This museum and library is a must see if youre visiting the Baltimore area or if you are planning a day trip. Amongst the 48 room mansion you will be stunned by the famous John Work Garrett Library. There are over 30,000 books, some of the oldest and rarest in history. The library is opened to public for private events upon reservation. The mansion is filled with amazing original artwork like picasso, François Auguste René Rodin and many other collectors and patrons of the arts. There is even a guest book signed by all of The Evergreens visitors including Amelia earheart. I was very impressed by the many layers of architecture and history this beautiful place has to offer. I recommend visiting in the summer so you can experience the true beauty of the formal gardens but any day out of the year is perfect if you want to retain a part of history.

This was such a spectacular museum! We went for an art night and our kids loved it. The grounds were so beautiful, that despite heavy rains, we wore rain boots and took our umbrellas for a beautiful walk thru. The museum inside has such an,impressive library, and the volunteers/ staff are so kind. I can not wait to come again. Definitely recommend!!

In need of new dociers and concept! Knowledgeable but were rigidly inflexible and treated all four educated guests on the tour as if they were going to steal items from the house. Absurd! So rigid that It was not very enjoyable although some interesting facts.House is beautiful! Good luck to them. Put things behind ropes or glass (like in other successfully managed historic homes if you are SO concerned about security) if you are worried. Such a shame.

Evergreen House is one of the finest house museums I have ever visited. Its architecture, interior design, furniture, and its decorative arts and rare books collections are fantastic. Every room is a sensory delight. And even though guided tours are more than an hour in length, youll want to come back over and again because theres so much to see and enjoy.

Beautiful lawn/meadow area. Attended an outside production of Shakespeares Julius Caesar and the setting was beautiful! Parking is great and there were a few events going on at the same time. Great for a mini-day trip in the Baltimore Metropolitan area!

Having lived in Baltimore many years, I can not believe that I had never visited the Evergreen House . This beautifully and eclectically furnished former home of the Garrett family, houses incredible Tiffany light fixtures and vases, and artwork by Picasso, Modigliani, Vuillard and Dufy. It also features an extensive library, Art Nouveau and Gilded Age furnishings, a very unique home theater and rotating temporary art exhibitions . You can only visit and walk around as part of a docent led tour . Call or contact the Museum ahead of time to schedule your visit. Art, furniture or history buffs will not be disappointed.
