I was rudely greeted by an older gentleman with long hair that did not allow me to enter the movie because we did not arrive 15 minutes prior to the showing. When I asked to be refunded he proceeded to tell me there system is down and I would have to call to get it done. He didn’t seem to want to put in the effort or time. As a business owner I understand that customer service is extremely important and vital to all industries.

So being a movie fan, of course, I have heard of Alamo and have been eagerly waiting to go to one to see if it lives up to the lofty name, so on my final full day in Austin, I decided to beat the heat and go see a movie. Luckily for me, there was an Alamo right down the street from where I was staying, and let me just say if I lived in Texas I would be going to Alamo on the regular. I cant definitively say that it is the best theatre I have ever been to, but when you add everything together it is pretty damn good. Incredible posters, good chairs, love the no talking and no phone policy, and the ability to get food and drinks is a very nice perk.Come up to Seattle!

Always a good time. Was concerned with attending the movies due to the pandemic, but Alamo made the experience comfortable and fun for all of us.

There movies are great, but parking is a headache. Not to mention that the staff is sometimes rude, even to employees. We ordered no butter on the popcorn and when we sent it back the girl named Brittany said directly to us that we were wrong. Even if we are, thats not how you handle customers. Before that, my friends had water spilled all over here. Constantly we have had bad experiences there. The only reason we go back is because its the closer to our living area and if we go at a certain time (surprisingly not mornings) we might get a decent experience.

The Alamo is a great movie chain and this theater is exemplary. They have a great selection of local beer on tap and friendly staff. The theaters are clean and the bathrooms clean and large. The attached bar is also great. My only complaint is the mediocre food. Its good enough for a quick bite but with everything else do good I would like more.

I had their roasted vegetable salad off a servers recommendation and it was amazing. Who knew salad could be so fulfilling! Come early, the entertainment before the movie is unique. I think they do dinner and a movie so well. They aren’t disruptive but also super efficient. Their food is worth the money, every seat has a great view and I loved my experience!

I love seeing movies at Alamo! The theaters are a great size for a more intimate viewing. The best part is they have a full resturaunt menu and you can enjoy your dinner while watching your movie. The food is also DELICIOUS, and they have vegan options. Their milkshakes are my favorite, and you can also snag a spiked shake as well. The Highball bar attached is also great, and they feature different events during the week. They have silent raves, magic shows, speed dating, and many more!

Very beautiful place . Very hard to find in the shopping mall. Wish they had larger signs to direct moviegoers to the correct location. The floors in the the theatre were pretty filthy all over. Not sure if they only have help in the mornings. The chairs were very comfortable and the snacks can be purchased from your seat before or during the movie but make sure you write it on the paper the attendant gives you:)

Was there for my buddys wedding and it was awesome. They had a band, and they were absolutely outstanding. My girlfriend and I dance the afternoon away LOL. It was an afternoon wedding so we still had time to get back to the hotel and you know have some fun. But I would recommend this place to anyone and I love Austin.

There are many places better to see a movie, and far fewer where you can experience one: Lamar Alamo is one of those few. The service and adjoining amenities (bar with karaoke) make this spot unrivaled by other Alamo locations. Combine those features with the ample parking in the deck behind the theater and there isnt much more you can ask for. As with all Austin locations, there are always fun thematic showings each season, whether it be a classic cult collection or foreign director homage. This is the place to see a movie in town.

Awesome movie theater. If you havent been to an Alamo, its a good dining and movie experience. They have a good selection of appetizers, entrees, pizzas, burgers, and desserts. They also have a lengthy draft selection and cocktails. They usually have themed specials as well. Our experience at this location has always been good. The theaters are clean and well kept. The tables are full row length tables as opposed to tables for 2, so its a little awkward getting out of your seat mid-movie, but not horrible. Definitely a good Alamo Drafthouse location.

Love this Alamo. Easy parking and still has the old musty feel. I also like the long bar tables more but that is just personal preference.

