Enjoyed the viewing of the penultimate episode of Broad City. The theater is quaint and intimate, making every seat a great seat. A bit strange that I had to show my ticket even to use the bathroom or visit the bar and concession stand. Once my ticket was scanned, showing again didn’t make sense, as you couldn’t access those amenities without a ticket. Just made things a little more difficult for me, personally, as I am a forgetful person!
Saw Fantastic Fungi this past weekend. The theater and all the staff were so enjoyable and the movie is FANTASTIC!. Going back to see it again and hopefully many more movies at this wonderful theater.
Such a beautiful building. It has such a unique character that separates it from other cinemas. They managed to get everything right from the bar, the atmosphere, to the quality BUT I have to say that the seats were quite uncomfortable for a long movie. The arm rests were not soft, and there is a lack of neck support for an above average height male. With that being said, I would most likely come again just for everything else.
The movie was good - Cats, but the ladies room had not been cleaned from the night before. I usually go to the first show, so it seems that the place should be in fairly good shape.
Fascinating films are shown here, with a historic flare for the cinemas of old. Explore the neighborhood afterwards, but be careful!
This is a fabulous film venue..love the inside of the building..people working there are also very nice..will certainly go back soon
Its a neat old theater with balcony and a bar, but be careful where you park... I got towed and it cost a lot to get my car back!
Wonderful theatre rescued from oblivion and put to goods use by the Maryland Film Festival. A modest renovation preserved elements of the buildings prior granduer while updating for practical use. The main stage theatre is quite lovely; two smaller ones are not well raked and have an auditorium feel. Even so, you will have an opportunity to see unique films here - well worth the price.
I enjoy coming to the Parkway but why on Wednesday when I am looking to make plans for Saturday, are movies posted only for Wednesday both on line and when I called? Very poor marketing and patron service IMO.
Great recoved theater! Especially when you find a free pre-release screening! Very cool architecture, nice projection, overall great place to view a movie.Prices can be a little pricey but overall like it.
The parkway theatre has a great selection of indie movies as well as larger films. The staff is super nice and inviting. Plus a full bar is super cool. Have seen many films here and will continue to do so for many years to come. Highly recommended!
Great theater with amazing character inside the actual hall. Facilities were fantastic as well, with both a full bar and normal concession stand. Sound and picture were great, and I was left very impressed by the whole place.
Amazing old theater renewed. Theres also a nice bar and lounge.
Beautiful space, and great selection. Ive loved almost every film Ive seen here.
Beautiful, restored theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed a first-run movie in this venue that exudes old-world charm. Beats a sterile multiplex hands down! Ez parking right down the street & some great restaurants nearby.
Nice experience with Art scape I was an usher here. Meeting and greeting. The is a historic place built in 1905 WOW.
Very nice theater with 3 screens that shows independent, documentary, and foreign films. Theater 3 is small, but the AV equipment is high quality in all theatres. Chairs are comfortable and well spaced, so you have good leg room and people can walk by without having to squeeze by and disrupt everyone in the row. Ticket prices are under 10 bucks.
The management of the historic Parkway contributes to the welfare of the City of Baltimore. This is the second anniversary of Turn Around Tuesday that I have been priviliged to attend. Thank you Parkway.
Great place for independent movies. Get your movie fix on in this neighborhood which also contains the Charles Theater. Very clean atmosphere here with tasteful contemporary decor.
So love how they protected the integrity and authenticity of original historic construction and aesthetic!!! The bar is great too! And their selection of movies Divine!!!!!
The Parkway Theatre is a marvel of historical restoration. Many have no clue it exists or even what it is, but if you havent had the pleasure to visit the building, you definitely should. The Parkway is a movie theater hosting 3 theaters that play independent and Hollywood films and they are open every single day of the week! The theater was originally opened in the early 1900s and has since gone through many different owners and uses until it was finally closed and reopened by the Baltimore film community. It now houses a space for the Maryland Film Festival Circuit, filmmaking classes, workshops, films, and more.Their main theater is a sight to behold. With much of the building any of the salvageable historical architecture that could be kept has been brilliantly melded with the modern redesign. The main theater hosts a humongous screen, a grand balcony, and most of the historical out-fittings that came with the building from the 1900s. It is a breathtaking sight!Even better the Parkway theater does not charge additional costs to seat in the balcony and the theater itself has some of the best ticket prices for films in the city.Concessions are available such as popcorn and movie snacks but the Parkway does not feature any kitchen made food like weve become accustomed to in our modern film going experience. However, if you havent already you owe it to yourself at least once to experience this beautiful marvel of our cities history.
