Such a beautiful garden oasis full of precious works of art. Im a member and every visit is worth it. Its one of my favorite places to take out of town visitors. Definitely go up the trail to look at the start of the spring that feeds the garden. Its worth an extra 20 minutes to just sit and meditate.
A really lovely place to walk and sit enjoying art and nature. I highly recommend listening to some classical or jazz and just observing.
One of the best sculpture gardens Ive been to, and the cheapest by far. I was let in free due to reciprocal admission from another arboretum membership, but I wouldve gladly paid the $7 admission fee. Very beautiful and only takes about an hour to walk through and read the pamphlet as you go.
Cool quelling date spot. There was a marriage happening when i went so it was quite interesting. Definitely take in all the nature and sculptures, and spend at least 1-2 hours there dont go quick
We booked the Umlauf for a video/photo shoot with a local influencer. Amanda, their event coordinator, was super responsive and easy to work with. The location was beautiful and the perfect backdrop. Id highly recommend this location.
The sculptures are interesting but jot great art for my taste. Its a pretty area. There are no tours currently just walk through self guided stuff.
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden was a wonderful collection of the former professors work. While his media, varied, I particularly was drawn to a few of his earlier bronze and stone pieces. His homage to Greek mythology was cool, too!
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden is fantastic but best on cooler days since the majority of the sculptures are outside. My favorite is right as you pull into the parking lot: the three muses.
Very pretty grounds, peaceful retreat in the city. Family friendly, and a safe covid-19 outing!
Beautiful spot. peaceful. worth going for the landscape architecture of the grounds as well as the excellent sculptures.
A very calm and relaxing place to indulge in nature and mesmerising sculptures..... People take their time looking at all the sculptures there....some sit on the benches for hours, painting or reading books.... They have a little waterfall near the entrance and you are able to sit at the top of it.....There is a little walkway and a canopy leading to it from the sculpture garden. It is a very romantic place for art or nature enthusiasts.....Its very close to a dog park and the Botanical garden....So if you are looking for a quieter place around the area, then this is your spot.
Beautiful sculptures love coming here during spring time to relax and unwind
Randomly came across this place. Pretty interesting sculptures
I recommend Umlauf to visit, is so interesting for every sculpture they have in the garden
This was a really nice, peaceful way to spend a little time outside! An oasis just outside the busy-ness.
Interesting little sculpture art museum. It is set in a garden and it is nice to stroll around. The art is quite interesting.
Amazing place to go on a date . Very unqiue sculptures one of kind .
Want to be whisked away in the artistry of the sculpture world? Well, this is the place. A natural, peaceful sanctuary to explore the many works of Charles Umlauf nested on a quiet piece of land downhill from his once private residence. His sculptures r lifelike & real leaving room for a personal interpretation. Guests weave through the garden by way of dirt paths, around ponds with lily pads, arching, large shade trees, a glass atrium for events & a welcoming that says take a seat, create & stay awhile. One could get lost in their own creative mind & world just as I imagine what Umlauf wanted us to. A definite must visit & see.
Fantastic and inexpensive. This is such a wonderful little sculpture garden. I could see myself coming frequently
A very quiet little serene jewel near Zilker Park. Doubles as an event wedding venue. I have been to 2 weddings there. If you enjoy good sculpture than you will likely be happy with the thoughtful placement of the many beautiful pieces in the gardens. Dont miss the Farrah statue.
Very cool unique sculpture garden in the heart of Austin. Fun place to visit if youre visiting because its close to Zilker Park, Barton springs, south Lamar and downtown. Id definitely recommend
Like most Austin residents, many have not been to the Umlauf Sculpture garden. DONT MISS IT. It is a great place for the entire family or simply a date night. But dont bring the dog. They are not allowed on the grounds. The price is $5 so you cant go wrong there. The staff is uber friendly and knowledgable. Stroll through the gardens, it will take about two hours to see everything.
Wonderful to go for a run around this area!
The grounds are beautiful and peaceful; UT campus has Austins other concentration of Umlauf sculptures. The 2nd Sunday of the month is family day, free admission, sculpture seek-and-find by age, and musical or educational entertainment. Details on their website (some family days arent on the normal schedule due to holiday overlap).
Not bad. I am happy that we visited this place while in Austin. Saw few good arts, very calm and serene environment that gives a chance to spend quiet time and enjoy such beautiful sculptures.
Beautiful, loved walking with my girls this place is fantastic.
Beautiful laid back park. Nice break from the busyness of downtown.
I liked it way more than expected.I like how they show the process of making a sculpture.very serene and beautiful.
Gorgeous exhibit and grounds. I adored every second of my experience.
Nice garden. One of my favorite sculptures was Angels wing.
Awesome lol spot in the middle of the city. scattered Charles Umlauf sculptures that are enjoyable. pictured opening for james surls
My Daughter & I enjoyed the sculpture garden, it’s quite a lovely place to visit.
Beautiful place to tour, friendly staff. Loved the sculptures. Reminded me of Martha Graham technique.
WOWThis artist really was at the height of his craft!!!Beautiful. Inspiring.Filled w emotions.Bring a friend!
Really cool place! I loved it, will be back for sure.
What an intimate gem! Space, light, sculpture, water, flora breathe a collective life into the artistic and ambulatory experience. I still walk the hallowed grounds of the Nelson in KC whenever I find myself there, but return to the Umlauf I shall, anytime
A nice sculpture collection by Umlauf. Museum is outdoors, makes a nice stroll by the Zilker park and contains a wide variety of subjects: Nature, feelings, abstract
A wonderful place from a great sculptor and good site for an event
Interesting sculptures. Nice grounds. Not far from the botanical gardens. My wife and I have been there a couple times now when visiting Austin.
