It was hard for me to watch for enemies coming up the potomac. Plenty of trees have grown up over the hill making line of sight an issue. However, for sitting around and chatting with friends, it was quite acceptable.FYI, the well has been capped off and is no longer a viable source of water. You should bring your own.
It was a lovely stroll around a beautiful setting, just wished there was more of it!
Pretty place well kept. Rather small
This is a nice, well maintained park with a nice hiking trail for youngsters. Pretty wild flowers and open bathrooms. No picnic benches.
Small hidden spot... Pretty.
Great in city hiking.
Beautiful little historic park tucked into a nice neighborhood in Arlington
Great venue for a celebration.
Nice setting. About the nicest and most intact of most of the civil war forts defending Washington. With a very walkable trail in the woods.
Nice quiet neighborhood park.
Beautiful place for a walk (or a wedding!). Definitely a hidden gem.
This place is a great park you can bring your kids to learn about the civil war and they realy peserve the park and they also have fun reenactments for everyone to see. Very beautiful park to walk aound exept GW Parkway is very loud and disturbs the peace.
A little bit of nature in the neighborhood.
Historic Civil War encampment overlooking Potomac River
Beautiful place to go to learn about the Civil War. You can also tale a walk. There is a lot of parking.
Celebrate a wedding and reception at fort cf park.
Great experience allways
Time with nature was great!
Nice management. Small place inside.
Great little park. Nice view across the Potanic.
Place to walk or sit. Pretty, but only a short path. Parking lot for 15-20 cars. No playground. Beautiful house for rental venue, not otherwise accessable. Bring your own water.
Great gem of a historical park in a unexpected place!
A great place of history. Protection of the city during the Civil War.
Beautiful setting for a small wedding or other intimate gathering. Lovely grounds in a darling neighborhood. Beautifully restored house.
Open dawn to dusk. Great place for bird watching or walking your dog. Wonderful programs during the summer like the fire fly festival. Also a great place to host weddings either indoor or outside.
Fascinating piece of history in Spout Run.
We live within walking distance so are often here. Never crowded, very peaceful. Sometimes the house has art collections. Our son loves the cannon.
Love the trails and field.
Occupied by Union Forces during the Civil War to protect southern approach to Washington, DC. The park is operated by Arlington County. The fort is no longer standing, however the grounds are extremely well maintained. The Hendry House is located on the property; utilized for parties, receptions, and special events (for a fee.)
Neat community park nestled in suburban Arlington. Fort C.F. Smith served as one of the perimeter defenses of Washington D.C. during the American Civil War. The park itself is small and a visitor should budget an hour to see everything at a slow pace. If interested in the Civil War history of Arlington, be sure to check out nearby Fort Ethan Allen.
Great photo spot
One of the best spots for birdwatching in the county, and did you know you can rent a historic house here? An awesome wedding location.
Very pleasant little park in a quiet neighborhood. Nice trees.
This is a quiet little historical park with a half mile hiking trail that seems popular with bird watchers. The area is good for a picnic.
Quite fairly small park with a walking path and a rentable house on the property. Within a neighborhood and near the river, and when I came here in the winter it was still well maintained.
Its a nice piece of history
Decent place to use for engagement or headshots for photographers
Fun time for kids and all.
Cool place
History baby
Ok
Try to check it out when the house is open - a very cool old place in the craftsman style.
Good
Loved this jungle
A lovely outdoor park to get away from a chaotic world for a while.
Quiet place for a walk
