Pandemic edition: Great job with the safety precautions with one exception: staff members need to be present at the feature presentations conclusion to direct people out of the theaters or people are gonna do what they do best...ignore the rules. Otherwise great experience. The theater was clean, all the food was prepackaged, and the spacing between seats plenty adequate.
Food was great! Service was awesome! Had a great theater experience watching New Mutants! Loved the temp check, sanitizing stations, and other Covid prevention protocols in place! New Mutants was awesome! See it soon!
Opened back up, very safe and covid cautious. The rooms were cleanly sanitized and seating was very well spaced out. Great experience that makes it almost feel like the world is back to normal.
Best covid experience. Went for Halloween special, had treat boxes out for the kids. LOVED IT
Great theatre with comfy reclining chairs. Pizza is hot and tasty. Good wine and beer selection. Covid-19 friendly.
This was my first time at an alamo theatre and it was a cool experience, but they served bland cold popcorn and cold cookies. I understand theyre having a dramatic decrease in customers with covid, but that doesnt mean serve garbage when youre paying good money for items claiming to be fresh.
Yes. That’s all I can say about this place as the word yes. The seats recline and adjustable and very comfortable. The service is impeccable every time we get our order exactly right. Not to mention the food is delicious and the theater ambience is wonderful. Run don’t walk to Alamo Drafthouse on slaughter. And book online for the convenience
I felt super safe. The projection and sound is amazing, and the employees are really sweet.
Hopefully reopening soon! One of the best Alamo Drafthouses in South Austin
I cannot imagine that anyone anywhere else in the world has perfected the movie going experience that an Alamo! I live in Portland Oregon and it is a great sadness to me that we do not have one. Whenever I visit family in Austin this is a must. Being able to put my feet up in the seat is such a luxurious treat for me, as a short person usually my feet do not touch the floor! Excellent food and service. Make sure you park in the garage and get your ticket validated, dont park on the street!
I will lose my mind if they don’t bring back the bacon Brussels and goat cheese pizza. Please Alamo it’s been a year.Made me like buffalo cauliflower. Miss seeing movies there but the food togo gets us by for now.
Update: Ive now been to both the Lakeline and Slaughter Lane locations and they have different mask policies. The Slaughter Lane location only requires mask when not seated, so everyone is taking off their mask as soon as they sit down. The Lakeline locations follows the policy from their web-site and requires a mask at all times except while eating or drinking. The mask policy the location follows is printed on your order card when seated, and the Slaughter lane specifically says unless youre seated, and Lakeline says unless youre eating or drinking. So despite being part of the same market and franchise, they follow completely different policies. This is my 3rd time back with the new Covid-19 policy and Alamo Drafthouse is still inconsistent with their mask policy. At first it didnt bother me too much but the more I think about it, the more I realize they are lying to their customers. Alamos web-site specifically says Please keep your mask on at all times unless you’re eating or drinking. You even have to agree to that same policy when you are purchasing a ticket through their web-site. But when you arrive at the theater you are immediately told by the employee taking your temperature that you can take your mask off as soon as your seated. After the first time I thought this was a rogue employee just mis-representing the policy, but sure enough when you sit down there is a sheet of paper that says Please keep your mask on unless seated for your movie. These are two different policies and while publicly they share the more restrictive policy to get positive publicity, when you arrive you get the much more lax policy that might deter some customers.Im writing this review so that other customers are aware that Alamo doesnt follow the policy they publicly display on their web site. I imagine some customers are on the fence about returning, and this could easily be a deal breaker. My experience so far is that most customers are immediately taking their mask off once seated, so be prepared for that. You may still have an un-masked person breathing (sometimes caughing) right behind you and that can be a scary thought. Personally Im accepting the more lax policy, though I wish they had actually stuck to the original policy of only while eating or drinking. I had already purchased these 3 different movies before realizing they werent following the mask policy, so in the future it will influence my decision to see a movie there.
This location is the best! They have great cooks! The amount of attention they give their customers is amazing. Also, food is phenomenal. The location is out of the way if you dont live near here, but worth it. Unfortunately, no buses go by there as of right now.
