We just came into Beaufort without any research or planning. We just happened on this tour and after carriage tour we couldnt have been any happier with our choice!!!! Anastasia was our guide....she was outstanding!!!! She was loud enough to hear...probably even without our audio. She was funny and very knowledgeable! I highly recommend this tour and especially Anastasia! P.S. during this time of covid they were very safe including dividers between each row of seats
Great tour. A fun and interesting ride if you just have a short time to spend in Beaufort. The houses are beautiful.
Anastasia was a very good tour guide. It was just our husband and I on the carriage. So she personalized it to our interests. She had interesting stories and gave us a nice history. Also, the horses are very well taken care of through this tour company. Blaze was our Clydesdale and he seemed very happy.
Really wonderful tour! Tyler did a great job. She knows her Beaufort history and has a wonderful sense of humor. Definitely take this tour to get an over view of the history and locations you might want to search out to visit more closely. Beaufort is just a beautiful town showing all the history and charm of the South. Will definitely visit here again.
I went down to visit my parents the other day and I took a tour with Charlotte and Max. Charlotte seems to really know an impressive amount of History around the Lowcountry and was very pleasant for the tour. Max was one of the biggest and sweetest horses Ive seen in a while. She handled him masterfully and they made a truly good team. It was obvious by the way those two interacted that Max trusts her just as much as she trusts him. I highly suggest going to see or any of the team from Southern Rose, you will not regret it!
We had Ana as our guide and she was excellent. Learned so much Town history and saw beautiful homes. I would definitely recommend!
We had family in from NY over the holidays and took the historic tour with Philippe our horse and Charlotte (I think) our guide. We had the best time. The historic stories were fascinating and our guide was a wealth of information, both historic and storied. Our family agreed it was the highlight of their vacation. Highly recommend.
Our hosts Anastasia and Charlotte were amazing !! So friendly and enthusiastic. They added humour to their great historical knowledge making our tour immensely entertaining. Their pride in their beautiful city was evident. We were also impressed by their loving treatment of Captain the magnificent horse who pulled the carriage. This tour was the highlight of our trip from Canada. Many thanks
Awesome Tour! The carriage holds up to 8 comfortably. The tour is about an hour and covers all of the historic portions of Beaufort. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and covered a lot of great facts, stories, and some fun items about the area. Much of the information would take you quite a while to research yourself. This is a MUCH better way to see the downtown historic area, than trying to drive on the very narrow streets.
Went on a tour with Anastasia with a group of tour directors training for tours in the area.We are usually a tough crowd because we have been around a lot of tour guides Anastasia was phenomenal! She kept us entertained laughing and then switching to heartfelt stories it was one of the best tours I have ever experienced and I would highly recommend it and I hope the tour companies I work for will use this tour company in the future.
The tour was very short. The tour guide was a little rude. I was expecting it to be great but I guess I should have rode the other carriage company.
The most enjoyable tour —what a treat. Was it Philippe, our powerful and intelligent horse? Or, Deborah, our animated docent, flowing over with great information in a lively and entertaining format? Or, is it just the charm of Beaufort? Whatever, it was the BEST hour spent touring this absolutely amazing town. Thank you, Deborah, Phillips, and Beaufort ️
We took a wonderful tour of beautiful historic Beaufort with Anastasia and her sturdy well-loved young horse Blaze. Stories of movies filmed in town, local celebrities, Revolutionary and Civil War happenings and much more abounded as Blaze led us around the Point along quiet live oak lined streets. Anastasia is a gem of a guide!! Dont miss this tour.
With the knowledge of our tour guide Anastasia and the cuteness overload of Mr. Blaze, our experience was wonderful! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who has never been to Beaufort or even a local who would like a history lesson on their town! And they let my 19 month old son sit on the front row!
Perfect way to maximize the few hours we spent in Beaufort. Thoroughly enjoyed our guide Anastasia and horse Philippe. She is very good at her job and full of knowledge and sweet as well. Very pretty town.
Loved the stories, the fun, the guide, Anastasia...the whole thing was awesome.