Excellent service and food. Katie is an acceptional server and handled us with a great attitude. She was on top of our meal and making sure we were always topped off. Couldnt ask for better service!

I am so glad I took the suggestion of seeing a show with my lunch at Alamo Drafthouse. It was the perfect place to unwind, slow down my pace and sit a spell. The atmosphere was quirky and enjoyable, the food & drink hit the right spot and was priced right. Iconic place!

I love Alamo Drafthouse. Its everything Ive always wanted in a movie theater. Real food, craft beer and cocktails, reserved seating, and Lavrentiy Beria-like enforcement of the no talking/no cellphone rules make Alamo Drafthouse the perfect place to watch movies. Just fair warning, this will ruin regular movie theaters for you.

I had a great experience at Alamo Drafthouse, mainly due to the wonderful staff and excellent selection of movies to choose from. It is easy to spend an entire day in the theater because they offer a wide variety of food and drink options to accompany any meal and movie. I highly recommend this place, especially on a cold or rainy day.

I love the videos before the show, their content has a lot of humor and is impressively created for each film. However, the food has never impressed me, which is made worse by its slightly above average price. Go for the comfortable chairs and positive movie experience, but eat beforehand.

I absolutely love Alamo! All of them are fantastic. The service is always great and they have such a wide array of movies to choose from. My only complaint is that this location in particular always seems to be louder than the rest — nothing to complain about— but noticeable. Other than that, it’s fantastic!

They put in new seats but did not replace the carpet. Smells musty and moldy. Didnt replace the flooring either. Stick floors. The two stars are for the staff.

Good food, good drinks, good flicks, good times. The Alamo draft-house has a special place in my heart as I’ve watched it grow from a few theatres in town to a massive company. The reason i’m leaving this review is because they still keep the character fresh in town. All the theaters here in Austin are great in their own little way.

There is definite convenience of eating food while watching but I felt the table is way ahead of the seat and you cant have back support if you want to eat something with dish on the table. Unless, you choose to pick something lean back and eat. The seats were great but not the best comfort one would expect.

Best spot in town for movies. Great service during the show and on top of mainstream releases they also have art house and classic film showings.

You will never have a better movie experience than one at Alamo Draft House. The menu is way too good. Seriously go here if you want to gain weight. “Well yeah but other theaters have food and beer service in Austin.” That is true. But Alamo is run by movie nerds. Show up 30 minutes early to your show to see a bunch of curated videos related to whatever movie you’re watching. Or go to the other places to just watch ads. Up to you. I’ll be getting fat at Alamo.

Amazing service and great atmosphere. We had to go back only a week later. Cant wait till next time. The seasoned popcorn was delicious as well as the wings. They were a little pricey, but I considered it worth it since they bring it all to you while watching your movie.

Amazing and fun cinema that offers fantastic food and a wide variety of beers. Super nice staff and seating is chosen when purchasing tickets. Highly recommended. 2nd favorite Alamo Drafthouse location in Austin. Decent parking but Id recommend getting there an extra 15 minutes because of the parking garage. Comfortable seats. Great food and atmosphere.

Popcorn is great. Strict rules around phones makes for a great movie watching experience. Food is definitely overpriced though.

What a cool place to catch a movie and have a beer, why would you waste money at an AMC?

I love the draft house. The only downside to this location, the South Lamar location, is they dont have the cut throughs, so you cant just walk out easily like you can at the other locations. Otherwise highly recommended.

The Alamo draft house is more than a movie theatre. Most businesses dream of creating the type of community that Alamo has. The staff go above and beyond for you. They all deserve a raise especially Charlie Cox, who did nothing but perfect service so much that I recognized him and was delighted to have him serve me again. The food is pretty good and the shakes are amazing. It’s hard to order what you want when you see the calories but hey you only live once.

Drafthouse is the best theatre chain in the country hands down and South Lamar is their best location. Perfect place to see a blockbuster or an indie flick.

A rather strange smell when I went but other than that the staff was attentive and very nice.

