Very well done! Moved me to tears. The only exhibit right now is in the alley where the attacks started, the story told in a very clear timeline with fantastic pictures. Read every word! There may be more to come inside the old bus station, but so far, its empty. Anniston itself also has some really beautiful architecture as well.
Looking forward to seeing this part of American history highlighted even more. The plaques were informative. It would be a great place to take students.
Today I stood on Gurnee Street at the Anniston, Aabama Freedom Riders marker and listened to a recording, from a little speaker that looked like a parking meter, of one of the seven riders tell how their bus was attacked there by a mob. Im so impressed by the public acknowledgments of what happened. Wow.
This is a great memorial to honor Good Trouble. I was glad that I was able to share this place with my daughter because it goes to show that as citizens of this country it is our job to right the wrongs when we see them, and to continue to fight for equality.
Interesting....just wish wed have known the Natl park passport stamp was in a different lication....we missed getting it due to timing.
Awesome historical landmark entailing a very dark day for those brave people on that bus many decades ago. So glad to see that times for the state of Alabama have changed and improved so much since that fateful day in 1961.
Its just a plaque on a narrow strip of grass that I actually just drove by but I think its good to have the history noted. But if people would just turn to Jesus and be serious about it not his lip service all that evil wouldnt exist.
Eye opening
Something everyone should see or know, and never forget.
Really wish theyd build the park. Still not built.
We inaugurated this site with the Freedom March. The site construction hasnt been finished.
