The John Mark Verdier House on Bay Street in Beaufort is a beautiful and historic house and cool museum. I like all the history and educational displays in the house. I was able to learn a lot about the history of Beaufort and the Lowcountry through all of the extensive information that was available. You can feel a lot of the history throughout the house and it is overwhelming at times. The house is very well maintained and is beautiful on the inside and is very big and grand. The staff here is very knowledgeable and really knows their history and is able to answer just about any question you may have on the house and Beaufort. This was a great place to visit and I am glad that it exists for all to enjoy.
I had a personal tour, only one at the 4:30 tour! The guide was so engaging and clearly had a love for period homes. Learned a bit of history, of what life was like back then, including a tidbit on why beds were so high off the ground in those days.
A very nice place to visit. Very detailed presentation and it is air conditioned so it could be a good midday break in a hot summer day
My friend and I did the tour on a whim. It was wonderful and we learned a lot. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable!
Interesting history on the only historical house in Beaufort that is open to the public.
This historically restored residence serves as a window back in time to the often misrepresented era of the antebellum South. Our tour guide shared fascinating tidbits about Beauforts history and the impacts of the Civil War. The architecture and layout of the house itself were also intriguing. Ten dollars for about thirty minutes in this beautiful landmark seems like a good value.
The tour is nice and tells some of the history of Beaufort. The architecture is very nice and worth the $10 tour fee. The house has been spectacularly preserved.
Wonderful house tour by Diane, great details of Beaufort town & civil war era
Docent very knowledgeable about history of Verdier family and Beaufort.
Beautiful historic residence and museum in the heart of downtown Beaufort.
A short tour of a federal style house from 1801. Free tour, worth a donation. Takes about 30 minutes.
