Went here with two small kids (2&4) and it was an easy and pleasant trail. It is well maintained and very clean.
Parking is okay. But their nature center is great. They have a blacksmith shop and a recreation of an old house. They do fun activities for kids and it a great place to take a walk.
This is an amazing place to bring kids. They have a large variety of local animals on display to include an owl. There is a lot of educational information about the local environment and some of the regional history. There are also a few trails that are open from dawn to dusk. The trails are used a lot by locals for walks to include taking dogs for walks. There is also a historical blacksmith shop that is still in active use. See the blacksmith guild of the Potomac for more info.
It has live animals that are great for kids to view, a bee hive, a rescued owl, and A great educational area for kids. There is a nice outdoor area for a short interesting walk. It is a great combination of the outdoors and a complimentary indoor education. Plus, the people that work there are kind, informative, and friendly! Great free couple hour activity for kids and even the nature minded adult!
The waterfall where the Gulf Branch creek meets the Potomac, is a beautiful location. Also, make sure to walk along the heritage trail at the foot of the fall, it may be difficult for some to access, but is both a scenic and rewarding hike.
Kids friendly. amazing place for them to learn about nature.
I really ennoyed the scenery and a nice environment for my children to play and catch/release animals. They love the water and its close to the potomac