The creepy videos of kids on a school bus kind of ruined the blade runner vibe.
Service and food was excellent!
Awesome theater with good food. I prefer the seating arrangement at this Drafthouse because the tables are split by couple rather than a giant bar style table, so its easier to get in and out of the seat after the rows filled up. This theater is fairly large and clean. If youve never been to an Alamo Drafthouse, its great. You get to reserve your specific seat, and there is service at the table, so you can order food and drinks. They have special menus that rotate based on big movies at the time, and they have a pretty extensive draft menu featuring plenty of local brews. The food is a little pricey, but its also optional, so you can just enjoy the reserved seating if you want. Definitely makes for a great movie experience.
You will never have a better movie experience than one at Alamo Draft House. The menu is way too good. Seriously go here if you want to gain weight. “Well yeah but other theaters have food and beer service in Austin.” That is true. But Alamo is run by movie nerds. Show up 30 minutes early to your show to see a bunch of curated videos related to whatever movie you’re watching. Or go to the other places to just watch ads. Up to you. I’ll be getting fat at Alamo.
Comfy recliners, great food, local cider, great movie experience! The staff is always discreet when handling any orders or taking any plates and silverware mid-show, and they even have a wave your ticket to report a noisy table policy. My experience with Alamo has been nothing but a treat, and have yet to find annoying customers as much as at other cinemas.
So sad you cant order while seated anymore. Why go to drafthouse over other theaters?
Best movie theater experience available in Austin. The seats are extremely comfortable, wait staff is attentive, drinks / food are good.
Ive always loved Alamo. We used to go to the first one downtown. We loved the Slaughter location, especially because it had tables, instead of the high bar that is too far away to comfortably eat. But the new tables and recliners are awful. Im not a fat person (135lbs)but it was a squeeze to get out of the seat, between the individual tables, and not fall down the step into the area between the rows. The seats are made for tall people. Im not extremely short (54) but the knee bend of the recliner was uncomfortable. Even unreclined you are too far back to eat your food.Last year we enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner. This year it was brought to us cold, with no knives. Which is somewhat amusing since we were there to see Knives Out.If this had been my first trip to Alamo, I would have given a worse rating. But I still love you, just please go back to the regular seats and tables, at least as a choice.
Nice place, decent food, prices REALLY quite high for what youre getting. Has new style reclining seats with the tiny little school desk table tops that dont move. I prefer the old style long tables found in Alamos older theaters. Dont show up too hungry, because you might not get your order until near the very end of the movie like we did last night. I was hurriedly trying to finish my meal before the ending credits, and missed much of the end of the movie as a result. No way a hamburger and fries takes over an hour to prepare.
The tables at the seats in multiple theaters covers part of the screen, no matter how you sit. It can be distracting, but its not going to ruin your experience or anything. Everything else it great, tons of parking, easy to access from the highway, great service, etc.
If you are on the large size, you will not like the table/chair arrangement. The old tables and chairs were just fine. Food is still great though.
Instead of commercials before the movie, they show clips related to the movie youre about to see. I have a hard time going to non-Alamo theaters and sitting through a 5 minute Coke commercial. This location also has recliner seating,, which helps make for a delightful and comfortable movie-viewing experience.
I love Alamo Drafthouse! The short films and other things that they curate and play before the movies is a great part of the experience! Good food good seats and good beer make it even better.
My fiancee and I went here for my birthday. The food was great! The service was wonderful. The movie was awesome. We had something token off our tab because it came out late and the runner was exceptional
This location has been super consistent as far as service goes. The new recliner seats are really nice! Seen tons of movies here. Alamo is the only theater I can tolerate now!
This Alamo Drafthouse has awesome recliner chairs as well as great service. Expect the same friendly experience here that you would at any other Drafthouse. It’s always clean and the building itself is pretty new.The downside here is it’s a good bit out of the city, but we’ll worth it if you’re looking for a showing last minute on the weekend. However, movie times are a little limited and there are not as many theaters!Overall though, I really enjoy coming here to catch a flick in a laid back environment!
Can’t wait to go back, always a good time .
