Historical plaque inscription:Gordon’s Ferry was an overhead cable type of ferry operated during the 1850’s by Major Gordon. An adobe station house was located on the south bank of Kern River, just a few yards to the west of this marker. It was also a station on the Butterfield Overland mail stage route from 1858 to 1860.
I always enjoy checking out our history here in Kern County. Its very interesting. Especially the Gold Rust history. And there is Still Gold in that there Mighty Kern River. Stay out and Stay Alive !!!!
Not a good place to swim but a good place to fish
I went here yesterday just on the other side of the oil Riggs it was a really beautiful spot
Interesting historical marker regarding the early days of the region. There is nothing else around.
Just work nearby. No real significance to me
Very interesting !!!