This is a lovely theater. There are three auditoriums so they have a decent selection of films to choose from. You wont catch a blockbuster playing here. You can see indies, documentaries, or revivals here. The seats are comfortable. If youre in theater one, you can sit in the orchestra or balcony. The prices are lower than youd expect, I think no higher than $10.
Very nice theatre. New seating and restrooms. Friendly staff. Nice place for a date. They have a snack bar in the lobby to purchase drinks, candy, popcorn etc. Would visit again
Amazing old theatre with two modern theatres added on
Fabulous art house showing obscure and meaningful films. Main theater preserved the original decorative walls crumbling remains (and the original balcony, too!), but installed comfortable modern seating for film-goers. Smaller screening rooms provide intimate viewing for special-interest flicks.
A great theater. Its taken a bit, but the style of restoration has grown on me.
Recent renovation of this historic theater has resulted in a state-of-the-art facility with lots of character. I recently saw Widows here in Theater 1, and I was floored by the beauty. Highly recommend!
Great theater! our entire experience was wonderful. bought our tickets online, they scanned them from my phone and we went in, super easy.
All of the employees were very welcoming and helpful. I got to see a great movie for a reasonable price. And its a very cool space. My first visit was very enjoyable, and I hope to be back soon.
Historic landmark we saw a classic Kubrick film called Barry Lydon great movie and met Leon Vitelli!! Aside from the small arts district Baltimore was a very scary place so sad there economy is bad and crime rates are high so unfortunate our goverment should be addressing this! We will not visit Baltimore again.
Just went for MdFilmfest and the place is a true gem. Great staff!! Screens are all perfect!! Great three screen theater that brings quality films to the area!!
Love theater 1, it is my absolute favorite place to see a film, great vibe.
I enjoyed the special event that I attended.
Great movie watching experience in a beautifully restored historic theater !!
Absolutely stunning. We saw short films at artscape! You can get alcohol which is a plus. The concessions are really reasonable. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They play a lot of fantastic stuff, so theres almost always something for everyone. Theyre also really involved with the community!
This place is amazing inside. Love the old/new feel of the place. Staff was helpful and warm. Nice craft beer selection to watch your movie with.
Wonderful clean place... Crowd was excellent
Opened in 1915 and currently the best movie house in Baltimore
First time there, great experience. Saw Led Zeppelin played here? With Q and A with the director. Such a different theater experience.
Watched Bohemian Rhapsody sing-along here with my mom and sis. Its cozy, definitely an attraction to visit in Baltimore.
This is a nice little theater. Plays a lot of movies you cant see anywhere else. Comfortable, small theaters with local snack good. It has a lot of doors so it can be unclear where to go for tickets when its not crowded & there isnt a lot of good parking in the area so plan accordingly.
Nice, intimate movie houses with great customer service
This is maybe the weirdest theater Ive ever encountered. One very old remodeled theater (where the screen might be a little too high) and two brand new theaters that seem like some producers personal screening room. Youve never heard (and will ever hear) of the movies they show, which wouldnt be so incredibly strange in New York or LA, but in Baltimore its (very welcome) nonsense. Plus great repertory screenings of things everyone has heard of, in case the rest of it was starting to make a little bit of sense.
Beautifully renovated theater space which embraces the entire life of the building.
The view from the balcony is best but the sound is lousy. The sound is great from the main floor but the sigh lines are lousy. The sweat spot is the front row of the balcony.
Great and vibrant theatre! Worth to be a supporter or/and a member of this project.
Maybe needs some more paint here and their but overall its a really fine place to go.
Love what theyve done (or not done) with the place. I was in the older theater and really enjoyed seeing the ruins just cleaned up and left alone. A great concept, beautifully executed.
Go to see a movie listed to show at 10pm. Show up at the start time only to have the doors locked and they open the door to tell us no one else has come to the theater for the show time. And give the ultimatum “make the whole staff wait for your movie to end” or “go home.” I come to the theater often. But if you have an advertised show time and close because you want to go home early that’s some bad business. Besides it’s not like you weren’t scheduled to be open or get paid for your time working. Don’t make your customers feel unwelcome to give you business. I have never heard of any movie theater doing anything like this before.