I come here just for the buffalo cauliflower bites. They are amazing. All of the food is great here, along with the service. Ive had a great experience the handful of times Ive been here. I will be back. I come to the movies to relax and this is what Alamo is all about.
What I really like about Alamo Drafthouse is that there is a strict enforcement of QUIET while the movie is playing! No talking, texting, loud noise of any kind. I personally enjoy sitting through the movie without a running monologue around me.If you want to enjoy a beer, cider or glass of wine and pizza or something else to eat while you watch theres a pretty good choice of drafts to choose from and even a few vegan choices that wont break the bank. The seats are all el-comfy leather recliners and are must be reserved in advance. This theater was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. May became my fave~
Comfy seats and great service. I got a pizza and milkshake and they were super yummy.
Movies, beer, and pizza in one place? Whats not to love?! Their special events are not to be missed (think movie themed parties including special menu items inspired by the film). Service can be on the slow side but hey, youre in a movie, so who cares?
I like the food and their quiet policies during the movie. Is better to go early, so you can ask for food and recommendations, as well the shorts thet they present related to the movie youll watch.
I love the Drafthouse. Its the only place Ill go to watch movies anymore. But their food quality has really suffered over the years. Its still
Solid draft house, I prefer some of the smaller theaters. Slightly dated facilities but all movie technology is good. Standard alamo menu, nothing special.
My favorite movie house. Excellent food and service. Theater is wonderful.
So glad they updated their seating to recliners! You cant really recline and eat though b/c youd be too far from the table. The tables make it a tad hard to get out of the seats, but at least you have your own without having to share with a stranger like before. I kind of wish the trays would retract like they do in an airplane. I still think the food is a little over priced and service is never really outstanding, but the food is always good and their bottomless popcorn is a bargain! It does take a long time to get your food, so if youre going with the intention of eating during the movie get there half hour early to get your order in or dont expect to eat until at least halfway through.
Great theater! Adult beverages & great foodServed at your seat. Or adults can sit at the lobby bar. Friendly servers!
Very nice theater but the manager there anthony is very unhelpful and has an attitude. We once had a question about switching a ticket to another movie and he sounded really rude. I stopped going there because of that
What possibly could be wrong w a movie theater who not only serves yummy food, serves adult beverages, has reclining chairs and the coolest preview show? Nothing. Not one thing.
I love the big reclining chairs & the waiter service during the movie. I believe you can order drinks to be brought to you during the movie. Great place for a date night.
As usual, great service and food. I do like that theyve got some smaller theaters for the non blockbuster films.
We ate at the 400 Rabbits bar inside and had the same menu as inside the theater. They have every good swiss mushroom burger.
Food was great. Theater was quiet and NO cell phones on during movie.Waiter was attentive. Totally enjoyed being there.
It is awesome! They have comfortable recliner seats. The food and drink selection is great. Just a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a movie.
Very nice and welcoming. Love the lobby!! So awesome Nd nothing like it. Definitely upscale and classy. Great for a date night or casual get away. Have fun!
Reclining seats too small for someone 64. Cinemark seats a thousand times better
Theater and movie were all good. Ordered food 20 minutes before the movie, but food came just before the movie started. Fries were tough... not hot. Hot dog was good, but not hot.
A very good experience. We have not been here for quite some time due to an incident that made us very angry. A lady said we were talking when all we were doing was praying overt or meal. The movie had not started but we had not been back.
Super comfy chairs. Lots of room around you.
I really enjoyed it here! The staff was super attentive, the menu was great (diverse options, both yummy healthy and not), and the chairs were extremely comfortable. I also thought the theater was incredible clean, as well as, the bathroom.Loved it here!
Used to love Alamo Drafthouse but it has changed...and for the worse. Reclining seats were narrow, they bent in a weird spot (my legs were half bent) and the seats were super uncomfortable (felt like the lumbar support was too much). The theatre was super hot and the popcorn was drenched in butter (even though we asked for light butter). It is NOT worth the money! Between 2 tickets, 1 soda and water with popcorn, it was almost $45. Save some money and go see a movie at Cinemark Southpark Meadows!
