Good food, both from the Rock Wall food window and from food trucks they park out front. Large wine selection by the glass, and you can buy bottles to go. Plus, a nice view of the bay and you can stroll down the street and go to two breweries and two distilleries for tastings too!

You dont have to travel far to find a great winery in the middle of the Bay Area. Situated in Alameda, Rock Wall Wine Company offers great wines and views of San Francisco. Plus, you can enjoy some delicious food from Scolaris on the side. Theres plenty of places to sit outside and inside under a tented dome. And theres plenty of parking, too.

The wine is tasty and the food is absolutely delectable! I had the salmon goat cheese pizza with the Parmesan truffle fries. The crust was so crisp. I wish this place was closer to me.(We were under the red umbrellas so the lighting is not great. I will definitely be returning to have this pizza again!)

We attended an annual event here last weekend and I’d have to say this was by far the most disappointing one weve ever had. As someone who has worked in the event planning space for years, this had to be the most sub par service I’ve ever seen for such a pricey per person cost. The bartenders were rude, the food served was cold, underwhelming, and ran out quickly, there was no water service at the table, they ran out of beer & their very below average wine well before the event ended. The atmosphere can best be described as a warehouse with some barrels and string lights thrown up. Don’t let the photos on their gallery/website mislead you. There was no effort put into lighting or decor, at least not for this particular event. Our entire group of 160 patrons were thoroughly disappointed and felt that we did not receive the experience that was promised. The price point definitely did not match the service. I would not recommend for large, group events, especially if you prefer a formal atmosphere.

We had our wedding at Rock Wall in September and it turned out to be far better than we expected. Working with the event coordinator Genevieve was an absolute dream, she was very accommodating and was transparent throughout the whole process. On the day of all the staff was incredibly nice and friendly and the bar manager Phaedra was so lovely! We got so many compliments about the venue and how beautiful everything was. I hope to never get married again but if I do, this will be the place to host it.The only knock I would say is that they have a HARD stop at midnight. When the lights came on at 12 we were very abruptly and forcefully asked to leave the premise which left everyone scrambling to grab their things at the end. So I would recommend ending 15-20 mins early so you dont have people literally yelling in your ear to get the heck out.But those views more than made up for everything...thank you Rock Wall!

The wines they served were not good. For example, the zinfandel did not have any spice and the chardonnay was like water. Im surprised this place has such good reviews.I would not recommend them for a celebration. We booked with them for three hours, but they stopped serving our party an hour into the event. When we asked the manager, they said that they could not serve alcohol after a certain time. It seems dishonest for the management to take your money for three hours but only give you an hours worth of service. Did we get a refund? Nope.We were also told we could not have children at our event, but there were multiple children

After you pay you find out that on a week day with very few patrons hear you wait 30 minutes for a cheese plate to go with your wine. Don’t come here unless you want to pay to drink wine and not even have a cracker to go with it. Also, three hunks of cheese cost you $18.

Beautiful views of SF Bay and Alameda Naval strip. That being said their wine is lackluster, I thought I was clever being able to identify all of the flavors listed in their wines but realized its because the wine isnt complex and often times tastes like it was flavored with adjuncts. The tasting is worth it if you want to hang out but personally I dont think the wine is worth the price in stores. Come for the experience, not the wine.

Review from 2015: Good membershipToday: Membership terms have changed. It has gotten much more expensive, and they changed their policies around how couple memberships work. Or they changed the communication and implementation, but it is effectively the same.Location is still great (although the once-clean dome is now visibly grimey), fantastic view, great outdoor area, kid-friendly without being annoying. But the rising expense plus changed member conditions led me to cancel.

The view is cool, but the winery itself was a little confusing. There were like 10 people behind the counter with only two other people in the room that were already being helped and still no one came up to me to help. I ended up just ordering a glass of wine - I had the grenache. It was good. The food from the attached restaurant/food truck was great.

On the old Naval Base in Alameda, it is very unassuming from the outside. Get over the lack of curb appeal and step inside to a newer wine tasting room with an amazing view. You look right out right to San Francisco and the bay bridge. I have been to many wineries and this place is probably my favorite as of now. The wine is the winner here. Every taste we had was great. They all could speak for themselves while being different enough from the last. I will be going back very soon because it truly is a great place with amazing wines!!!

I like that there are different areas to socialize depending on what you want to do. If you want to stay inside you can get a table inside the dome or the tasting room. And if youre lucky and its not too windy you can lounge outside and play ladder ball or hula hoop. When we came for my birthday they were really accommodating and made it easy to bring a large group of friends. I also love that they have one of my fave spots, Scolaris right there so you can get some food to go along with your glass of wine.

First time going to a summer sip-nic and it was awesome. You really cant complain when youre being served free alcohol and food... I went with a bunch of friends and everyone had a fun time. The only downside really was the lines for some of the foods were really long....the alcohol helped with the wait time.People reading these reviews are probably reading to see how the event was so that they can attend the next one and Im pretty sure food/wine/beer changes every year so I wont go into specifics. Lets just say theres a LARGE variety of both. The entire event was well organized, clean, and had a friendly atmosphere.I would definitely recommend going if you have the opportunity.

This is a really fun place to try and buy wines from grapes grown locally. The winery ownes one vinyard and sources grapes from a few others, Napa, Contra Costa County, Sonoma to name a few. They purchase plots and have direct input on how the grapes are to be handled. They use 200 year old French Oak barrels to age their wine. Its the first time Ive experienced a dry wine that didnt completely dehydrate my mouth! All the reds, white and dessert wines we tried were impressive. Made us want barbaque and chocolates! The folks working there seem to really know and love their jobs. We got to spend a little time with the Master Wine Maker, Shauna, who was gracious in giving us a tour and some really fun facts. This could easily be a date night destination (food and drinks!), event venu (spectacular vistas) and an educational opprotunity.

We were in Alameda visiting some other venues and came across the 1st Open House for Rock Wall Winery. Went up to the desk to register - had our medium-sized dog with us. Asked if we were able to take her in with us (too hot to leave her in the car) and were given the ok. Lots of very friendly folks at the check-in. Proceeded to pay our $60.00 and went in to a very large space with a band just firing up and friendly people at the glass table. We were immediately confronted by a stern man, (Dwayne??) who told us that the dog, who was on a 6 inch lead, was not allowed due to some endangered species of bird out on the bay. Huh? We were NOT allowed in!, he said. So we went back to get a refund. People were asking us where we were going???????? We told them that we were kicked out. The people at the registration were not happy with this. Then Dwayne(??) came running up to tell us that, yes, it was confirmed, we were not allowed in because of the birds. Told twice that we had to leave! Seems to me that the noise of the band would have been more damaging to the birds than a dog on a 6 inch leash. Make it clear, people, why you dont allow dogs. Most of us dog-friendly people understand health codes. BUT the thing about the birds is bull - especially when I have taken her out on the island in many, many spots that get me MUCH closer to the birds than in a closed space at Rock Wall. Sorry, you just lost 2 customers and all of our friends who love the dog - Olive, by the way. A beuatiful black standard Poodle. Evidently smarter than most of the chiefs at the winery. We will not visit you again.