Quit and a relaxing invioment
Parkway is a great place to see films. Very chill environment with excellent staff.
Terrific theater, always an interesting array of films...smart selections. This is a great place to dive into classics or see whats off the beaten path right now, as others have mentioned. Oh- and their popcorn is top notch! Probably the best movie theater popcorn Ive ever had.
30th Anniversary of Spike Lees movie School Daze was sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha here! Theater is spectacular and has that old movie house feel complete with balcony and box seats. Had a wonderful evening with my sissie! Parking available in garage on Charles Street for $5.00!
One of my favorite spots to catch a film.
They show good films. Beautiful space that Im glad exists.
Gorgeous theater! I cant wait to return.
Saw Sollers Point there. Such a blessing to have a theater like this in Baltimore. The approach to redoing it by stabilising its condition really gives a terrific atmosphere. New seating, lighting, restrooms provided outstanding comfort. The movies tend to be indie art films. I just think its terrific!
Despite the cashier telling my girlfriend the popcorn was fresh as a new batch began to pop. The balcony and the movie Widows made for a great night out.
A very old school type theatre they have okay movies just the price and the movie is not worth it to me. But it is a nice theatre meant for adult older crowd
Great theatre.
Beautiful and ornate theater with very friendly and helpful staff! The screenings look to be varied and interesting, we had a great time seeing Mandy, and look forward to going back.
Such a beautiful renovation of an important piece of American history. Its great to see movies on the big screen.
Brilliant venue with wonderful staff.
Gorgeously restored actual old time theater. Plaster. Rondelles. Balcony. Side boxes. Perfect acoustics. Heaven for 100 minutes.
Under construction. Some parts beautiful, some hideous. Acoustics are good, seats are basic and comfortable. Beer and mixed drinks available.
Love this place. Beautiful History.
Excellent viewing experience. The buildings character and disrepair is retained such that you feel as if youre in the game Bioshock. We will be back again soon.
Great venue to book movie showings. They allow outside caters and have an easy payment process.
Seems like a great place to have a reception for about two ? hundred people.
YES!!! Great to see some classics on the big screen w/out spending all my lunch money...recently saw Old Boy...made my month...if anybody reading this is associated with the @thenewparkway, please consider showing Apocalypto.
This is an incredible place. such attention to detail in the restoration, great films, good food and drink. kinda pricey, especially for the area, but you get more than what you pay for.
I dig the vintage look it has and second floor of the main theater has the best view. Ive watched My Friend Dahmer and Charm City, two wonderful movies btw. Pretzels where delic and they also serve a few alcoholic beverages.
See movies you can’t see anywhere else. I love that there’s an area to hang out, have a cocktail before or after a showing.
Solid date place ; artistic movies, decent price, cool architecture
It was relaxing
The Parkway is the best place in Baltimore to see a film. It is a beautiful theater, great staff and interesting program you wont see anywhere else.
Very eclectic! Didnt expect that from downtown Baltimore.
Its a beautiful theater, but some of the seating layout is questionable. The first three to four rows are so close to the screen that trying to watch anything from them is extremely uncomfortable, even in comparison to other movie theaters.
Great atmosphere, comfortable seating, friendly staff!!@
Nice 2-D theater with palacial trimmings
Definitely worth checking out. I love that they modernized the building without erasing the beautiful decay.
Super cool old building with a helpfulStaff and lesser known films, as well as the Maryland film festival
Beautiful theater. Great films.
This place has a more classical setting, and I saw, this, great, movie that wasnt playing at the main theaters. Come here, for a unique, movie experience
A glimpse back in time. Awesome atmosphere. A true experience to be in an old beautiful renovated movie house.
Clean, state of the art theatre recently restored in the heart of the Station North Arts District.
Beautiful venue, great movies, good bar.
Stunningly gorgeous new theater in a revived and renovated old Baltimore building. This is a must see place for a film while in Baltimore.
Great sound and picture, comfy chairs.
Great renovation of the space. Knowledgeable staff. Exellent movie selections that otherwise would not come to Baltimore
