Was doing a Dia de Las Muertas photo shoot there. Someone from the church came out. They were more than cordial and welcomed us to the area.
The oldest church in Albuquerque...or should I say, the first church built in the Albuquerque.Considering the fact that the New Mexico and Albuquerque was originally spanish colony, the town was built by spanish settler therefore the church is spanish style instead of Gothic or Romanesque style.Consequently, you wont find any Stained Glass or big pipe organ.Instead you will find typical mexican style catholic figurines and status. It is small and appearance is a typical church you will find in Mexico.Still, I recommend to visit the church if you visit Albuquerque because I personally think this is few of the spanic feathers you will find in Albuquerque because so far my impression of Albuquerque is more of land of native american instead of old spanish colony.
A quick and nice walk around the old plaza.
L went about 7:50 AM on a Wednesday. the door was locked but about 10 ppl came out of the church. Priest came out and said they were closed for cleaning. After asking multiple questions he said they might open at 9 AM. I waited at the park area and watched about 20 ppl go in when I had been told they were closed.Maybe I’m not the right color.
Ive been a member of the parish at San Felipe de Neri church since 2009. Ive gone to many of the Catholic Churches in town and this is my favorite. I love the history of the church, some of the other churches are a bit too modern for my tastes. The pastoral staff are very nice and friendly and have been there to support my family when we have needed them. There are also a lot of fun activities throughout the year like several fiestas and other events during the holidays that the church organizes.
Beautiful chirch in the heart of Albuquerque. Lots of options for mass services. Also have mass in Spanish.
Beautiful historic church, pictures do no justice. Plaza full of food, street vendors, galleries of handmade art and pottery and souvenirs.
Down in Old Town so pretty at night too.
Absolutely beautiful! Very humbling experience!
San Felipe de Neri is a beautiful Catholic church located in the heart of Old Town Albuquerque. I would recommend anyone who travels to Albuquerque to check out Old Town. As for mass be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early to get a good seat within the main Church. Otherwise you will be sitting in the chapel it auxiliary wing.
Love it. Really nice. The museum is a must see.
It is great, a piece of New Mexicos history and a beautiful catholic church.
Nice church in the heart of New Mexico
Great piece of history. Love the architecture
Absolutely beautiful. When you walk into this historic place of worship you get a sense of culture. You can smell the incense and myrrh and almost here the ohm of the priest. Are regardless of religious affiliation, youll enjoy this absolutely beautiful place of worship.
Peaceful. Wife and I just sat, silently prayed. Great...all was awesome.
A beautiful place to be in the presence of God.
Beautifully Roman Catholic Church in the heart of old town Albuquerque. Be sure to check it out when visiting the town square.
Beautiful church, a must see. One of the oldest Catholic churches in North America
A must see if you are a person of faith.
Beautiful, historic adobe church in the heart of old town Albuquerque
I visited this historical beauty about 4 years ago and was stunned by its stillness and the holy atmosphere. However, since then there has been an obnoxious recording that plays explaining the history of the church. This severely reduced the sacred feel of the church. Please, please reconsider the speakers and audio message. It eliminates the feeling of authenticity and holiness.
Beautiful Church. Left my Saints ball cap. Took it off out of reverence and forgot it. I guess being a Saints cap it belonged in the Church. The architecture is stunning.
You cant beat it. Great old Catholic Church. I love the style of the place. The present building dates to 1793.
What a fantastic little place take your time and walk around to absorb it all
Beautiful old church! Visit here if you can, and worship!
Amazing place and gift shop!
Never get tired of such a BEAUTIFUL SPIRITUAL LANDMARK, surrounded by great businesses and entertainment.
Father Andy is the most amazing person ive ever met in my life. So kind and knowledgeable in the history of the parish!
It looks just like it did 20 years ago. Really nice inside quiet, peaceful and landscape is nice as well. A must see attraction
Beautiful, historic catholic church. Original hand carved saints, stations of the cross & reliquary. Ask for candles at the gift shop, use them in the sanctuary center. Regular services throughout the week
Very nice spot to stop and take a little break with lots of little shops with food and or souvenirs or art available. Lots of trees in the Central Square 2 just sit with your family and or girlfriend/wife and enjoy one of the local eateries
Lovely little church. Beautiful gardens with unusual flowers. Unusual artifacts including lifesize Christ figure lying in the tomb at the front altar, old, painted stations of the cross, comfortable, old pews, lifesize saints depicted behind the altar. There also was an audio tour of the church that one could sit and quietly listen to. Nice experience.
It is such a beautiful church. And once done praying there is the Old Town chill atmosphere to have a good time.
So sad that I couldnt go to church.
Very beautiful building if you get a chance to see it I would do so
Beautiful Quaint Church. Historic Gem in the middle of Old Town Albuquerque
Lovely, timeless, serene, and historical. This place is really something else if you go in with a open mind, heart, and soul. You will feel the peace just pour into you.
Beutiful old catholic church and very well maintained. Great place to visit in Old Town.
I never went in, its down the street from my house and I walk past it regularly. Its mostly just a tourist trap line the rest of Old Town.
