Good park with soft grass and plenty of space. Could go there to munch on your McDonalds order a dozen feet away from anyone, as a completely random hypothetical.
Its convenient place for homeless people to assemble at for meals, showers, even get referrals for shelters & much more!...
Well, I have lived in Berkeley for almost twenty years and I figured that I knew just about every one there. If I didnt then I got to know them and them me. I feel much safer especially across the street from the police station.
Orphan Andys is the best place for hotcakes
Good place.. quite
Great park with lovely old oak trees my cat is so proud she can climb and not too many unleashed dogs to chase her either! The regular homeless folks there have been very kind and helpful as well. Well, of those that arent wholesale cray cray.
Dump but I call it home
Very pretty, place is generally well kept, feels unsafe though. I got attacked here a bit ago but gladly the police got there fast! Ive always had weird vibes here but other then that I have no issues with the place!
Great Saturday Farmers Market. Good selection of meats, vegetables and fruits, local honey and even jars of bone broth to cure any ailment. Lots of parking in the neighborhood. Enjoy every Saturday
Lots of room to run around. Great place for a picnic lunch on a blanket. Wonderful all organic farmers market on Saturdays until 3pm; concerts, festivals, Arts and crafts stalls and political events
Enjoyed the concert. Park near downtown Berkeley, California. Old school music with excellent food booths.
A lot of my folks here, in the b-townshipcall the civic center city hall area here Provo Park. They think, thats thinking at san diego Mormons. The atmosphere (!?) Its a Bea-UT_-i- ful thing. Location cant be beat for a beautiful day, everytime. :-)
Berkeley is the best City in the Bay for the support of its no less burgeoning homeless population (as compared to neighboring burgs). The park is nice, too. (Lol.)
For some reason it seems to be cleaner than before.
COMMUNITY IS VERY PEACEFUL AND IS GETTING CLEANED UP I LOVE COMING OUT AND SEEING THE VIEW IN THE COMMUNITY WITH EACH AND EVERYONE GETTING ALONE AND HAVING RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER BUT WHAT IS BOTHERING ME AND OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITY IS THE GAY PRIDE FLAG UP TEACHING OUR YOUNGER GENERATION THAT ITS OK TO BE BISEXUAL THEY EVEN TEACHING IT IN SCHOOLS NOW THAT ITS OK TO BE GAY MARCHING PRESCHOOL STUDENTS WITH THE GAY PRIDE FLAG POSTING IT UP IN SCHOOL HOUSE WINDOWS WHEN IT DOESNT REPRESENT A COUNTRY OR A STATE WHICH I BELIEVE IS TOTALLY WRONG TO TEACH IN ANYWHERE CAUSE GOD DIDNT ALLOW MEN TO HAVE SEX WITH OTHER MEN AND HE DIDNT ALLOW WOMEN TO HAVE SEX WITH OTHER WOMEN, I THINK THAT, THAT SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT GAY PRIDE PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP BEHIND CLOSE DOORS IF THAT WHAT THEY WANT TO BE BUT NOT TEACH IN THE COMMUNITY OF OUR CHILDREN AND I FEEL BY THE LAW S OF WHICH GOD USES US TO ESTABLISH THAT WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO BRING AND BRAKE THEM COMMANDMENTS THAT GOD HAS MADE AMEN! FOLLOW ME THOMAS JR
To many unhoused people living in tents.
Soul and Seafood Fest was a nice event with good music but there could have been a few more seafood vendors since one ran out of lobster for their poboys 2 hours before the event was over
Good place to go on farmers market day and special events scheduled
It is a great spot to chill around, safe, clean area to relax and on.
Generally a nice park in the middle of the city. On Saturdays, it turns into the location of the Downtown Berkeley Farmers Market, where you can buy fresh fruits and veg, ready-made food, clothes, artisanal craft, etc. worth a visit if you’re in town during!
Nice spacious green space at the very heart of Berkeley. Its a nice place to stroll through or stop in. While there are a few homeless people here, theyre usually not bothering anyone and easy to avoid. Its also the epicenter for a lot of the political activism that happens here (I have seen antifa and far-right protestors clash here before), but this isnt a daily occurrence and its easy enough to avoid.
To many youths around find parking is crazy no safe to park on the street
Annual book festival is full of readable fun. There are many stages with readings, interviews, panels, and lectures. Every kind of author, publisher, bookstore, and literary advocate is represented. Many events all weekend long.