So I love coming here a lot, the food is great, the staff is pretty nice and facility is clean and all. My only complaint is the last time I went, I got a glass of water spilled over me by one of the staff members and only got an apology. Could have at least bright me a towel, I ended up watching the entire rest of the movie shivering and wet.
Alamo Drafthouse is the best movie theater within the United States of America. I took my husband here on one of our very first dates and ever since we don’t go anywhere else. We love the food (which actually has flavor unlike most theaters) and the special menus that come out per new releases. Alamo takes movies seriously so you won’t ever hear people talking during the movie. We even moved to Dallas for a few years and only went to the Alamo that was a 35 min drive from us at the time. Even if we go to different cities while traveling and want to see a movie we check to see if Alamo is there first.
I enjoyed seeing the movie here. They have a small selection of merch in the lobby. Reclining seats were a big plus!
So stupid, I did it again! We went there hungry and ordered food, even though Id promised myself never again. 2 $18 salads that were okay (but not for $18 each!), 1 $12 Colorado Steak Salad that was embarrassingly forgetful, and 3 drinks came to $74.30 before tip. Its become your typical captive audience restaurant with overpriced food of mediocre quality (at best). The Austin airport has better food at better prices than Alamo! Still gave a good tip since the service was really good (and thats hit and miss these days). The one upside, and the main reason for the stars, is that they carry Electric Jellyfish (and some other good local beers). They do have new recliners, but that feels a little like a desperate measure - theyre still struggling to get reasonable numbers in the theaters for most shows. Which is tragic - they used to have really good food, and reasonable prices for tickets, food and beer. How hard is that, Alamo?? But theyre obviously not fooling most people anymore. It might linger on for awhile, but I think the writing is on the wall for the Alamo.
Pretty good. Moviehouse & eatery has a better ordering system, better trays, and better food.
Best chain of theaters to watch movies at. They recently renovated this location to get the seats like Mueller has got that have the reclined legs and individual tables. Out front its always a nice setup for the lobby and is chill to sit in place before the movie starts. Parking is iffy cause I have never got close to the theater and mostly parked by NxNW or the 24/7 ER thing. Good to go to on the southwest side.
This was my first time at an Alamo Drafthouse and it was a great experience. The burger I ordered wasnt the best, but the strawberry cheesecake milkshake I ordered was amazing.
Alamo Drafthouse continues to be my favorite movie theater chain anywhere, and the Slaughter Lane location is no exception to that. The reclining seats are comfortable, the food is delicious, and the drink selection is great. Its the best place to see a movie outside of your own home.
Great food. Solid beer selection. Cant beat this experience. Would recommend the Slaughter location to anyone. The GM, Jason Schwartz was very helpful when we had a ticket mess-up. (Our fault)
This is usually my go to Alamo in Austin just for its location to my house. They recently upgraded the chairs, so now you can raise the leg rest with a button on the side of the seat.Im only rating it a 4 because I wish they would add more vegan options whenever they do their food specials for movies. And although they do have a small vegan menu all the time, nothing ever gets added to that menu or changed.
Great food and atmosphere
Food is pretty good and staff was very nice. Seats are comfortable but the tray makes it hard to get in and out of your seat.
We love going to the movies here. Food is good and the family is always happy!
Great Theater. This location and a Lakeline are by far the best.
The service was great and I really like the automatic reclining seats at this location.
Dinner and a movie all in one, good for date night or a family outing.
The food is okay, the seats are better than average, but the constant walking in front of me by the employees without them taking a midmovie drink order leaves the experience tainted.Bottom line is that its a movie theater, leave your kids anywhere else on the planet before you go.
Good vegan selection. Plush seating. Fully reclining seats. Not a bad seat in the house.
I missed Alamo Drafthouse so much while living overseas. Their brussel sprouts, bacon, and goat cheese pizza was my go to meal. I feel like the recipe has changed since 2015, but its still pretty good.
The overall experience was a good one. Courteous staff, quality seating, great sound effects, and clean facility. The food however is a different matter. Ordered the brussel sprout, bacon, and goat cheese pizza. Very disappointing! It was not fresh and was at room temperature. Nothing hot, nor even warm about it . The brussel sprouts were only halfway cooked through as well, and their prices were too high for the quality of food.
