We we not sure what to think traveling in from Ohio. The parking is scarce but we managed. The river was awesome, we had 22 cousins meet up and enjoyed every minute. Some jumped off the railroad bridge others watched. The smallrapids made it fun in the beginning and then after that it was an enjoyable float. Some of us had a kayak but most of us were in tubes . I recommend it, we had a blast!
Easy access to lake, plenty of parking. Its quiet. Can be busy in the summer. Nice picnic shelter. It could use a major upgrade, by adding more shoreline for swimming area, or adding more benches and tables.
Very nice wooded trails on both sides of the river (one dirt and rough, one paved). A few docks along the wear bank and a few canoe/kayak put in on the east side, as well as the Argo Canoe Livery for rentals. Cross at the dam to the south and the pedestrian bridge to the north for a great ~45 minutes loop.
Good place for kayak or tubing. The rapid makes it really fun for both. As this part of Huron river, the current makes it easy to float on tubing and easy to paddle on the kayak. The water looks clean but not recommended for swimming. Definitely recommended.
Perfect park! Free parking, bathrooms, changing rooms, free air machine for pumping up inflatables, amazing hiking and biking trails that go for MILES. Great for sunsets, hiking, biking, kayaking, tubing, nature identifying, fishing, and picnics.
Easy parking, easy entry. Great place in Ann Arbor to get in some water time.
For all outdoor activities, this place is really nice. It pretty much facilitates everything from hiking, bicycling, canoeing and Kayaking (rentals and BYO), tubing, paddle boating, fishing and has plenty of nice playgrounds for kids with lots of parking spread all around the entire park.
You can walk, ride and canoe/kayak in a very beautiful area
If you have the chance and the weather is nice bring your family and kids to Argo Park and do some tubing. Im sure youll have a good time.
This a great place to take your family tubing or swimming, you can do an approximately 1 and a half hour float from argo to gallop Park. They rent kayaks and canoes and teach you how to use them.
Nice, easy access, parking. Good boat launch area.
What a fun and relaxing way to spend a hot summer day. It was wonderful!
Night or day this river is fun. It is busy during the weekend but not too bad, we found parking after waiting a minute or two. We took our own tubes and did the whole thing down to furtensburg park where we left our second car. Only wish there was transportation but ehh taking two cars is simple enough. Or just do the Cascades and take one car
Lots of fun on the river, though probably one of A2s most crowded parks in the summer.
Beautiful just beautiful. . . It was right in my back yard and I had no clue so happy my friend told me about it
Amazing place for riding the river. Bathroom close and parking is okay unless youre on a busy day.
Always a good time here walking or kayaking surrounded by nature and getting to enjoy a sunny evening is always a treat lately with mother nature not agreeing with us here in Michigan lol took my friend who has never been and he enjoyed walking around seeing the geese and birds so next visit he wants to kayak the cascades with me Ive been many times and even went backwards one time since my friends said I wouldnt lol
Awesome for hanging with friends or tubing with the kids! PACKED on Saturdays
Great place! Floating down the cascades was awesome.
So much fun. Really had a great time
Kayaked from Argo to Gallup park. Nice paddle and upper river had a series of drops through man made shoots that provided a little extra speed along the way.
One of the nicest parks in Ann Arbor, nice paved trail for Running and Biking.
Great place to swim/tube at.
So nice to walk the woods
Some younger people werent wearing masks but park wasnt too busy though and they were social distancing and small groups. The view its just wonderful
The staff was helpful. And the river was peaceful
YEAAHAHHHH went down them water bumps like a rollercoaster, babeyyy
Quiet place to walk and jog
The Argo Cascades are a lovely water feature, as well as the ornamental grasses and birds that are native to the area.
Fun spot to launch paddle boards
Great views of the river, beautiful day for it too!
We love going down the Cascades
Have to check this place out. Its a great piece of nature.
Beautiful park with a great view of huron river!
Parking sucks but its a amazing park!
Beautiful local hike.
Good social distancing and fun
Go check it out. Very nice
Went on a kayaking trip down the river here and it was pretty amazing. Beautiful sites and calm waters make for a nice day. Our trip had a couple drops of rain but not many more. We spent about 3 to 4 hours just going down the river. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely try coming back.
Been here many times. One of the best places in detroit suburbs for kayaking.
The visually impaired group I was with were helped and treated very kindly by the staff. The equipment was well cared for. There also were people along the route to help us out if we tipped over or got snagged on a rock. Plus, the scenery along the river was very beautiful.
A great day tubing!
Nice place, it needs more improvement
Beautiful scenery and tubing was a lot of fun. The staff was efficient and friendly. They took the time to answer all my questions and I appreciated it.
Loved this place canoe kayak and enjoy the out doors
Had a Blast! Something to do with family and friends or alone. Great experience. Children friendly. Affordable
Nice place for walking or running.
