This a great place to take the kids! Definitely a east bay gem. The merry go round is $3.50 per ride. Its a little pricey but being that it location is exclusive makes it well worth it. The cafe is a must. All food is cooked to order. The prices are fair. Its a must for a family fun day.

Its getting old but still a nice place to take young kids. Lots of trails to walk around the park. Went on the steam train as well. Been on it many times. My favorite part of tilden.

Gorgeous beautifully restored old Merry Go Round. The beautiful details of the parts and creatures are far superior to the modern ones. I dropped one star because the park guide (at the Tilden Farm) states that it is free, and it is not only not free but also a bit pricey, 7 dollars for a small child and a parent per ride.

It was so much fun. Our 9 month old loved it. Such an inexpensive why to spend family time. The park is so beautiful.

We came with our 1.5 year old; she had so much fun and didnt want to leave!! Short line to get on the merry-go-round but it goes fast, we did 3 rounds back-to-back and the wait was fine. Nice area around it, next time well probably stay and picnic. The kitchen was closed when we were there (they had a little accident in the kitchen and had to close it for an hour or so), but I heard good things about the food.

One of my family traditions to go every year and get an ornament for Christmas. They decorate the big tree and santa is there on some days for pictures and it has always been one of my favorite places to go since I was a little girl. My kids have grown up with the tradition and this year I watched my daughter introduce the merry go round to my grand daughter. Its been an awesome place for my family to make memories. Love it!!!

This is a very cute merry-go-round tho its a little far from everything else. They have great decorations during Christmas time. Speaking of Christmas, while you are here, you should check out the steam train too.

Took me back in time! Loved watching my Granddaughter on her first ride. Good selection of snack food: hot dogs, fries and ice cream.

The horses here often tell me to release them. I know they belong in the wild but the ride is just so fun

We went during christmas time and it was beautifully decorated. Kids enjoyed the merry go round, so did the adults. There is a food outlet as well where you can get freshly prepared food. We just got the fries.

This is simply magical! The operator knows so much history about the carousel and clearly loves it. Right now, its decorated for Christmas and it felt so nostalgic!

You are never too old to ride a Merry-G-Round. It is tucked away, but worth the drive. It is in really good condition. I so enjoyed riding it with my granddaughter.

Had my daughters birthday party here and everyone loved it! Spacious and peaceful setting. Shaded area, beautiful for a childrens party.

We went during the Christmas light and character shows. Santa was there. Lots of decorations, fun rides on the Merry-Go-Round, good food, lots of parking as people kept coming and going. Bathrooms available that were clean. The wait in line line to see Santa & ride the Merry-Go-Round were reasonable. Not a short ride with Carousel music. A great place to visit year round. The price for the ride is $2 and if your child is small you can ride free. For sure bring your children here!

A sweet merry go round next to a hill thats great for picnicking. The concession stand sells everything from icecream to nachos (the ice cream is from a local creamery and quite yummy). The whole family had a lot of fun here

3 tickets will set you back $10, but the picturesque antique marry go round will sure be in the kids memories forever. Food is decent and staff is young and mostly friendly

This place is awesome for all ages. They even have Easter Egg hunts. Went to a birthday party here and the staff was great. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. Bathroom is away from the Carousel and little cafeteria. Its located across the street towards the parking lot. The food in the tiny cafeteria is limited, expensive but tastes yummy. They also have different flavors of ice cream. Definitely recommend checking this place out. You wont be disappointed!

Charming, old time-y fun. Its quite an uphill drive to get to Tilden Park--and then to get to the M-G-R.. Be ready for that! Otherwise a quiet and clean escape from the urban jungle...

Lovely old carousel. A bit pricey, but grandson loved it. Adult needs to ride with small child, and needs own ticket. Tickets are 7 for $20. Should be an even number. Cant divide 7 by anything but 1.

Its a great old fashioned merry-go-round. My kids love it. The always have a huge number of of inflatable Christmas decorations there too. Its a fun thing to go to after going to the tilden little farm. Its where we eat our lunch before heading home.

Super cute place. Ive always liked everyone thats worked here. My toddler has lots of fun and enjoys their popcorn and pretzels. We booked a couple parties here. Everything for our party was on point.

Small, old, hidden and charming. It was definitely worth finding. We went here for my sons birthday. We visited the little farm first. The kids had a great time. We went right at closing so we only rode it twice which was sufficient. It was cute. The staff was friendly and it was clean.

A well-maintained merry go round in the Tilden park. Its pretty fast compared with other ones weve tried like the one in Oakland Zoo. Kids shorter than 42 inch cant ride alone, but are allowed with an adult company. $3 per ride or $15 for 7 rides which are reasonable. The snack bar doesnt provide many options and people usually bring their own foods and drinks.

