Today was our first trip here and we loved it! The grounds looked very well maintained (no honeysuckle and 1 small wood bridge that was in working condition!). There is very limited parking and expect to park on the road shoulder. We will be back again!

This is a peaceful hike that did help us work up a little sweat! Its a good path for kids, whether walking or carried. Parking is not obvious; there is simply a rocky spot off the side of the road just before the trailhead. A neat little local preserve! The deer were abundant on this particular summer morning!

Very nice, easy to follow trail, but lots of hills. Only parking for two cars. We drove by entrance, twice. (Picture included, click on it for full image)Nice, quiet, and peaceful walk...even with all 4 of my kids :) We saw many animal footprints, including: raccoon, deer, and possibly bobcat. Plenty of pretty native wildflowers and shade. We will be going back without toddlers next time :)

This was a nice place to walk. There is one fork in the road with both ways returning you to the same spot. The right direction is more leisurely initially. The left path had more incline with log stairs and some small water paths to step over. If it has rained recently then the left path will have some mud spots and water to step over. Turn right if you want an easy start with some uphill walking at the end. Turn left if you want go down the more challenging part with only a short up hill walk on the right side. The whole loop is not that long and overall not a challenging walk. There is a small water path at the lowest part of the loop that had some flat logs in a stepping stone configuration. You can walk around these but it was muddy when we went.

A great walk with kids. To and from the car is .75 miles per the Map My Run app. The kids enjoyed it. There is a bit of a decline and incline but the kids did well with it.

This was a good trail. Not too challenging. Enough of an incline to make the infrequent hiker a bit winded. It is a loop and it is not long. If my fitness app is correct it is .79 miles. Went in late August, so it was pretty humid and buggy. It just didnt make sense to me that there is this great trail, well maintained... but no place to park. The entrance is surrounded by homes and private driveways. We almost left but decided to park on the road right in front of the entrance to the trail. I dont even think one other car could have fit behind us without being in the road. Whike there we saw a lizard, a toad and three young deer that did not run away when they spotted us looking at them. They were just a few feet off trail.

Parking is limited to 2 spots off the side of the road. We accidentally past it first and had to turn around. However once we started walking it was a beautiful trail full of wild life.

Quaint little trail. Nice and shaded, and good for the dogs.

This is a really nice .7 mile hike in the woods. There are plenty of markers to show you the way and is nestled right on the edge of belleville. Perfect for a short hike with the kids.

Great one mile trail hike we did with Scouts. Lots of tracks from wildlife, mushrooms, fallen trees and trail markers.

I think that nature preserve is the denotation used by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to describe a park without parking. You have to keep a sharp eye out for the entrance, which is nothing more than a bare trailhead with a sign at a nondescript place on the road. The trail is a loop, slightly less than a mile long and suitable for any level of skill or endurance. Overall though, we didnt see anything to particularly recommend it; unless youre just looking for a quick, easy walk through the woods and youre already in the area, I think you can probably find a more interesting place to visit.

The trail is fairly short but the scenery is pretty. I wouldve it 5 stars but the parking is limited to 1 or 2 cars max.
