We went at sunset, and there were hardly any people. The restrooms were closed and we had kiddos that needed to use the bathroom. The sweet guard opened the restrooms for us. That allowed us to enjoy the peace and beauty of the monument and the view much more comfortably. Kind people make all the difference!
The Air Force memorial is on a hill with some decent vista of DC. The sculpture has three spires in the sky which is inspiring. There is not much beyond that but the memorial is fun to see up close. Of course, you can also visually see it from the road. There is a grassy hill to sit but no formal seating.
I was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in laying there wreath at the Tomb Of The Unknown Solider, which is what brought me to the DC area. I took this opportunity to visit the Air Force Memorial. We actually stopped by to watch the fireworks from the hillside as well. Its an awesome tribute to the Air Force. They can be proud of this place.
As a current member of the worlds greatest Air Force, this memorial is memorable and special. The lone staff member poked his head out to give us a few bits of info and it was just an overall somber experience. Thanks a lot to George W. Bush for establishing this patch of ground in memory of those that fought and died in a patch of sky.
Im biased, due to prior military service, but this is a good monument with history of heroes and a good view of the Pentagon. Parking is usually good, bathrooms on site, and its a good part of a combo trip if you are also going to see the Pentagon.Be aware that you need to be prepared for bad weather as it is outdoors. Also, many roads in this area so it can be a little overwhelming for those that understand the term back roading. Bring an extra person to help navigate as the memorial is tall and easily seen.30 minutes is a good amount of time to be leisurely in seeing this monument, you wont need more. You might want to make this a picnic spot. Entire area is very wheelchair accessible with handicapped restrooms.
Nice soothing place. Theres not much to do. Kids will definitely get bored as its just this Monument at the place and nothing else. You can get a view of Arlington Cemetery, Washington DC, Washington Monument, Pentagon etc.
Such an amazing, truly, memorial to the men and women of our Air Force. A truly well done memorial, that is more than breath taking to behold!
Amazing spiritual place. Very clean and peaceful. There you can see Former President Kennedy’ tomb and the change of soldier in the unknown soldier ceremony.
This was my first time ever coming to this memorial, I had always seen it from a distance but never had the opportunity to get this close and experience. It is always important to remember those who have the ultimate sacrifice, for any service. Never forget where you are in life because of what those did before you. Land of the free because of the brave! Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Great view of the city, very clean and well kept
Probably a huge bias here but I really enjoyed this memorial. It does a great job in memorializing key attributes and honors the service of the personnel of the United States Air Force and its heritage organizations. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to visit.
The memorial was well designed and highlights the history dating back to early 1900s, the Air Force core values, and the Airmen medal of honor recipients.

Really loved this memorial. There was an Air Force rock band playing the night I was there. The sun setting, good music, honoring our armed forces left a lasting impression.
Not much...but we can Honor by enjoying.the Valor
What a really beautiful and cool Memorial! It is so tall it is hard to photograph with a cell phone, had to do a Pano shot. Beautiful at night too!
Truly spectacular memorial. The light at the base of the memorial is amazing as the sun is going down. It took me years to get around to visiting. I wish Id checked it out sooner.
Been to D.C. many times the past several years.Never had a chance to see this memorial up close; only saw the 3 spires that overlook hwy 395.Glad I stopped to see it. Nice memorial to those who served in our Air Force.Closes at 8pm.
Great view of Washington DC and Pentagon city. You can National Monument, Capitol Building Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon building.Theres is a grassy hill to sit facing towards Washington DC.
Million dollar skyline views of D.C. with easy parking and access.
Beautiful Airforce Memorial but not visted by many tourist
A beautiful monument to the men and women of the Air Force. This was not originally on our itinerary but we noticed it while visiting the Pentagon and decided to go. It was well worth it.
Fantastic monument that inspires greatness and supports all the amazing american values
Nice memorial commemorating the Air Force’s heroes and ideals. It also has a nice view of the city and large grass slope where you can hangout with friends
Nice memorial, limited parking spaces however. Good views of the Pentagon the Washington monument and the Capitol building from this point. Also some of Arlington cemetery is visible. There is no charge to get in.
