or why there is no more canoeing there. YEARS ago there was. Still well worth the visit.
They need to fix the boardwalk they dont have much else
Great park and exhibits. Needs some maintenance and upkeep.
Beautifully landscaped, large, covered pavilion, restrooms, and two sets of play equipment, and large grassy areas with lots of room to run. The pavilion can be reserved for the day.
Boardwalk close for now
Shady park with nice playground for the kids.
The park is currently under construction and the mangroves give it quite the smell sometimes, but overall a great place to workout, hang out at the swings, and play pokemon GO. it has always provided me with a safe place to be and it also is wheelchair friendly and has bathrooms and water fountains
Cut though the back streets of boca long skinnypark that opens up to a huge ball field party on
Nice park for exercises or bring the kids.
Very nice park. This park has boardwalk trails that lead to the traditional lakefront areas and a hidden boardwalk that has fallen apart and is now a very interesting and raw obstacle course.
Clean. 2 Bathroom kids park
James A. Rutherford Park is 45 acres in size and it is located on the east side of the Intacoastal waterway. As you come in the north end of the park there used to be boardwalks that went from the park through the mangroves and out to the intracoastal for what I assume is a spectacular view. Unfortunately all three boardwalks have been closed and there is no longer a viable path to the intracoastal which is such a shame. The rest of the park is meticulously kept so I dont understand why Boca hasnt fixed the boardwalks. On the day I visited a group of teenage boys were wading through the mangroves back to the park. It didnt look all that safe. The south end of the park contains a bathroom with water fountain, picnic pavilion, upgraded playground equipment, more picnic tables and grills. This area was lovely and really contrasts with the decrepit former boardwalks. At the very back of the park is a rubber track with exercise stations along it. The track connects to the nearby Lake Wyman Park which has sport fields. This park could be really great if it wasnt for the blight of the boardwalks. I hope that Boca decides to fix this problem soon.PS I have since found a website detailing the work that is going to be done to fix this park and the connecting Lake Wyman Park.
This is a good place to go for peace and quiet!
Hidden gem with nice play area for kids and pavilion. Attached to a bigger park.
Great park in a quiet location. Brand new play ground, rest rooms and picnic areas with grills. Parking is free.
Very soothing calm park, close to Fau
Cool local place that never knew existed. Quiet, random, go here
I am actually conflicted writing this review. This park has the potential to be awesome, its sad to see it in its present condition. However, the city has let the waterfront and boardwalk section decline to the point it looks like something out of a horror movie. Sections are completely closed off do to unsafe conditions and missing sections of railings. The kayak launch is no-longer open either. The part that is open is sketchy at best. I have no idea what these other reviewers are talking about, perhaps they are confusing it with the other park lake wyman that rutherford butts up too or have alternative motives for posting 5 star review but there is no way that this park is a 5 star park at the current time. The city really needs to step up to the plate and get the ball rolling to improve this park. Perhaps the city should stop concentrating on building highrise hotels and condos for a minute and focus on the things that made Boca such a great place to live in the first place. Or at least use some of that newfound tax revenue from these hotels/apts. they are allowing to be slapped up on any available piece of land in the city.City council should be ashamed of letting such a great place decline to this point. Its time to fix this little hidden gem of Boca.
Great place for picking, barbecue and playing with your kids.
Great place to enjoy the outdoors and long walks
Nice place for the kids to burn off some energy
Clean, big, very enjoyable to get away from the hassle.
Nice and peacefully place
Nice quiet park
There is a boardwalk loop which takes you to view the Intracoastal Waterway. There is a special place in my heart for this park because the times I spent there with my dog, Cuca.
