We love this dog park!! We have a puppy that were trying to socialize and this park is great for us because it has a section specifically for dogs under 25 lbs. It seems to be clean and well taken care of. There are several water stations to fill water bowls, but there are always bowls out if you dont have a bowl with you. There is also a creek that you can walk down to if your pup likes to play in water. Love this place, and our puppy does too!!
Great place that makes you feel like youre close to nature even though youre in the city of Arlington. People LOVE to bring their dogs here to swim. Be careful about letting them drink the water ours did and got giardia.
This dog park is the best in the area. its just awesome!! I used to come up here all the time when I lived there but since we moved away 2 hours away I have not. The first thing I wanted to do when I was in the area was visit this dog park!! just goes to show you how awesome it is!! There is a stream for the dogs to swim. There are multiple poop bags for convenience. There is water and multiple faucets so that they can have a drink. I like that its long so that you can walk with your dog and youre not just standing around like in a regular dog park. Its really a treat! also its nearby to shirlingtonw hich is a great area!
A very nice large park that is nice for all sizes dogs to come play. They also have a smaller fenced off area that are for dogs 25lb and under so they dont get trampled by the big dogs. The only reason I rated it 4-star is because I wish there is more grassy areas. The dirt/dust was manageable at first but once all the dogs showed up, it gets pretty dusty pretty quickly.
Shirlington Park consists of a trail, a bridge, and some exercise stations. The trail is really nice between Shirlington and Walter Reed Dr.; its connection to the Four Mile Run Trail grows narrow and involves a cramped, dangerous crossing of Shirlington Rd.
Huge park! Friendly dogs and owners. My pup had a great time running around and swimming!
Great place for dogs to run and play. Little kids could get knocked over by racing dogs.
Great dog park where you can walk your dog off leash.
Apartments. infested with rats, cockroachs, and bed bugs
I like the set up for the dog park to walk along the water, go down to the water and let the pups play, then let them dry out on the walk back. We have a 20lb mix who loves to play with the other dogs and in the water. Most owners are pretty close by and keep good supervision on their pups. They have a good number of clean up stations with bags.Parking could definitely be better and its annoying to pay for parking but it makes my dog so incredibly happy that a few bucks is worth it.
Great place for dogs to run and swim. Gets crowded and not everyone pays attention to their dogs.
Love this place so much! It’s always busy so you’re guaranteed to have other pups for yours to play with. People keep it clean and watch their dogs well. The creek access is awesome but make sure your dog is fully vaccinated in case they want to swim, because the water is not necessarily treated. We come every other week now and my dog loves it.
I love the Shirlington Park! I mostly come here for the dog park which is great! There are both small dog and big dog parks separated by a fence and there are always a ton of dogs in both parks! Thankfully the park rarely feels crowded. You can even access a water area for the dogs to play in if you. The one downside to this park is that parking fills up really quickly and it can be challenging to find a good spot. Especially on Saturday mornings.
Definitely a great park for the dogs. Has a long run out for the dogs to stretch their legs. Plenty of trash cans. I believe all of the bags though are on a donation basis so bring your own and dont forget to pick up after your doggo! There are also two areas for the dogs to swim. One has steps that go down and the water is a bit more shallow. The other is a bit rough to get down to due to no steps but the water gets deeper for the taller dogs to swim. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Great location all the dogs were friendly
Best dog park around.lots if trees, some grassy areas, a stream runs through it, 2 water stations, bags provided for you, small dog area, great dog friendly establishments nearby, lots of great food nearby with dog friendly patios, dog friendly brewery. This place has it all!
Amazing great dog park.
Great dog park. Lots of other dogs, tons of room to run, and access to the river if you want to climb down and let your dog in the water. Most folks pick up after themselves so its always fairly clean. There are a few self-service dog wash businesses nearby as well if you have an especially dirty adventure.
One of the best dog parks I have ever visited! Such a long stretch to walk down, including a small dog section and even access to the river from both ends.
