Its pretty nice over there. There are better parks and better trails but this is great for being surrounded by sub divisions. The natural spring really surprised me. Small but beautiful. A nice open space to lay out and nap. Theres also a nice spot to do some very miniature and ameature rock climbing (probably not supposed to tho).
Very cool place. My husband and I took our little dog. Great little hike. Not much water...either didn’t travel far enough or just hasn’t been any rain. Did stumble upon this weird cult like set up area in the middle of the woods. Interesting...I would be curious if anyone knew what it was
This is honestly a really great park, I no longer live in this area but am very tempted to drive this far to come to the park and maybe trail their small hiking trail.
Great entrance to the walnut Creek trail system. Just like most Austin trails there are tons of great soon off trails. Also there is a pretty large spring that starts here, so it can be educational for the youngsters! If you want to hike through to walnut Creek the trails are marked well and keep you off of any roads. Most of the entire trail system here is very accessible. Please enjoy the Bluebonnet pictures :)
One of the nicer trails in Austin. Paved trail for those with kids/strollers and rugged terrain for the more adventurous. Enjoyed it!
1.25 mi, paved trail through pretty woods and creek, with full amenities and parking. Dog stations, drinking fountain, playscape, pool. Nice!
There are 5-8 picnic tables to enjoy a day.
Lots of trails for hikers of different skills and agility levels. There is now a trail that goes all the way to walnut creek.
Love the hiking trails, my kiddos love it and there is a lot of space to run around.
Good for biking and doging. Not hiking with kids.
Very pleasant and quiet. Great place to read or take pictures.
Went here all the time as a kid. Beautiful escape in the city
Pleasant park. I walked from Walnut Creek Park, 3.2 miles. Sometimes you can see deer.
Fun place, good park with swings and fun hiking along walnut creek
This is a beautiful park. Lots of families and kids. Kinds confusing though. We tried to find the waterfall or the bluebonnets fields, and pretty much walked the trail all the way to mopac without seeing signs for anything. I guess its an if you know you know type thing. But the park is still so nice to walk through, and the path is so perfect for bikes! I wish I had one now so I could go to this park and ride my bike every day!One thing this park needs is doggy bag stations and trash cans along the trail. We saw so many bags left along the trail bc theres no where to dispose of them! I had to tie the poop bag to my dogs harness so I wouldnt have to carry it the whole walk.
Great park, paved, unpaved, biking, walking, running, skating. Connecting to Walnut Creek is a game changer.
Enjoyed the walk/hike. Wished there were a couple of sign along the path. Certainly wished all the dogs were on a leash, but the were not.
A beautiful park with lots of wildflowers, grassy areas, basketball courts, a playground, and a swimming pool.
Its a park. Pretty nice one.
A great park that is maintained by the neighborhood. The updated trails are great for casual biking and walking
Good way into walnut creek
CLEAN & FREE ADMI$$ION...FRIENDLY$TAFF & VERY $AFE BUT MOST OF ALL IT I$ EVERBODY-FRIENDLY....
Great short trail but really well maintained, you can make the trail longer but using some of the side paths.
Very good park. And so cool playground! Recommend
This park in North Austin offers a variety of different types of activities for the whole family. We enjoy the hike and bike trails the most. The playground is nice and there are plenty of benches for picnics.
Visit this park for sake of my kid. She enjoyed in little swing with small oscillations. The place is full of visitors with their kids. The environment is quite and peaceful. My self and wife spent 30 mins with kid and came back to house. There are kid amusement equipment where they can climb, slide and enjoy.
Nice and scenic. This park has a jungle gym, a pool, basketball court and horseshoe courts. Its a nice place to have a picnic, take a hike, enjoy nature in general, relax and have fun.
Nice park for kids and families. Everytime we go to this place we meet several friends families.
Had an awesome experience at this park. Especially after a little bit of hiking with my grandsons. This park was quite a treat
Beautiful neighborhood park, especially in the spring. Lots of flowers, great paths.
Nice park, wish the trees were more shady and bigger.
It was peaceful, clean, lots of trails and my dog loved every minute!!!!
Clean park and nice trails!
Very nice paved trail and beautiful Bluebonnets!
Great hike along the creek with waterfall views and limestone overhangs. Bull Creek Nature Preserve is accessed from here as well and offers a long uphill hike along Spanish Oaks, cedars and other Hill Country usuals.
Very nice place to walk.
Sweet little neighborhood park, summer pool, play ground, hiking trail, volleyball
Bluebonnet galore. Beautiful spot for pics. Theres a trail. Parking spaces are plenty. Small playground is nice, however, the tiny rocks when kids are running make it easy to fall and slip.
Very calm place
Love this park. Great trails!
The pool and the play area are the most obvious features of this nice little neighborhood park. There is also a no frills basketball court surrounded by trees. A lesser known nature trail loops the park with enough shade along the creek to take a short summer hike.
Its fun her
Good hiking trails.
A very nice place to spend time at. well maintained trails for riding a bike, walking your dog, or just have a good time with your family.
Been going here for years. Most the time it is dog friendly.
A great, hidden gem.
My wife and I love the woodland trail walks there. The trails wind through the old oak trees, across the dry stream bad, and provides us with contact with nature in its purest form. Its one of the best parks within the urban center of Austin to enjoy wholesome outdoor tranquil activity. We even went off Trail for a while, avoiding the early poison oak the clearly grows everywhere in this park. It was fun.