Saw Frozen 2 and got the Snow Queen shake. They often do themed menus for big new movies. Make sure you dont arrive late though, because they close the theater when the show starts. Enjoy!

I have never been to an Alamo Drafthouse before, until now. And I absolutely loved the experience there! The food was delicious, and I loved how the menu was themed for Halloween. I was amazed by the quality of the sound there. I could hear every single person in the movie talking and singing. I would go again if Im in the area, and Id recommend anyone to go. Also, be sure to get the ticket to the movie you want to watch ahead of time, or it will probably fill up without you knowing.

We saw a master pancake showing which is always a lot of fun to see. The South Lamar has all the consistencies which set the Alamo above any other theater (the beer selection, the food and the intolerance to disturbance). On this occasion the service was slower than usual but this had never happened before so I won’t let it affect my overall score.

Easy parking, central location thats relatively easy to access even when in the thick of Austin rush hour, decent food, excellent chocolate chip cookies! Bonus: they serve good drinks. Also, I love the Alamo chain because you can have kid-free, talking-free movie going experience, which hasnt always held true at other theaters. Dont get me wrong, Ive got kids of my own - and there are kid-friendly times to go to the Alamo, too! - but its nice to get away from it when you want to.

This location isn’t the best compared to others. They need to work on delivering their drinks in a timely manner and being consistent with their food.

Best cinema Ive ever been to. Dinner service to your seat and not invasive. Menu is standard fried food fair but the popcorn is bottomless and solid. Stunning decor and plenty of cinephile aesthetics to keep the eye busy while waiting. Clean, friendly and quiet.

The oil y’all use for your cooking is poising people, their gut and causes our cells to be suffocated from oxygen. I’ve only eaten a couple things and every time i leave, i feel horrible, get intense acid reflux and have a hard time sleeping. Please use grape seed oil or avocado oil for your oil. With the prices y’all charge, you can afford to use better oil. I will never eat there again and I AM a HUGE influencer in the food space and will tell people not to come eat at your theaters as long as your still using canola oil. Please do the right thing and nourish peoples experiences, vs. harming them with cheap, high profit oil.

This theatre had awesome seating!!! The chairs were comfy and the pricing was reasonable. I had a pizza and some popcorn when I went and they were pretty decent too. The seats are comfortable and help enrich the movie experience. Coupled with the sound system we can’t say there is a bad seat in the house. This theater is also perfect for kids.

Really liked the menu. Good healthy choices also. Loved the Colorado steak salad.

Visited Highball. Cozy place. Great live band. Nice floor to dance on.

Love Alamo! This location isnt my favorite, it just has a slightly older feel, less comfortable lighting, etc, but you cant ask for a better experience for a movie! get the pepperoni pizzaaa

We had fried chicken sandwich and fish and chips, they are tasty and juicy. Good selections of draft beer and cider. Very good service. Everything makes watching a movie here such an enjoyment. Will definitely come back soon!

Not a fan if this Alamo or movie theater in general. They took forever to take order when we placed our paper up. That took away from my movie experience because I kept looking around for someone to see us flagging them. Their seating design is very crowded and I the table bar is very far from the seat. I couldnt reach the table to eat, I am not the only shorty.

Pros: We really enjoy to rent karaoke rooms here. Also, they often have fun entertainment in the downstairs area. Cons: The only bathrooms are downstairs. The website is not user friendly when trying to make reservations.

My favorite place for movies in Austin. Theres easy and free parking in the garages nearby, and your 5 steps a way from Lick, Multiple Coffee Shops, and some great restaurants.

Honestly this place was great! Awesome drinks! We didnt get the popcorn we ordered and we were charged for it on the bill. Told the waiter and he removed the charge and still gave us some of the best popcorn Ive ever had! Cant wait to go back!

One of the most interesting things about this spot are these small rooms that I would call theme rooms. Lets just say that they make very interesting vignettes to do photography. The lighting is very warm incandescent. I think they can be reserved as party rooms as well... anyway... just a very interesting space. The live performance area is also pretty cool with a nice sound system and a good vibe. A little under the radar as far as I am concerned.