Great little place with interesting sculptures, worth checking out.
The Umlauf is predominately an outdoor sculpture garden which is likely what most people want to see. And you will want to see them, they are wonderful in expression as well as range of subject. From religious imagery, to scenes of mother and children to whimsical subjects such as a hippopotamus there is something for everyone. However, a quick visit to the website details many other activities you may want to experience or plan your visit around.
Beautiful place to visit and see art.
Lovely art! Today was Austin Museum Day, so my family and I went over to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. There was live music, with students studying instruments playing. We were able to vote for our favored sculpture, and I learned a lot about the art of sculpting, meeting a bunch of really sweet artists. There was a little trail of nature with hidden sculptures, and a building for an art exhibit and gift shop. Wonderful!
Fantastic place to spend an afternoon! Such a cool little gem here in Austin.
Very relaxing, and quite interesting, not to mention free for military and family! Its not large but to see the progression if pieces from the artist through time was amazing. Not to mention a cool look into his life and all he and his family witnessed.
If you enjoy the fusion of sculpture and nature, you need to stop here when in Austin. Well kept grounds, self-guided walking paths, map of sculptures available when you check in.
Came for the last straw fest, very cool free event for the kids. Even free pumpkins for carving!
Quiet Nice place. Nice sculptures.
So peaceful and serene. Nature at her best!
Not really our thing but her parents loved it.
Visited on free museum day with sister & grandson. Enjoyed sculptures outdoors, the natural setting + grandson able to express himself with a giant bubble wand! Artists attended with their various types of art. Well- done.
Went to see the 3 light installations on opening night. The light arches were nice but not impressed by the high chairs or the pond lights. Got to explore night photography of the installations and the permanent statues.
Step into a magical garden that is beautiful and relaxing. The sculptures are inspiring. Quite affordable; can see all in 30 mins or spend time enjoying.
A wonderful place to visit, a real Austin treasure. Explore the gardens and sculptures, do activities, and be part of the community!
Smaller than it seems. Really pretty
Bec my bebe knows these wonderful people who run ot Ive met them they deserve all the love and support they can get.My fiance worked there. But art is art what i love is one thing from another person. However everything is lovely as far as the staff and education that explained to you.H ew lp this museum become the best it can.Spread the word!!!!Peace and loveChristopher And Trisha
Gorgeous works of art in a naturally beautiful ambiance.
If you are just here for the sculptures I would budget an hour and a half. There are tour guides but also quite a helpful site map with information on each sculpture that can act as a self-guide. There are restrooms as well as a water fountain and a small book store with items to purchase. I was able to access the outdoor gallery by public bus and a reasonable walk, but parking is also available.
Very nice sculpture garden, though I wish there were more sculptures for the price. Go if you can and especially if you love seeing the incredible work of a single artist stunningly framed or of you want to relax in a serene environment.
Gorgeous sculptures in a very serene park. Great for a quiet afternoon stroll.
Pretty and serene, has a couple of semi secluded spots to chill and enjoy the art and environment. First Tuesdays its free 6-8!
What a beautiful way to take in a few reflective moments in a city full of energy. The garden and works are lovely!
Nice and relaxing. Small but beautiful area with cool sculptures
What a find. Beautiful, inspiring and often haunting depending on Umlaufs place & position in life.
If you’re super into sculptures and willing to pay money, it’s totally worth your time. Small garden + museum, but knowledgeable staff and shared interesting info about the artist.
Beautiful art.
Some of the best sculptures in town and in a beautiful contemplative setting!
Great exhibit. Affordable student option which was appreciated!
What an amazing collection of bronze sculptures. Definitely a must see when visiting Austin.
So cool for being free! Not an all day thing by far but great to check out for an hour.
Great outdoor space
I love this place. Beautiful sculpture and nature. Step one of a beautiful Austin day. Step two is the botanical garden and 3 is a swim at Barton Springs. After that eat at any of the great restaurants nearby.
A pleasant little sculpture park to wander for an hour
A nice little outdoor sculpture museum across the street from Filker Park.
Its a very nice sculpture garden.
Cool venue for a wedding (which is why we were there). The sculptures are interesting and we enjoyed walking around the garden during the reception.
Amazing outdoor sculpture museum!
This is a nice museum. Its a well worth place for fans of sculpture art and photography.
A nice place to walk around outside and look at a bunch of sculptures.
Good dispaly of an artits work throughout his life.
Wonderful art sanctuary with a gallery in the building and trails in the garden filled with sculptures. First Tuesday on the month is free in the evenings.
Nice thing to do in Austin, could add more words to the description.
Was a very nice adventure. The statues are very nice. Staff very friendly!
Attended an event here and the scenery was great. The sculptors were amazing and the staff was awesome. Would have been a 5 of 5 but the facilities are rated for 250 people and the bathrooms are not.
Such an amazing experience!!!
If you like gardens, this will be your favorite Austin spot... not for the flowers, but the light canopy of trees protecting the statues resting on the grounds. It is best appreciated with a friend who is willing to stroll leisurely, and pause frequently. Students bring your ID for a discount, and bring your mom when she visits the area.
This place has a sort of tranquility that you cant find in many places nowadays
Very nice venue, but the enjoyment of the art was a bit dampened by this particular day being an event for little kids. We will go back.
Nice place to visit but probably better things to see in this area
