Good memorial, but so confused on the location? I wish there was something there to give some context about the location
Sobering and quite sad. Im of Polish heritage and got teared up standing there. Im so glad its in a prominent location so many people will see this. Well done!
Went there around 10:30 pm. Nice and quiet area to go for a walk at night time. Good restaurants and clubs near by.
Impressive memorial. Tells a story history should not forget.
Wonderful event with good lecture of polish history. Good work.
Loved the setting and general atomosphere and resteraunts
Beautiful memorial .Rising from horrific consequences..
A truly beautiful and evocative monument which serves as an anchor of one of Baltimores finest areas.
A monument/memorial in an unsuspecting yet conspicuous location, close to the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Its positioned at the center of a roundabout drive.
Stunning sculpture as a tribute to the thousands and thousands of Polish officers soldiers and Cadets who were summarily executed in the Katyn Forest by the evil Russian communists who were bent on world domination. The Russians wanted to eliminate as many of the Polish troops as possible with the idea of taking Poland and never giving it back. They figured if they could eliminate the Officer Corps it would be easier to steal Poland from the Poles.
This monument stands in the middle of roundabout at Harbor East. There stands some fountains and lots of borders around here, beautiful spot.If you want to go here, you should get on The Charm City Circulator and get off at “Harbor East”(Orange Root or Green Root).Around here, lots of hotels, shops, movie theaters locate.
So not many people really come into Harbor East just to check out this memorial but if youre walking around the area, you should check it out. Its a memorial for victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre. Its also the tallest monument in the city. If you do not know the history of this or what sadly happened, you should visit it and read about it. It can be moving for some but serves as a reminder for what horrific things that humans can do to another.
I honestly wasnt aware of this part of history. Im glad I ran into it and got to learn more about it. Its a beautiful and impressive memorial. Added a photo of one of the many informative plaques located around the statue.
Surprised to find it at this location. It is well worth the visit.
A memorial for a horrific but important moment in Polish history. Also a great piece of art.
This wonderful and magnificent memorial let us know clearly that how evil the soviet and communism are.
Moving memorial to a WW2 masacre
Definitely a nice place to be...
Very impressive memorial! Of an important event in world history. Very artistic statue accompanied with knowledgeable explanations.
Nice artistic interpretation and use of a water feature. Resonates with the historical significance.
Beautiful Circular Park surrounded by the Four Seasons Hotel, The Marriot Hotel right on the water Restaurants, shops, movie theatre and great shopping .
This WWll war memorial was erected and paid for by money raised by local Baltimorians of polish descent. It is dedicated to the 22,000 Polish Army officers that were captured by the Russian forces, taken to the Katyn forest 250mi. from Poland, in Russia, murdered and buried in mass graves. It took decades of detective work to prove the Russian forces committed the atrocity. The monument was the original idea of Maj. Clement Kneefel USA, Ret and Mrs. Helen Adelman and they started raising money for the structure in 1975.
Nice monument in downtown. Really highlights the inner harbor/harbor east revitalization