Beautiful historic church right in Old Town Albuquerque with an excellent gift shop. I wish I had had more time here to spend more time in the church.
A lovely historic church. I was in town for a week’s conference, and would agree with another reviewer that the well-meaning recording was a distraction to prayer during the several visits I tried.
Very nice Catholic church next to the Albuquerque Old Town Plaza. The architecture has a definite southwest flair with a comforting and inviting interior.
Excellent place to worship. Friendly people. The Altar is decorated awesome. You have to see it to appreciate it. God Bless All
Beautiful church. Great store next door.
Nice church. Went to the fiesta there & enjoyed the music & entertainment.
While I didnt have a religious motivation for my visit, I found it interesting with nice docents, a cute gift shop, and a well maintained and authentic courtyard with lots of original areas of construction still preserved and visible. It was a peaceful visit with lots of fascinating history and artifacts from modern history. The plaza across the street is relevant with lots of shade to rest and view. The news articles and letters of their saint were interesting and recent--what a great woman overall. I was bummed that the main part of the church was under restoration when I went, 10 July 2018, so Ill just have to come back someday... Free entrance...just go see it!
Always like to visit places of worship when I travel. So much history at this parish. It was really great that a volunteer was onsite answering questions and proving insight. Absolutely loved the gift shop.
Pretty exterior. Plain inside. Nice staff in gift shop that sells some well priced mementos.
I didnt go in or anything, but I like going to Old Town. Its architecturally interesting and useful as a painting subject.
Even if you are not religious, come in, quiet your thoughts and enjoy the prescence of this historic Church.
Its in Old Town. I going to Old Town
A spectacular old style Spanish adobe.church. parking avail on side streets. This is a working church, not a tourist attraction.

One of old New Mexicos Spanish European Conquest, beginning in the 1500s, San Felipe de Neri. Beautiful.
One of the oldest Catholic Churches in New Mexico
Had a interesting tree with rosary beads and a very interesting staircase.
Calm, soothing and perfect for your prayers alongside your vacation. The area around also made the environment soothing at that time, and we sure were happy that we spent our time here. The locals said that its a pretty nice place for attending mass. I will say the details arent as complex as other nice churches in New Mexico, but what captivates is the preservation of this church. Alongside it as well is a gift shop that was your pretty regular Christian gift shop with some merchandise personalized of the sight.
Peaceful historic church which is still being used for worship...
This weekend (June 7-9) is the Fiestas for San Felipe church its a beautiful and relaxed setting to enjoy with family and friends
Such a touching funeral service for my Mom!
Beautiful piano concert in a quiet and reverent space
Beautiful, well preserved Historical church in Old Town Albuquerque. Smallish gift shop inside.
Old Town is always on my map of To Do.
Amazing very impressed everyone should go if they have a chance
Beautiful old church. Visited when playing in the Womens Senior Olympic games.
I went into this church on Mother’s Day with my little service dog. I was sitting there in about the 6th row saying my prayers. A parishioner across from me on the other side turned and stared me down with the meanest intimidating stare. He then ran to the priest and they both approached me and ordered me to leave immediately. It was harsh and cruel. I’ll never step foot in there again.
Fantastic historical treasure. If visting Albuquerque it is definitely something youd want to see.
My home Parrish. Warm and inviting. The community is outstanding! I love it here!
This is one of the oldest missions! Not so grandiose as some are but beautiful in its simplicity!
Historic, though nothing much that sets it apart from others of the area. Important interest that all history should be preserved to understand how we got to where we are today and where were going tomorrow.
Beautiiful church. Lots of history. Very hot though. Take a handfan
Stopped by this Mothers day to say a prayer for my Mom. Love this quaint, old lovely Catholic church!!!
A place of calm in the middle if a tourist mob. There were three tour buses full of people scrambling to buy souvenirs and a whole crew of electricians laying wiring for a film crew to use the next day. I went into the church and the quiet and calm were immediate. Ten minutes re-energized me .
Beautiful old church. Something all visitors to Albuquerque should see!
Beautiful Church, if ever you are in the area please visit.
Very well preserved church. Please be respectful, this is a house of worship.
Of the oldest churches in America, San Felipe Dr Meri church is an historically beautiful Church. Come visit!
Beautiful. One of the most memorable Masses weve ever been too.
This church is really beautiful. It is in the plaza square which makes it the peoples church
Beautiful church right in the middle of town. Amazing.
Greak fest fun and food, dancing joy. Parking lot surface rough, folks tripping, falling, UGH!
VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!Whoever have the place a one star review is not a person who prays to the almighty one above, if you catch my drift! I found that church to be one of the most beautiful places Ive ever had the pleasure to see. I was literally overcome with a sense of awe and I felt beauty for the first time in a while.
Amazing grounds took my breath away
Beautiful, historic site all must see.
Tour of Sister Blandinas once living quarters by Steve was great.
7:00 am mass, Monday thru Friday. The best way to start everyday.
If youre into history go here. Not much to look at inside if there is something going on
Very clean and up kept, for sure a spot to stop and view if your visiting, and make sure you ask about the older church down the road
Great music and fun dancing. Fiestas going on.
