Very pretty place and welcoming for walking my dog. She enjoyed her first walk through the park. I chose 4 stars because there are no doggie fountains. There is a creek though.
A fun hike to do with my kids and dog. We switched between trail hiking and creek hiking. My kids are all under the age of 5 and pretty energetic and this trail seemed to satisfy everyone.
Challenging trails with multiple connecting trails if you need to take a short cut. I prefer the Grotpeter trail. Its 3.75 miles of rough terrain, mostly packed dirt, however there are a lot of rocks, ruts, roots, steep inclines & decline, and areas where flat. I hike with my dogs here...great trails and water in the summer to cool them off. View from the bluff side is beautiful .
3.7 miles give or take.... equivalent to about 27-30 flights. Run this trail and you’ll reach euphoria! I’m addicted...
Riding thru is better, theres a lot of ticks there!
Nice park and trails except for the bicycles on the trail. I would not advise the trails for older hikers. To many bicyclist come charging thought the paths and force you off the trails. I was almost wiped out by one on a blind corner. I would hope in the future the park could set some times for hikers only. I think that would be the best compromise for older hikers.
Absolutely stunning and a great workout
It was a pleasant dry alternative to Scenic Riverview Trail. We added all three Lone Wolf and parts of Scenic River to avoid the flood plain. I had no clue that Google would follow me in the woods and knew what grot Peter Trail meant
Surprisingly fun trail. The dog was a bit scared of the mountain bikers but there was enough room to move off the trail so they could pass. It did have moderate to difficult hills at one end of the trail so depending on which direction you take the loop, it could be a difficult or an easy trail.
Trail is heavily used by cyclists and shows the wear. It is a nice 3 mile hike that you increase the difficulty on by carrying a toddler or a loaded pack. Good starter for building up to longer treks. Sections of the trail are moderately difficult due to the incline but these are short in length.
My dog loves this trail. You are also very likely to see deer if you watchful.
Nice hike! This particular trail wasnt well marked if you start out going left. Go right at the trailhead and youll see all the markers. A couple steep uphill points, some loose gravel, etc. Nice workout. Watch for bikers!
Great place for nature and trail walking...
Climbs are a little tore up in spots but great downhills
Very well maintained trail, and pretty diverse in technical sections for beginner to intermediate levels on mountain biking. The trail on the upper sections is flowy and jutting with lots of roots and some rocky sections. The lower sections are flat and almost majority is double track. The trail connects Lonewolf, Justin and Rollercoaster trails. Entry points are through lower paved road through castlewood. Keep in mind that this trail has a lot of foot traffic and a lot of amateur mountain bikers.
Beautiful hike
Muddy and partially flooded but still a decent hike. Looking forward to returning.
Nice trail with moderate difficulty. Part of the trail was flooded for us.
My favorite trail in STL! Challenging, technical, hilly trail.
A fun, short trail with a pretty grueling climb ending with a very loose and fast reward. Just dont dont go down.
The best trailhead that is closest to my house. I would avoid it on the weekends as it tends to get very busy.
Great fun! People are friendly and helpful. Great ride.
Good workout. Nice scenery.
Great trail. Equal parrd ascending and descending. Lots of roots and rocks.
Easy to find, in the parking lot next to the park office.
Nice shady trail. Moderate level
A park with beautiful overview on Meramec River !