Its decent park but lota people camping smokin and drinking
Nice green rectangle in the middle of the Civic center part of town. Lots of mini festivals there some selling stuff, some musical, some political, some theatrical. Nice little kid section with stuff for them to climb on. Nice little farmers market there on Saturdays
MLK park is the heart of Berkeley. Festivals, music, poetry, protests, art, the farmers market, they all happen here. So many great events!Theres a small play area for children, the city is usually good about porta potties for events, and the park is across the street from the police station, so not much goes down here outside of protests. Its also in the heart of downtown, so lots of cafes, stores and restaurants within walking distance. Parking can be scarce.
Over run with homeless
Its a nice park ... but its pretty much owned by the homeless and drugs. Sad, but true.Otherwise, as I said, its a nice park.
Great DJ ( magic Mike )Great salsa bandSuper partyAwesome
Spacious park, with free drinkable water and banks newrby, close to police station, super safe spot
The Farmers Market on Saturday goes until 3 p.m., but the ever-present and pervasive homeless druggie elements in the park make the experience unpleasant. Mental illness and latent drug use right across the street from the police station I kind of ironic. There is a public Porta-Potty here, just maintain situational awareness for your safe.
There is a nice kids playground, but not a very kid-friendly vibe.
Good place and park but bad restroom facilities for kids on-site.
Its my favorite park. The people make me feel at home.
Lovely peaceful place to walk around stop and have lunch or just relax and read a or just sit and injoy the sun and admire the area
I used to chill out here when I studied for bachelors degree in UC Berkeley. Love this small park.
The farmers market was so fun, great people and goods!!
Grew up in Berkeley favorite place to go in high school
A nice park indeed. However, didnt really feel safe there after Dark. Im not from this town, so please take this with a grain of salt.Im a ham radio operator and was attempting to operate portable. This requires an open space which this park definitely offers. I set up and it was fine, but was approached by a group of young men and had a lot of questions about how much my equipment was worth... Needless to say I got the hell out of there. one of my telescoping Mast was mistaken for a katana sword haha. Thats was what saved my but I think
The place deserves a visit whenever you are in Berkeley. The place becomes a farmers market on Sunday’s and you are in for a fresh veggie, fruits, etc treat.
Nice. I must ask, and not just about King, but why does anyone deserve to be remembered forever?
I found the place to have many interesting people and exhibits. The days event was a book festival. The authors of the area had many reports of first hand experience that I found fascinating.
Cool place...nice people.
The park seems unattended and sad mostly all the time.
Good food timely service
Peace is the ameizing art - very uniqe project. Beautifulll
Love it but can be dangerous at night
A green, pretty, open expanse couched between beautiful buildings, with a little bit of shade. Nice for picnics. Lots of homeless people nap here.
Beautiful place, must see.
Pleasant park, mixed crowd from locals yo students to tourists. Nice farmers market on Saturdays
Its a great place to relax for the day.
Nice
Great farmers market on Saturdays, otherwise, mostly unremarkable.
Very nice place.
Berkeley is really an interesting place full of fantastic atmosphere of culture and romantic sprite
Nice place to take a break in your day
Nice place...but also looses value due to homeless community.
Great place to lay in the sun and meet people. Had a couple drunk people come by, other than that its a sweet place.
This was people park back in the day.
Reminds me of Peoples Park Its quickly becoming a political activist playground
Trees
Gucci
Nice park I guess
Cool area
NIce place to host rallies, no swingsets though
Nice views
Best park in town.
Nice place to sit and think.
Small, pleasant park area in front of the civic center building
Not much left of what once was a nice park
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon next to a vibrant farmers market in the downtown of one of the coolest college towns in the country, this place was dead, with some tents, homeless, random yelling, and some citizens of the year smoking in the underwhelming playground area.
Not much to do here, and some of the people hanging around are very sketchy. The person that I was with was very uncomfortable hanging out here even with me there as well.
Awesome!
Nice place to chill and people watch.
Its trashy
Nice
Classic.
Its clean.
Charming Berkeley civic center park.
Sketchy after dark. Fountain not functional.
Cool place but to many homeless.
Its McDonalds
Plenty of homeless to help
Berkeley History

Great renovation of the park!