Argo Park is great! There are a ton of trails and sites to see, you can definitely spend the better part of a day here exploring. Typically I come for the canoe rentals at the livery, but the park itself is definitely worth checking out as well.
Parking is a minimum!! Great little place! Bring your own tube if you want to go further down the river.
I like going here on weekdays because you can take your own tube for free if youre taking two cars, or if youre going by yourself and need a way to get back to the park, you can rent a kayak and take the shuttle back. I went from Argo to Gallup on a Sunday once and it was WAY TOO CROWDED, but when I went on a Monday it was really nice.
Limited parking on weekends due to oversized crowds. Nice views of the river and nice trails (paved or dirt). The Cascades are the big draw and a lot of fun on a time on a hot day, but not for those that dont like crowds. Go upstream for a more peaceful experience.
Awesome little float down you can do over and over or just stay and play in one of the many little alcoves. It even started rsining a bit but it was still so lovely to be just floating and swimming around. Just keeo swimming, swimming ...
Such a nice place, huge walking path with plenty of room even on a busy day when everyone comes to swim and tube. Very clean, its also a great place to come by in the evening -- it quiets down and is a great way to enjoy the sunset
Best for bird watching
It was definitely an unforgettable experience!! (Lol) It was my first time kayaking and my kayak hit a rock going through the rapids, we tipped over, fell into the water, I almost drowned! (in my mind-I did..just bc I dont know how to swim) But once I got the hang & feel of it all, it was so much fun! We had a picnic, listened to music, ate, danced then headed back into the water. Nice place, nice staff, I would go back again! *thumbs up*
Rapids are great.
Would be nice to have more garbage bins so they dont overflow and drift in the wind.
Beautiful area.
Great place to grab a canoe and explore around or simply walk/job through the river paths... mostly clean and maintained, suitable for young kids but not strollers. Seasonal restrooms and changing areas, crowded and insufficient in peak season. Nice spots for pictures in the cascades. Parking during summer is challenging since is a key spot for going downriver to Gallup Park. As a contrast, biking there is easier and offer better views. If you are going to visit this place please take your trash with you and drop it in the bins located besides the rental office.
This is such a unique place to get in the water and float on your tube. Be careful on busy days when the kayaks are also going down the falls... It can get a little crowded.
The Huron river is the best river experience in south-east Michigan and Argo Park is a great place to access and enjoy it. Enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of nature while having the convenience and ammenities of being in the city of Ann Arbor.Argo pond offers 2 miles of river between dams with a gentle current and is an ideal spot for new paddlers to learn and enjoy some paddle sports and also for more advanced paddlers to get in a quick workout without having to go further north into Milford. If you are new to the area, add this place to your to-do list this summer.
Beautiful Park will be visiting soon
Always a fun time here
A serene walk through nature. Enhanced by the sparkling fire flies at dusk. Very therapeutic@
Great place to stand and take in The view.
Easy access to the buildings to see the animals up close. Love this place.
Kayaking is great, we put in at Argo and went upstream about half the distance to Barton Dam (45 minutes) then back. You can also put in at Bandemer
Used to be way better when feces and sewage didnt prevail..
Really cool time. Perfect weather. A little crowded but not too bad. Lots of wilflife. Swans, ducks, geese....ect. About half family oriented half party atmosphere. No girls gone wild or anything so its cool to bring the kids. I will go again.
Fun with friends and family. Bring a tube and float down the cascades. Or bring food to cook on public grills. Could be busy though, so plan ahead or come early.
Great price. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Both kayaking paths are beautiful! Great for beginners!
Tubing was fun. Water is fresh and the lake is very relaxing
Great place to kayak. Can sometimes get busy quickly, but the water is big enough for all of us.
Love the service and scenery
Great place for kayaking or tubing, but be prepared to park a long way off during busy summer weekends. If you have your own boats you may want to park at Bandemer instead.
Youll be super glad you stumbled upon this hidden lil gem, as we where! Tubing part of river isnt very long but its fun! We went down multiple times in the 2 1/2 hours! Oh parking, parking is limited at the park and near the park so best bet is to just start out your day by following the signs to parking in the Argo park overflow and walk over!
Excellent place
This is one of my favorite parks in Ann Arbor. I have many fond memories here of hanging out with my friends and going for a walks and the bike rides. It is a relaxing place to hang out and an excellent place to be during the sunset in summer time. I like to watch the water flow down the Cascades
Theres a lot to do here. You can picnic, watch ducks, walk, bike or play in the water! Bring your own small craft, or you can rent canoes, rowboats or paddleboats.
Beautiful place to kayak!
We came to rent a kayak and we had not only a great time but really good service. They really made out first kayaking experience great.
Nice hiking trails along the Huron river.