This park is not near my home, but its the best dog park in the area, so I make the drive to it.Lots of room for dogs to run, a water fountain and access to a natural creek for playing in the water. Free dog bags and benches for owners to sit while watching their pets.Like all dog parks, theres the usual problem of owners not picking up after their pets, so dont wear sandals here. And, youll also have to watch out for people more worried about taking Instagram photos than watching their aggressive dogs, but its still the best dog park around.
Live this park. People a very friendly
Love this dog park. Absolutely unique you wont find one like it in the area. Water is kind of gross though so be ready to wash your doggo asap after leaving
Perfect place for dogs. Boardered on one side by a creek and they other by fence.Walking path lined with trees. No human restroom facilities.Backs up to local business that service cars and your dog needs.Street parking available.
Probably the largest dog park by area in the region. Dog and dog owners are usually good about monitoring their dogs to keep everything on the level when it is busy.Only significant thing to watch out for is that the two water stations are both near the east end of the park, and there are none in the west half.
Love this park. My fur baby loves it too
Always a great experience for my dog and I. Other owners are considerate and friendly. We have never had an issue here :)I know there is a small riverbank down below, but my dog doesn’t enjoy the water so I can’t speak on that experience. The only drawback to this park is the layout. Instead of being able to see each end of the park, it’s more like a gated in path. I constantly find myself tracking my dog down as he walks back and forth.
Fantastic, unusual dog park which includes a natural creek for dogs to romp around in. Theres a separate area for small dogs and puppies, if all those retrievers are just too overwhelming for your little one. Excellent place!
Closed in separate area for smaller dogs, puppies, and special needs pets is a huge advantage of the Shirlington Dog Park. Ground is mainly dirt; plenty of trees, and the rest of the park is long. There is a creek where dogs can play in th the water. Parking may be tight when very busy (early evening, weekends).
Great place for dogs! Lots of room to run around and go swimming. Lots of different types of dogs so its great for getting your dog socialized properly.
Huge dog park, a lot of resting areas and well maintained.
This place is my pups favorite place to go. It is 3/4 mile long and wide enough for all the dogs. Be prepared, there are always some people that bring an aggressive dog that bites there and wont control their dog. Otherwise it is a perfect place to let your dogs run and play.
Great place to play with our RC Crawlers and take walks with the pup.
Great off-the-leash park for dogs of all sizes.
Friendly people and great place for your dog to be social and burn energy
Huge off-leash dog park. Bring a towel, even if you dont plan for your pup to go in the stream... sometimes the gate is left open a second too long.
Very nice place to relax. People are walking, jogging, biking, walk their dogs too. There is a place to make a barbecue and playground for kids. You can also play volleyball. My only wish is that there would be a loop to make. Unfortunately after 15 minutes walk you have to turn around and walk back the same way to get back to your car.
I felt weird without a dog, but it was nice to just see all the dogs and people interact with one another.
Great place to take your dog.
So spacious! and great doggy water fountains and usually very clean and the dogs there are usually very nice and well-behaved!
This is the only dog park I take my dog to. I love the area, and its well maintained. The other pet owners are always super nice, and its great to have a groomer on site to wash my dog after he plays in the creek for a while!
The area for the small dogs should extend and be better kept up especially the smell!
This path/park has fitness stations that are great for enhancing a run or walk.
Spacious and clean
Its medium size but worth visiting..
The Shirlington dog park is awesome, if a little too small for the number of dogs that visit. Lots of interesting things for the dog to do. Summer afternoons are even better because New District brew co opens their patio and taproom. Winter is a little less inviting as the bathrooms at the nearby park are closed for the season; so theres no place to do your business after Fido takes care of his.
It’s a doggie park in first place,my dog meet a lot of friends so am I.
Fantastic, large off leash dog park. Dog owners are responsible for their dogs, so there is little aggressive behavior. Access to the creek also allows dogs to run up and down hills, so having a border collie, my guy can get a great run in.Local dog day care and training centers provide bags and Arlington co provides several trash bins, so poop is typically cleaned up and the park is clean both on the path and off.
Best dog park in the DMV area for sure. Basically a fenced in off leash stroll thru the woods with Creek area for dogs to swim. Different people everyday.