I love this sculpture so much! The memorial is great to visit and very easy to park at, sure, and they have lovely events, but the real joy is seeing this as a part of the landscape every day. Beautiful!
Nice place to have picnic
Loved it! Great memorial to our Air Force. I even had time to read the marquis. Well worth the walk through. The three spires are very impressive.
The fact that they dont allow dogs is stupid.
Beautiful memorial commending those who served in the Air Force. Open during govt shutdown but restroom facilities are clised.
Good place to spend evenings after work
Awesome place to visit
I felt, someone close to me, like a presence, guiding me through! If thats what you are meant to feel. Sad really!
Magnificent. So symmetrical and towering. The sun setting on it makes it shine like no other. Mark it on your map and visit, you will be glad you did.
This memorial is right by Arlington Cemetery and honors Air Force. Nice tribute. Quick visit to stop in and visit. Not very crowded.
This is a very underappreciated memorial in my opinion because when I came to visit, there was no one there. It is a nice little stop with decent parking on site, and a good view of the Potomac River and D.C. There are some nice plaques that talk about the sacrifices made by those who served in the Air Force and some decent views of Arlington National cemetery nearby. Definitely would recommend if you wanna kill some time before moving on to another site.
Located on a hill top so it has a really nice view to the Pentagon and Pentagon city. Ample parking space and the monument itself it’s magnificent.
My fiancé proposed to me here. This place has a special place in my heart ️It overlooks DC and is pretty quiet. Romantic place to walk to at night.
Very beautiful design.
Want to see all of DC from a beautiful vantage point, come here
Very cool memorial. Is very clean and well-taken care of. It has great views of Washington D.C. and some of the surrounding memorials/museums in the area.
A beautiful memorial with incredible veiws of both DC and a little glimpse of Arlinton Memorial Cemetery. Not very crowded, and one of the nicest restrooms of any of the memorials Ive been to. Lol.
Beautiful monument!! Simple but significative!!!
A magnificent tribute to the brave men and women who guard our skies!
One of the best view in Arlington, VA of Washington DC.
Beautiful view! Extremely meaningful place! Very wonderful place to take kids. Absolutely splendid place to your, I highly recommend it!
A small, but well looked after memorial. Surrounded by the National Cemetery, and overlooking the pentagon, its a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the soldiers of the USAF
Incredible spot. At first glance, it may not appear to be too much, but do some research ahead and understand the memorial; it’s fantastic. Visited at sunset and was absolutely beautiful.
Very beautiful monument and the views are amazing
Absolutely breathtaking facility honoring heroes of the air force.
This is a very beautiful memorial for the Air Force! The architecture is very unique and the place looks very nice.
20 trips to DC, but this was my first trip to USAFM. In addition to the memorial itself, the location offers a nice view of the city.
A great memorial. Stop by and enjoy.
Such a beautiful memorial. Probably one of my favorites
Beautiful memorial. You dont walk far to see this one and it shates with you the philosophy of the Air Force in a pwerful way. The view of Washington DC from here is beautiful as well.
Amazing view of the city and Arlington national memorial to the left, ample parking, and not too many people. Nice quiet place
It’s a very nice monument
A beautiful memorial! Rp
Nice little memorial. sad that the gift shop is permanently close.
Great memorial for the Air Force that has some good views of the D.C. area. You can see the Pentagon, the Washington Monument and the Capital Building from here.
Superb memorial to our Air Force heroes. Very beautiful with a great view across the city.
I always enjoy showing people these memorials and Im making sure that they read what the presidents have written and read about courage honor sacrifice and the words of people who served our country its a very nice and
Some how still a hidden gem. I love walking around here. Its peaceful. The view of the district is amazing as well
I love this monument. It has the best view of DC. Plus, its just a beautiful tribute to Air Force men and women.