Outstanding way to spend a sunny January afternoon. Excellent tour guide who knows the rich history of this area. Very senic, with lots of very good places to eat within a short walking distance. Dont worry if its a little brisk, they hand out blankets! Excellent value, and they take reservations.
This tour led by Blaze was beautiful and informative. Blaze is an incredible horse and so sweet. Thank you for starting our vacation on the right hoof.
We came to visit from New Hampshire, and this turned out to be the most wonderful adventure. Our guide was so knowledgeable, professional, and good to the horse, Phillipe. We learned so much about the history of Beaufort. We were pleased with the kindness and care the horses received. We’ll be back !!
We had the pleasure of touring with Anastasia and Jake. We learned so much in a short period. The stories were great and seeing Beaufort and learning all about its history was great. Time well spent. Both Anastasia and Jake are adorable. Thank you for the wonderful ride
We had an amazing carriage ride today. Our guide was full of knowledge and so gentle and kind with our horse Maximus. He and our guide did a fantastic job of showing us Beaufort today. Thanks a ton!
Ann, Cam & Philippe were fantastic. Super fun, knowledgeable & professional. Thank you for caring about your history and your horses.
Bill and Jake are a great team. I am a horse lover so I have to rave about Jake first!! He is the sweetest, most well trained horse I have ever had the pleasure to spend an hour with. Bill says he is the slowest, but that’s OK! He just wants to provide the best tour possible! This horse doesn’t even acknowledge activity around him; he just goes about doing his job! Awesome, amazing, well cared for horse with intuition and beyond amazing training! Hugs dear Jake!Bill obviously knows so much about Beaufort’s rich history and presents it very well including some great “tongue-in-cheek” humor! It was an hour very well spent! This was our second tour and we plan to do it again!
Great afternoon learning some history about Beaufort and some of the magnificent homes that have stood the test of time. Our guide was funny and enjoyable.
Kate was a great tour guide, and Angus was a marvelous horse!
Excellent. Very polite and friendly. Knows how to maintain horses. And i appreciate the effort and time they put in the carriage tours.
It was to hot they had to close. Very nice people
Great experience and interesting info about Beaufort. The only downside was the weather but we got blankets and still enjoyed the ride!
Excellent tour guide. Made history come alive with easy comversational delivery. Loved it. Our guide was a former history teacher and i bet she was one zinger of a teacher.
Max was adorable! (Our guide was good too!) You can really tell that they love their horses here.
We loved how the history of the town was delivered to us. The horses are very well taken care of. Our guide was Bill and our horse was Rocky. He said Rocky was the slowest horse jokingly of course but we didnt mind. Could have spent a few more hours on the tour with no complaints.
Our guide had only good things to say about actors (including Nick Nolte) and only derisive things to say about actresses. When I asked him to consider sharing a positive anecdote about any actress, he started every sentence with an insincere I hope this doesnt offend you. Another women on the tour thanked me as we disembarked and two men told me it bothered them, too. In-your-face sexism is not what Im paying for.
Beautiful. Very friendly staff. The history lessons were amazing.
Awesome experience with Anna and Jake. Anna was very knowledgeable and what a great personality. Learned more on that tour than I would have imagined. If you want to learn about Beaufort this tour is a must.
Excellent guide with a delightful horse. The best way to experience the historic old town Beaufort.
Great way to see the town. Everyone from the ticket agents to the drivers were so nice and friendly.
Had a wonderful time with Charlotte and Max. She was very knowledgeable and got along well with her horse.
I loved this much. Lots of history. I wouldnt recommend small children because its a lengthy tour and they wouldnt understand much of the facts and historical homes. Our guide was very good speaker and we had fun!
A cool little tour. Youll learn a lot about the area and why some of the buildings are painted in specific colors. Sadly our guide seemed to be stuck on the Hollywood side of the area and the whos who that stayed in town.
So fun to see the 1717 house and many others around that era. It was great to learn some Civil War history as well.
Deb and Buck made our tour great, her love for history and Beaufort was evident thank you.
Great tour.
We love taking this tour of Beaufort
Must do if you new to Beaufort.
Great Beaufort experience!
Great tour guide