One of our favorite spots at beautiful Tilden Park! Weve also been here a couple times for birthday parties which include tickets to the carrousel, exclusive use of the picnic tables behind the merrry go round, as well as ice cream!

Merry-go-rounds are hard to find in this day and age. This one is in beautiful Tilden Park with steam trains, hiking, the little farm and nature center nearby.The merry-go-round seats probably 30 kids and has a small food stall adjacent. They throw events during Easter and Halloween and Christmas, etc. Your little ones will love this place.

From out of town and visiting family from Walnut Creek. Had a picnic by the Merry Go Round and took a walk to the lake. Beautiful. Such a great time and so close by. Highly recommend.

Lots of fun! They recently raised their ticket prices. 3.50 per ride or 7 for 20 bucks. Decent snacks to eat and during the xmas season they have santa on the weekends. Great for families.

My kids love this place. Its kinda hard to find so you have to follow the signs on the way in. He likes going around taking pictures. The tickets are cheap too only $3 per person. Get the tickets ahead of time either at the stand by the entrance or the concession stand. One adult can hold the little one if necessary.

Great merry go round. Very romantic---not just for children. One of the few merry go rounds in Northern California. Low price. Ive come here all my life. Located near the entrance to Lake Anza. On the other side of the parking lot there are wind caves in a sandstone cliff.

The merry go round itself is a bit old, but it is still rather nice. There is a nice field with picknic benches where the children can run around after. Also, it is a great place to have birthday parties for young children. There are nice hiking areas around the park, but watch out for poison oak!

Children love the place. Adults will feel like children again when they take a ride on the beautiful 100 year old hand crafted merry go round.

Its exactly what youd want and expect. Small shop sells tickets and snacks. Theres a nice lawn where kids can run. Actual bathrooms across the parking lot.

Great place to have fun for adults and kids alike. Definitely one of those places you go to once and say you have been there.

My niece had her first birthday here. She loved the merry go round! Theres a parking lot. Plenty of park benches for everyone. Its a bit hard to find at first.

Not a reason itself to go to Tilden Park, but adds some value. Rides are like $3 per person, and they DONT last long! We were there last Sunday, and there was hardly anyone riding. Maybe 6-8 people. It seemed like the ride barely lasted one minute! Other than that, you can get snacks nextdoor like grilled cheese, fries, chips, sandwich, hot dog, ice cream, popcorn, etc. I got a grilled cheese with curly fries, and it was a complete waste of $10, $5 for sandwich and $5 for fries! The sandwich was so tiny and only had option for wheat bread. Taste was bland. I did like the curly fries, but for $5 I could buy a bag from Safeway bc it tasted like Ore-Ida honestly. The carousel is a short walk to Lake Anza, so that was nice. If you have small kids, go for the train rides first!

Great little place to take kids that enjoy the merry go round. Price is cheap, and there a little one that spins in circles as it’s moving around to make it even more fun for older kids. Lots of picnic tables but not so much shade. Food is lacking, the polish dog is not very good, and they put tomatoes on it which makes no sense because then the bread gets really soggy. The kids hotdog was not worth the price, but the grilled cheese was good.

Whats a merry go round doing in a wilderness park? Keeping the little ones happy for sure but it does seem to be at odds with the rest of the place with its dozens of kilometres of hiking trails, lakes and botantical gardens. On the other hand there is also a golf course.

The best hike is one you take a break and get on a 100 year old merry-go-round

I have been taking our 4 year old daughter since she was born and wanted to take our 1 yr also so he could enjoy the merry go round to only find out under new ownership the parent cant ride with the child anymore, considering the belt is to big to buckle around small children common sense tells me that the safest place would be between a parents arms. When I complained to the worker behind the counter she gave me attitude and after asking for the owners number I was given a number minus the area code and more lip. We wont be going back.

This is so much magic for my littlest grandbabies. Merry go round is super old and beautiful with a cute candy store attached.

The Merry-go-round and surrounding area were all decked out for Christmas and Santa was there too!

Ive been riding this thing practically since the day I was born. Its a marvelous piece of machinery down to every detail.The new operator embodies a refreshing change of pace and really cares about the carousel. I talked to him about possible restoration plans for the old original organs and he said its a matter of money. Maybe its time for a Kickstarter.

Its a basic merry-go-round. Theres seriously no reason to make the drive or pay the price to ride this merry-go-round. Its as basic as gets.

This is an economical and fun place to go. Great for many ages. And when youre done you can enjoy the rest of the Tilden area.

This is a magical place we visit every Christmas for the last decade, maybe longer. unfortunately the new owners have taken some of the magic away, no more toy train, the amazing themed Christmas trees are now squeezed into a little corner and not nearly as imaginative, and the Santa Claus meetup is mall like now (he used to be in an awesome little shed, now hes roped off next to the carousel)the carousel itself is still amazing and nostalgic.
