Its beautiful! Trails are clear, lots of lookout points. You can see the trains running below too! RUDE PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO TAKE THEIR TRASH AND DOGGIE POO BAGS WITH YOU TO A TRASH CAN IN THE PARKING LOT. YOU CANT MISS THE TRASH CANS OR DUMPSTERS NEAR THE PARKING LOT
I can see old remnants of what it used to be like back in the 20sand 30s when it was a resort area. You can see the railroad close by the river. You walked under the railroad tunnel at one point. There are some hidden gems like insects, plants, and mosses all over. I love that I can stop anywhere along this route, feel totally isolated from civilization but it is minutes away. This area is well taken care off and people are all around. I love being in nature and can still enjoy a nice meal in air conditioning surroundings when i get hot, thirsty, and cranky.
Absolutely love love this park.Riverside trail is perfect for hiking with kids !Well maintained!
Love the place plot to photos and we get to see a duck thats great
Best state park trail in the st louis metro area
Great hike! Got in my 10,000 steps for today...woohoo
A nice loop that goes along the hill ridge over the river and then down to along the riverside. Took us three able adults about an hour and a half, even with stopping for pictures. Trail has some steep spots and plenty of crossing roots and terrain unevenness on the hills. Riverside portion accessible from a nearby parking lot so the flat and more friendly packed dirt and sand trail is reachable if you need to skip the hill. Recommend the higher vistas too. Didnt seem as crowded as other hiking reviewers made it sound. We went on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Theres a rail line that goes through the center of the loop along the river so you pass under it in a pedestrian tunnel
Cool hiking trails!! Come check them out!
The Best view of a river ever with a nice semi- long hike along the river
Took this hike while there was an abundance of snow on the ground. It was a beautiful wintery hike. The view at the top of the trail was phenomenal
Great park! Good trails and nice scenery! Cool clear creek to get your feet wet in. Some trails go along the river. Restrooms, picnic areas, play grounds. Areas to bike the trails. Worth the stop in! Heard it gets a little crowded but we went in the early am with our dog and it was fine.
Not bad, not great either.
Great trail. Some of the stairs could use a bit of fixing, and there’s lots of loose rocks on this trail. Otherwise, it’s beautiful.
Great as always!
One of my favorite trails, hopefully they can get this fixed soon!
Its a 3.3 miles long refreshing loop. Nice views, not crowded.
Nice vistas of Meramec river below
I hammocked here and it was wonderful, that is all I have to say
Tranquil walk in the woods mostly in the shade. Fabulous views of the river from up above

Me and my son love playing here. We climb the trails and play in the fields and creek
Close proximity to my home. Well defined trails with beautiful scenery.
Too many children.
Wear tennis shoes youll need them for these inclines. Challenging but worth it. Few trails share these views.

Great hike with nice views of Missouri river
A nice trail, well marked mostly. Muddy.
Great trail. Wear correct shoes, a lot of puddle, fallen trees, and slippery rock slopes.
Short trail. Not particularly technical with several outlooks and outcroppings over the River from the bluff.
Best park in county
This is always a great hike!
The best and most popular trail in Castlewood State Park.