Every Alamo Drafthouse Ive been to has been fantastic. Food is great, employees are super helpful, and they just put in some new reclining chairs that make it really hard for me to stay awake during movies because Im way too comfortable. Not a bad thing, just a thought. The only downside is with the new chairs, they could dim the under table lights a bit since they are kind of bright, but maybe theyll see this review and take it in to consideration.
The squash goat cheese pizza is really good. Also the chocolate chip cookies are really scrumptious.Thank you Alamo Drafthouse.
Alamo Drafthouse offers a top notch movie-going experience... Only knock on this location would be the seats. Too laid-back, even when all the way up.
Good.. they ran out of some food. Very quickly for a first movie showing.. I assume everyone wants the same food.. lol. But aside from that it was good.. I was asked to show my movie receipt. Which I noticed others around me werent. But whatever.. over it was a good experience.
Super comfy reclining chairs. Service is great!
I dont really go to any alternative theaters anymore, but Ive loved Drafthouse for quite a while. Popcorn is great, movie themed drinks are fun, though like any theatre the food/drink is pretty expensive. They do a great job with their pre show content, and I think overall these guys have a smart model and a great vibe.
Ive been told they are out of the chicken ricotta meatballs more times than I have been able to actually get them. =( What gives?
Everything about this place is great. Food, nice seats, drinks, and nice seats
Went to a family show that has relaxed rules. It was a great experience with my grandchildren; the 3 year old can not hold still & be quiet for 2 hours! Friendly waitress, just not fast or very attentive... it is quite possible she just had too many seats to oversee. Would give 5 stars, but for 3 things...the ability to get refill on drinks etc was poor. Also, the food/drinks are quite expensive; I LOVE that they put REAL butter on your popcorn & not the flavored junk normally used. One last gripe mention: does any one else feel the fee to reserve seats outrageous?
Love the Alamo, I won’t go anywhere else to watch a movie with my family if it isn’t the Alamo! Food is awesome, drinks are awesome, servers are awesome. But PLEASE PLEASE BRING BACK 80’S SING ALONG!!!
Amazing place super nice an clean.
The seats are really comfy, the food is awesome, the theater is clean and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommended.
We always have fun here! Good selection of movies. The food has always been good. The staff are quick & helpful, plus unobtrusive when theyre assisting. Seats are comfy and roomy. And its great to have a couple of beers while watching a movie!
The food is not worth the money you pay for it... Two of the recliners did not work. The sound was good in the theater.
Its a good one. One table per two seats. Not like older Alamo Drafthouse Theaters that have a bar style ledge in front of the seats. While you may end up sharing your table with a stranger, its better for the shorter person or children. The loaded Fries are awesome! My kids live the butter bottomless popcorn.
I only go here to see about 95% of all movies. Not sure if each individual theater inside has a different layout or not. This is the first time I was in this particular layout. Had reclining seats with cup holders and individual tables. The tables and anything on top obstructed my view as well as reclining. Love the atmosphere but this layout was not my favorite, or least favorite either
I liked the set up/adult vibe when you walk into the Drafthouse. I am not sure if the set up is the same in each theatre, but they installed permanent trays that cannot be moved, making it very difficult to get out of the seats. I watched every adult have to wiggle and position themselves in odd angles to get out of the seats. TRULY a terrible choice, to install unadjustable trays. I saw adults having to place their food items on another individuals tray, in order to get up.. PLEASE make the trays adjustable or remove. It takes away from the comfortable recliner chairs you have..
This is our favorite movie house.Great staff, good food, and lots of movies.
Best place 2 watch a movie. Awesome food/drink selections. Comfy seats. Dope service.
Ive been going to Alamo for over two decades now and Ive never been disappointed. This location met the consistently high expectations that we come here for. A lot of places have adopted features that Alamo has specialized in for years but no one seems to do it as well. The menu is unique, the drinks are good, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the pre-movie content is always awesome. I do miss Rocky Horror on Saturday nights. Maybe they will bring it back one day.
Fantastic. Amazing staff. Even better food.
Great service, awesome theater, excellent food and my favorite movies!!
