Great tour, lots of local history associated with the house. The house, families and surrounding buildings, are responsible for inspiring the TV show Mercy Street from PBS. Its a must see if youre in Alexandria!
I really enjoyed the tour and seeing some history of Alexandria. Robert E. Lees boyhood home is just across the street. George Washington and Woodrow Wilson were guests at the Lee-Fendall House. You get to go through time as you tour the different rooms and get a sense of how things changed throughout history.Would definitely recommend. It does cost $5 but I think its worth it.
Fans of history will like to visit hear i loved it
Love their events for kids! Weve done Christmas twice and the Halloween pumpkin hunt. Nice way to introduce my preschooler to history while having fun.
Cool crafts at the Christmas event.
Lovely historic architecture here in a distinctly Federal style common in the region, worth a drive by or a visit if you appreciate this sort of thing. The city of Alexandria itself has been overrun with something Federal, although of a completely different definition than Federal architecture - the DC yuppie, participating in my nations sort of postmodern corporate industrial complex for big salaries and egos. Parking is difficult to find. Overall, as a damn Yankee I enjoyed my stop here.
Lots of layered history there. Way more than the Lees. One of the last owners basically started the AFL-CIO. Very knowledgeable guide. I believe her name was Jill. She was great!
Lots of history and wonderful architecture. At one point the house WAS the edge of the town - buildings on one side and forest on the other. When I was there, so many years ago with my mom, the staff on duty was friendly and KNEW his history.
I wouldnt pay $5 to visit, but I went for free via the Keys to the City pass (available from Alexandria Tourism Office, with a WMATA card).
Really fun banter at Trivia Night!
Lots of history in this house.
Did a walking tour with the visit. House is small
Great story...only downfall is that the whole house wasnt shown to us.
Good ghost tour
Interesting place but not my favorite of the Alexandria museums.
Such a lovely place to visit
Great guided tour. Very interesting historical home
Interesting place.
Beautiful place in the middle of Arlington. It needs restoration.
A great tour of an historic home.
Looks good from the outside
This land was owned by Robert E. Lees family, but another relative built the house. Lee never lived here.
Good guide and very interesting history
Very interesting
Call ahead to make sure they are open. It is not a normal operating hours place.
Great. Must visit
Awesome experience