Nice place to hangout with family and kids. Got separate picnic spots and kids playing area. Also good for trail walks.
It’s a nice park to bring the kids, use the pool, or play basket. The trails are not in a loop so it’s not my favorite.
I only came here to park and access the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. The trail is paved and it is very nice specially for cycling. It goes out to mopac near Duval intersection where you can either go right or left. Enjoy!
Love this little trail
So peaceful and very well treed! Good ample parking. Small rolling, nicely treed district park with hoops, beach volleyball, small kiddo area, outdoor swimming pool, park benches, outdoor fountain, classic washrooms and picnic spots. Bonus bike/hike Walnut Creek Trail 3.2miles to Walnut Park - which is a hub to a more extensive trails system.Barracks-style washrooms can use some modernization.
This park has a 10 ft wide concrete trail that leads from the parking lot 6.6 miles to the parking lot in Walnut Creek Park. Its accessible, great for walking, jogging, or biking. It is in an urban area, but except for a couple of major highways, you mostly see trees and Walnut Creek. Its too much for me to walk the whole 13.2 miles (74 years old), so I pick one of the access points and walk 5-6 mile chunks.
Nice walkways that connect to Walnut Creek District Park, 8 miles total
Quite place to eat lunch, pandemic style.
This is a great park, my kiddos love playing here. There is a good size play area with slides and fun for all ages. There are tables for a picnic lunch and a nice little trail right next to the playground to take a hike on after lunch. The bathrooms are usually kept pretty clean, especially for a park.
Great park in the city. Great walking path
Nice park. STILL Waiting on upgrades!! For Years Now!!
Cant believe we didnt explore this hiking trail so close to our house before now but it was worth the wait since the city recently finished upgrading them to ADA standards. We took the short walk of a mile but trail is over 3 miles total. Very scenic, including a small waterfall. Concrete walk most of the way.
Bicyclists passing you on narrow paths, people not picking up after their dogs.
Love the walk with dogs though the woods. Parts of trail near Creek had washed out. Nice wildflowers. Basketball and volley ball court. Picnic tables and a swimming pool. Went early on Saturday morning, very few people there. New bicycle trail be constructed.
Been bringing my dogs here for years. Love this park.
Great place to walk your dog.
Beautiful park with a well kept walking trail also a pool plus a kids playground
Great paved trail to walk or run.
This is a nice place to disconnect from the city for a while. If you have kids theyll enjoy the park while you rest on a bench next to them. The restrooms are in terrible conditions so be prepared.
Such a pretty park. I love going there in the evening and walking/running. Highly recommend.
Rough trail near a dry creek
Awesome place to visit and take a peaceful relaxing walk
Beautiful park. Great running trail, has enough room for bikes and people walking their dogs.
Great park with dog and kid friendly trails! Creek to play in and lots of shaded paths.
Great neighborhood pool - especially great for kids. Decent sized shallow end and lots of shaded seating. They also have lap lanes. The park adjacent to the pool is pretty good and theres even some easy hiking trails that young kids are able to enjoy.
Always a grand place to go for the 4Th of July. People there make U feel good.
There is a nice paved walking/jogging trail thats partially shaded. Theres also a nice mini hiking trail across a small stream.
I take my grandchildren there to play and go swimming. They always have fun.
Love how theyre constantly adding on and sprucing this place up while keeping the same trails and amount of trees and plants about. One of my favorite neighborhood parks.
Beautiful place.
As a continuation of the more popular Walnut Creek park to the east (connected by a paved trail under Mopac), Balcones District Park pales a little by comparison. There are new hike/bike pavements here which are very nice. But strangely missing is a usable trail on the NE side of the park to access the Lyda & Minor softball fields. The small goat path shown on google maps has an unsecured feeling. On the other (SW) side, there is a tunnel under Duval on the wrong side of the creek, but a trail takes one up to Duval and continues on the other side. However, this finger of the park is landlocked by apartment complexes with no outlet to get to the Domain. In summary, the park has potential but without an outlet north to the softball fields or south to the Domain, it feels more like a bookend to Walnut Creek than a vibrant destination in its own right.
Good walking trail. Nice amenities, large pool. Decent size playground
Fun kid friendly hiking trails
I like when theres no one outside.
It was fun untill a hiker told us there were giant snakes near the creek...eek!
Hidden gem! Just a little ways down the path from the pool and playground you find a path past a rocky wall and around trickling creeks. A variety of newly planted trees around to quiz the budding naturalist.
No lights in the basketball court :(
Its a wonderful park considering its small footprint. There is a small waterfall next to the trail.
This park has just about everything you could possibly need. Pool, volleyball court, trails, creeks, baseball field, playground, etc.Meetups are always happening here too for Yoga and Cycling and all those other fun things.Down by the creek is a cool little spring of water too. Sometimes therell be a fish in the puddle.
Great local park for kids and adults, hiking, walking and biking
A lovely park with a 3.5 mile bike trail. Great place to view blue bonnets.
Quiet. Nice breeze. Didnt see the small waterfalls that the pictures show, but I dont explore much. Clean restrooms. Empty pool in the summer? What is it for then?
Just visited this park today, and I must say it was beautiful, and I had a great time. Got to walk around, the rain just stopped and I was able to get some exercise in, the pavement was great, the pool, the trails are what made this great
Pool, playground and walking trails in a nice quiet part of the city.
It awsome exept they need a area were a schoole can have there own little area not by the woods
