A beautiful tranquil walk through a bog and around a kettle hole pond much of which is on planks to keep you from sinking in the deceivingly wet bog below. Lots of interesting plants, and birds. Well maintained trails. Went in early December, but will return in the spring to see changes.
Relaxing journey through carniverous flora. Some of boards uneasy. Saw some geese on pound. Have to back out if people come your way for social distancing. I think an earlier trip wiuld of brought mire animals out. We saw chipmunk, geese, and carniverous flowersHeard frog, crickets, and birds. Not a long hike. Could of used more of challenge.
One of my favorite places to take a stroll if I want quiet and peaceful nature sounds. There is a platform where you can overlook the receding bog and this time up here the fall foliage is beautiful. You need to be able to walk on the boardwalks so that you dont disturb the bog. We were delighted with the sound of Canadian geese the insect eating pitcher plants and the delightful
Cute wildlife sancturary bog located right off 101A. It has a .75 miles one way loop trail, most of which is a boardwalk made of planks. Overall fairly well maintained, but there is some uneven ground so it wouldnt be ideal for running. Lots of benches to stop at and potential to see wildlife. Very family friendly!
Peaceful place. Great to walk out to one of four lookouts. Last time I was there I was able to see a few dozen geese on their way south. Colors were just starting to change.
Ive driven by this a million times and never stopped. So glad we did today! Its a beautiful bog with well maintained walkways. Quick trip too, perfect with non-toddler kids because its quick and theyre past the tripping/taking off the board walk age.
Beautiful, easy walk. Plants and trees different from the rest of New Hampshire including carnivorous pitcher plants. Lots of observation decks. Nicely maintained walking planks, although a few wobbly. I am glad I discovered this gem.
Excellent place for a nice walk through a big. Expect water and bugs, but the boardwalks are great and it is very scenic.
Nice walking with your friends, or nice place or view taking picture with yourlove ones.
Beautiful location for a short nature hike. The board walk is kid friendly, provided they are independent enough to handle following directions to move slowly, as you would not be able to hold hands with a little one.Periodically benches and observation platforms are available, should you need a break or simply to enjoy the habitat. We went at the end of December and saw very little wild life, but we are planning regular visits in the coming year to observe the bog come to life.
A very nice boardwalk trail with a good variety of migrating birds.
One of our favorite walks over the years. 6000 year old kettle hole that had been slowly filling in with plant material. Most of the way is on a two plank boardwalk with three viewing platforms right next to the pond and an overlook platform further away. No dogs allowed due to the sensitive nature of the environment. Managed by NH Audubon with a clean up day usually in April and scheduled walks in the summer.
Beautiful bog, scenic all year round.
Beautiful and peaceful!
Well maintained trails. Peaceful pretty educational area. I am only rating a 4 this time because someone left gross trash there in the parking area. A real shame.
.75 mile short unique walk through the bog on a wood board trail. Decent parking area. Great for kids.
Beautiful flowers and a good, walk. It is a bog so be careful with children.
Amazing walk with the family. Make sure you stay on the boards
Beautiful place to hang out
Fun walk around the bog, easy walk on well-kept wood pathway.
Great easy walk even with children. Well maintained! We took a visit midday to explore and it was not too busy. It only gets a little tricky trying to pass people in groups (esp with children on the boards). Other than that, everything is wonderful! The trail and the veiwing decks are barely noticeable in the grand view of everything. Very nicely done. We look forward to coming back in a few weeks when the leaves begin to change colors.
Cool walking bog with wood plank path. Lots of places to sit down and tons of wild blueberries. Saw a rabbit and some frogs and chipmunks. Can be wet and slippery in the wet season or when it rains.
Absolutely wonderful nature reserve. Abundance of diverse and interesting bird, plant and aquatic life. And some of the best wild blueberry picking in New England.
Very cool bog plants and boardwalk
Somebody is moving planks to get access to the water.i put them back on the boardwalk sorry If this was Intentionally done as I I did your work.
I have come here for years.A very interesting habitat, the wooded trail gives way to a very narrow boardwalk. DO NOT STEP OFF!! I slipped once and one leg went into the bog. It went all the way down!A wonderful place for Warblers and other song birds.
Nice walk to get away and clear ones mind.
Oops I brought my dog, but she loved it.
Very cool place, quiet with blue berries. Id never heard of it before, but it has some really awesome views!
So beautiful. Going to go every season
A cool little ecosystem. Its mostly a rudimentary wooden boardwalks made with 2x10(?) planks, negotiable, carefully.
Beautiful unique natural environment. The boardwalk had many areas under water yesterday. It is better to visit in the warmer weather months.
No pets. Kid and (spry) Elder friendly. Each season has its own appeal. Flat terrain boardwalks. Sitting decks dotted along the trail for picture perfect moments. You always see something different with each visit.
Short walk, but very nice. A couple of overlooks with seating and a few picnic tables.
So charming
Unique..needs to be protected as it is.Tom Young a great guide to this wonderful place.
Beautiful bog with a short boardwalk trail.
I always enjoy a walk on the bog! So many blueberries!
Most pitcher plants Ive ever seen. Nice long board walk with viewing areas and benches but too narrow for handicapped.
Fantastic 40 min walk, we did a mid day walk in the sun its pretty hot, not to many places to be in the shade once you get going. A few places to rest. We saw tons of dragonflies, some ducks & geese, and no other humans till we hit the exit, and Im not sure how we missed them lol. No dogs allowed and two picnic tables to have a snack at before or after the walk.
Great walking place
Great place to go for some peace and quiet
Very short, pleasant boardwalk loop through a bog. Posted not for dog walking, and it is essential everyone stays on the walkways.
Very interesting plants, birds, and insects. Easy, level walking on boardwalk. There are carnivorous plants there. Stay on the boardwalk if you dont want to be eaten!
Trails are still underwater right now and nothing is blooming yet. Should be perfect on a few more weeks.
Lovely
Just took a walk today with my daughter-in-law and Grandson. Great walk through the marsh! Didnt see too much wildlife but saw some different wildflowers. Wonderful walk! Just long enough!
Hidden gem. Take your time and walk slowly. We saw rabbits and deer. Great place to just gather your thoughts.
Short loop suitable for kids and adults alike. Wonderful opportunities for viewing this unique habitat.
Great place to bring the kids!
A truly special and magical place. Easy walk with amazing fauna and wildlife
Great spot for an easy and short hike. Several spots to bird watch and take your lunch for a quiet reprieve from daily life.
This is a great place for an easy walk, and it has a great view!
Very nice location, clean, respected and quite. It allows you to enjoy the natural surroundings at the fullest
Astounding nature preserve! Stay on the board walk!
Nothing there but quiet and nature
Beautiful little board walk. Where you can see lots of flora and fauna. Take a walk today!
Gets wet!! Otherwise its a short pretty walk

Beautiful Owl was out!!!
Great loop trail on mostly boardwalk through the bog.Great year-round for plant and bird viewing.
Fun. watch for ticks.
This is like a natural shrine to real Ecology.
Great short walk
Love this place
Keep this a secret
Bird watchers paradise!!!
Beautiful trails
Its beautiful
This time of year, late October, the leaves are turning and the geese and ducks are using the lake as a rest stop on their migration.
No dogs allowed
A very nice location to get away from the everyday issues and get close to nature. The trails are well maintained. It was nice to see that people had respected nature and we didnt see any trash left behind. Since we went at the beginning of December, well have to go back and see if we can see when the heron are nesting and beavers are more active. A nice relaxing walk. Much appreciated.
