Fabulous trip, whether you are hiking, running, or cross country skiing. 4.25 miles from the parking area to the lake. Gradual, gentle uphill for most of the way outbound. Good for a cold dip in the summer/fall and great for a ski that is in the sunshine the entire way in late February or March. One of my favorite places to get outside for some casual yet beautiful exercise.
Great easy easy hike
Wonderful hike! Backpacked it one day in one day out. Roughly 4.25 miles from the canyon road trailhead. Slight incline till about the last mile it begins to level out. May 20/2019, still snow so bring boots, you can advoid most of it but expect to trudge through some knee high snow. Lake is still frozen. Theres some nice dry ground to camp or just have a picnic on at the end looking out over the lake and peaks. Views were great, cut a terrific sunset over Anchorage and got to see sunlight poking out over the peaks just as it began setting at the other end too! Overall great hike, great for a small backpacking trip or a day hike.