Quick service, good food. Only complaint is the $4.50 sodas. Like, were already buying food, why squeeze every last penny outta us?

I ordered their pizza. Its ok. Perhaps with lights I could have seen its color, i.e. in the darkness it tasted ok (Things taste better when you can see what your eating).That being said in the dark a Pizza should taste awesome.

Cant beat one of the originals, Alamo Drafthouse on S Lamar. They have the vintage Alamo layout and always have the best props for featured movies. Definitely recommend experiencing Alamo Drafthouse if you hadnt already. Oh yea, I would also recommend showing up early for the cool retro vintage preview skits.

Always enjoy catching a movie at Drafthouse! The service is fantastic and Ive never come across a server that wasnt incredibly polite and hardworking. The South Lamar location is currently my go-to Drafthouse, but Ive been to each Austin location and can say they are all great. You should definitely come here.

I ordered popcorn and Coke before the movie started. I didn’t get my popcorn until after the movie began and had to wait another 5 minutes for my Coke. Uncomfortable seats and I was sweating because it was hot. I wanted to see The Irishman at a normal theater but Netflix screwed that up for me. I loved The Irishman...the Alamo not so much.

I love the Alamo Drafthouse. The food, the service, the fact that its always quiet, the seats, the theaters. Ive only ever gone to two Alamo locations, this one and the Ritz and all of my compliments apply to both. I prefer South Lamar for the fact that its got more screens, which means more showings, which means theres almost always a seat available.

The food was excellent, and so was the service. The movie was really nice, but getting in and out of the seats was really difficult, but Ive got large feet. I stumbled a couple times getting out and in, and just had to settle for crawling underneath the bar. Also, the be quiet or else atmosphere is created went a little too far. We saw Endgame there, and it was like crickets in there, even during the awesome moments. Other theaters dont have that during the big badass parts. Theres usually a few whoops, which is totally fine. It felt a little uncomfortable. All in all, enjoyable, but I think we will visit a Regal 16 for our superhero movies.

Large comfy seats, easy to access tray like table in front. Competent staff. Close by three hour free parking in a multi storied parking building with elevators for people who park. $9 tickets. People should go, about $20 for snacks or a couple of drinks.

Sure, other theaters do food and drinks now, but the Drafthouse still has the best and most unique programming.

I love the alamo. They are still the best theaters, unfortunately theyre starting to not live up to their brand promise. The waiters talk during the film and then guests do. All that said I give them 4 stars because they try and it is the most silent theater.

A really good Alamo! Same food and movies as most of the other ones, but the service here is exceptionally good. Very attentive, but not enough to become a nuisance during the movie.

I get it. People don’t like to be disturbed while watching a movie. I get it turn off your cell phones. Check. Don’t talk full voice to your neighbors. Check. But when your wife leans over and whispers to ask what an actor said, and you give them a short answer, whispered, and the manager comes over and warns you about their no talking policy, sorry. He might have seen us talking, but he certainly did not hear anything, because whispers couldn’t be heard at that range. That is over the top. I will never go back there again, and I will warn all my friends about their ways. By the way, their little minions running around taking orders, getting payment etc., was a whole lot more distracting than someone whispering a question about what happened on the screen. Screw them. I will never be back.

A great place to watch movies and enjoy food and drinks. I would give this place five stars but I think the older style long tables might be a turn off for most as opposed to the smaller, more personalized tables that accompany most seats at other Alamo Drafthouse locations. However, old school Alamo Drafthouse patrons will appreciate the nostalgia factor of the old table designs. Regardless, friendly staff, great food, and strong customer engagement with movie themed activities make this place one of my favorite theaters to go to. Highly recommended.

Used to love this place so much and would always recommend it. However, my friends and I went for my birthday and the food was not the greatest. The apps were great, but I got a burger and was awful same for the meatballs. I have had the food here before and never had an issue, but was so disheartening.