Awesome memorial with a view. The view is spectacular looking up into the sky, out over the pentagon, towards DC ir just look at our nations cemetery, Arlington National. The memorial has a peacful feel to it as the see through glass on one of the walls that shows planes in the sky.
A very solemn occasion! A fitting memorial beautifully constructed for the air warriors!
Beautiful high rising spires and simulated plane. Trails.
Beautiful view ofer the city!
For those who dont get the chance to tour inside Pentagon, it is the best free place to take the picture of Pentagon. The other the best place is the top floor restaurant at Hilton
Beautiful spot overlooking the capital with a humbling reverence.
Excellent place to be on 4th of July, close to parking lots and last 4th we had the US Air Force band. It was great to be there.
Nice to have a quick stop and take pics. Parking and not too crowded and the memorial itself is amazing!
Beautiful ! Looks like jets flying formation. My Dad (retired USAF & buried at Arlington National Cemetery) would have loved it.
Magnificent memorial!
A must see. More impressive than it looks from a distance. Easy parking.
This is a great last place to visit for the day. The memorial is great, but whats really impressive is the view you get from here since it is built on top of a hill. You can see the Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln memorials, the pentagon, the Kennedy center, the Capitol, part of Arlington Cemetery and more if you look hard. It has the best view of D.C in my opinion. The only down side is that you need a car to get there, or a 20-30 min walk one way from Pentagon City Metro. Never had issues with parking this far.
Beautiful infrastructure. Standing right next to it is just incredible. Great memorial.
Great place to see and learn some history!
This was a really cool memorial. A visually stunning representation of the missing man formation can be appreciated both up close and from afar. It has great views from a top a hill looking out towards the heart of DC
What a beautiful and moving memorial. I was so excited to visit here on my recent trip to D.C. as my grandfather was a part of the Air Force during Vietnam and Korea. Definitely worth a visit when youre in the area.
When are they going to finish the Air Force Memorial? They forgot to put the golf ball in the tee!!! :)Great monument that you can see from all over. Each spire is a different height so you never have the same view through out the area. Symbolizes the afterburner trail from an aircraft exhauste.
Amazing memorial. Plus has nice restrooms
This a small but really thought provoking memorial . The four statues are really good three. men and one woman service personnel .Glad our tour guide took us. The 3 spires are beautiful and fitting for this air force memorial.
Beyond words. A must see in DC.
Very neat place good history and very deserving for the United States Air Force
Troy, Illinois 8th Grade visit to honor Bradley R Smith. Moving & Amazing
Beautiful place to recall those who have passed before
Lovely place. Reminds you of the harsh times. Nice view overlooking the pentagon
Its fantastic and fun I suggest you go to the vr place.
These colors don’t run. Sacred ground. Personal tribute. Family strong legacy. Moving design. Subtle weave of humanity by design, by water flow, by bench flow, by gravel and tree height and natural vs electrical light flow. Direction. Facing matters. Inside matters: in plane or in building. DOBirth matters. Wall height signifies. Warm shared hearts above and below matter. Lovely humans, lively families and daily guardians. Nurses, officers, lawyers, barber-golfers. Great grand-grands and tired toddlers. Lovers, mourners, fliers and desk jockeys. Great Americans. Servant leaders. All ages. All present and accounted for. Super-helpful to each other and to moi, the son and nephew of WWII US Army Vets. Hospitality not hostility. Unconditional soulmates. Neighborly to a fault. Narcissism: neither speck nor specter. Legacy. Patriot Whisperers. Come commune with gallant ghosts. Then share your story and sigh. Full stop
Beautiful place. You can feel the patriotism.
What a view, overlooking DC and the Pentagon. Walking these hallowed grounds and reading the inscriptions was awesome. Being retired there by the CSAF was an amazing experience.
Escorted Veterans to the Air Force Memorial on this trip. Lots of fun and history shared. I enjoy talking with groups and explaining the site and the skyline.
I mean its a memorial, not much to say besides its a nice place. It has a great view and its nice to see many names of those who served