This is an excellent place to bring dogs of all sizes and ages. There are two sections -- one for small dogs and puppies and one for big dogs. There is a lot of shade and access to Four Mile Run so the big dogs can splash around. There is always a fair amount of dogs there so your dog will make new friends. Parking is scarce, however, so sometimes weve had to park on the street a block or two away and walk to the park.
We visited this past weekend & thought it was a decent park. Our dog is generally used to being off-leash, so this was a good place to be ankle to walk and leery our dog stretch his legs since its a long & narrow play area that runs along the river. You can also let your dog play in the river, but theres posted signs about how clean the water is, so just be aware before you let your dog play & then they get sick. Just a side note, theres always bad apples in every dog-owner bunch, but on the whole, a pretty good place to bring your pet.
My local Shirlington Park is a great place to walk, workout and just enjoy the outdoors.
The coolest dog park I’ve encountered in my travels. Long enough for a good, quality walk if you cover the length a few times. Lots of trees for shade and some tables with benches if you’d rather sit. A separate area for tiny dogs if you’re worried about the big ones. Multiple access points to Four Mile Run, which is like a small river, so you can play with your dog in the water. Competition for parking can be fierce due to the park’s popularity, but it’s totally worth it.
Great place for everyone. Dogs are always welcome
Like the park nice long dog run... My pup loves it. I dont like the stupid park visitor who every time inevitably opens the gate down to the river and just let my dog through.
Well designed dog park with lots of grass and tree lined runs that allows dogs to gallop and frollick while humans can stroll along the paved path. Water is available for dogs at two spots and there its a separated puppy area. Very friendly humans. It can get busy and parking can be difficult at peak hours on weekends.
Good dog park. Crowded hours on weekends. Well maintained.
Really long dog park with a swim area for the dogs. Dont know how clean the water is though but dogs sure love it!
Love to take the dogs there!
Its a great dog park that always had plenty of pups to play with! Its big with plenty of room to run and play. Theres a small dog/puppy area if your pup isnt up to playing with large dogs, and theres also a creek area for the water dog in all of us!
Longish off-leash dog park with a cooling creek for hot dogs. Parking is abysmal. Pure mud after rain. Lots of drinking water for dogs n people. Good shade. Tarred walking path. Separate area for small dogs n puppies.
This park in a staple in Shirlington and one that should be protected. This dog park has access to water for swimming and is very long so you and your pup can walk up and down. There is also a small dog park for the tiny ones.
Best off-leash park in NoVA.
Best doggie park ever!
For the DMV very nice park. Not terribly big but next to a stream you can take your dog to
Kid friendly playgrounds and sports fields.
Great place for a walk
Best dog park Ive ever been to!!
My dog loves this dog park!
Great park and amazingly huge.
Best dog park in the nova area
Best dog park in the DMV area. Great space for your dog to run around, explore and burn off some energy.
We love this park and so does our puppy
Best dog park we have nearby. its a really long park with a paved path that lets you have a decent off leash walk with your dog. there is water access also for your dog
Best dog park ever!
Took my dog to the dog park there, and it was amazing. Had a nice path to walk on and was one of the larger dog parks I have been to in the area, also had access to the water which my dog loved.
If you have very active/outdoorsy/adventurous dogs, its worth going out of your way to visit. There arent many fenced dog parks where you can play in a fairly large creek with your dog.
My dog loves it, so Im pretty sure shed give it 5 stars if she could
I never have to worry about my dogs getting along with everybody else. The creek is an awesome and unique feature and we love to spend time playing in the water.
Great dog park. Large walkway. There are usually lots of dogs. There is access to water, which is really fun when the weather is nice.
This park is great for people of all ages, it has a pad for biking, scooting, skating, runing, walking etc,. With access to the creek for your pets or for the kids, good place for picnics too. And every time I have been there is clean.
Very large dog park, long and wide, with a paved path all the way through. Four Mile Run Stream is adjacent and accessible, but the stream is not fenced for the dogs.
Nice trail for booking and running
Best dog park in Arlington, long walks and swimming
I love it
Best dog park of the city! Super long so you can actually walk with your pup, and very popular so youre likely to find a play buddy. :)
Very nice place to do some outdoor workout, has pretty much everything you need.
