I love this path because it has a beautiful view of the river and a little bit of climbing over some beautiful fallen trees. There are a lot of nice riverbanks to relax on that are not full current even when it rains a ton. It is super fun for kids and dogs. It is not a loop trail, but it has a really cool area through rocks, although it seems to be a storm drain, but it is absolutely beautiful. It still is a bit of a hike and I was actually at babb run not cascade. I would recommend tennis shoes and it isnt a super easy trail.
Well kept. Actual restrooms. I did the Cascade Trail which is very nice. Rated difficult, but once youre over the first big hill, its not a difficult hike. Trail is well marked, some stairs. No water crossings, but it follows the Cuyahoga River for a while so you can get your feet wet if you like.
Hiked the Oxbow Trail. Short, but challenging. You start out along the Cuyahoga then hike up about 150 feet to a fantastic overlook. Be sure to join the Overlook Trail when you see the marker; the Oxbow Trail itself bypasses the overlook. We’re in our late 60s and it only took 40 minutes.
Beautiful park. Love the picnic area right on the bank of the Cuyahoga river. The overlook deck has a breathtaking view.
I went to overlook and took pictures of the valley. It was glorious. So beautiful. In heading back to the car we saw a deer and her baby. What a treat!
This park is beautiful, the trails and atmosphere are amazing. Not only is the park big but it connects to other parks so there is always something new to see.
Great place to enjoy nature. Nice to see people enjoying the outdoors.
Beautiful scenery. Great for families and anyone who wants to get outside and enjoy nature!
We had a great time hiking the Chuckery trail. It was clean and well maintained.
Hilltop Shelter was occupied so we used another grill and picnic table on the hill and it was very nice. Got to grill and theres a little path to walk down the hill and find the trails. Lovely.
Yeah pretty short hike, with a pretty cool overlook. Thanks for having it.
I love its quite peaceful and were getting glimps in the trees changing.
A hidden gem in the middle of Akron! Beautifully kept. The paths were easy to follow and walk along!
Really beautiful overlook of the valley, river, and Cuyahoga Falls bridge in the distance.
Overlook is a great park trail for beginners and the view overlooking the oxbow in the Cuyahoga in spectacular in the Fall.
Revive your mind, rescue your soul...Nature therapy abounds in our area. Take advantage of a plethora of city, county, and national parks in northeast Ohio.
The overlook is always a great place to visit...unless you have a fear of heights.
Along with the others, this Metro park is always a treat. Well taken care of and plenty of places to rest, cook, and enjoy your stay.
This place is great to go take a walk along the river.
Very nice park! We hiked 2 trails and enjoyed both of them. The Overlook Trail is short, but the view from the overlook is scenic. The Oxbow Trail gets right beside the river with good views.
This place is not that famous and I didnt expect to see such a nature beauty. If you are a nature lover and visiting this area, I strongly suggest you to see this place.
Beautiful hike. A bit isolated, that could be a positive or negative depending on what you are looking. Hike close the river, picnic tables for your pleasure. And a historic tree that was used by the Native Americans as a guide!
Nice atmosphere. Would be perfect for fishing, or just relaxing by the water.
An amazing experience, outstanding breathtaking views. Nothing like the wildlife and fresh air to calm your body mind and soul.
Beautiful. Hardly ever any litter. Theres clams, fish, and crawdads in the water!
A great hike and pretty scenery in the middle of an urban area!
A big back yard for those of us stuck in the city.
Very pretty park
Cascade has multiple challenging trails with great views of the river and other spots.
A great way to connect with nature
Fun trails to hike, or just go for a fairly scenic route.
Beautiful cliffs! Great hike along the Cuyahoga.
I walked this with my dogs there is a nice clearing where you can take your dogs to the water.
Lovely in fall very nice trails ...lots of roots and stairs
Did the Overlook and Oxbow Trail Loop combo for a great hike. A few moderate sections with inclines and a set of stairs that will work your glutes!
The river is relaxing and healing especially in these troubling times. Sit by it for 30mins for a welcome escape from current events.
Its pretty awesome
Awesome path! Well kept, we played in the water!
Fabulous Hill for sled riding- shorter than Kendall or Goodyear heights but steeper and much faster. For us old farts there is a nice fire pit to warm your bruised and swollen joints when you get tired of multiple Treks up mini Mount Everest.....
Nice area to do an easy hike.
Wonderful overlook. Easy to get there. Bathrooms on location. Beautiful and just relaxing. Worth a stop!
Wonderful Trail! Easy 2.4 miles
We choose this park for a family picnic. We were so pleased with this place. Nice view of the river from the picnic area at the bottom parking lot. Feels secluded because your totally surrounded by trees and brush. Everyone walked though the river skipping rocks and hunting for crayfish. There was no bathroom nearby there may have been one over by the baseball fields, But that area was closed off.
Wonderful scenery, very clean and had easy-hard options. You could follow a paved path or hike down to the water.
Great place to spend time with family.
A beautiful and peaceful trail.
Always love this trail.
Its beautiful!! Love taking the kids sight seeing
It was a bit crowded, but that is expected as it is very closed to urban settings. Great short hikes and a big sledding hill at the oxbow entrance. Perfect hikes for families and unfit folks.
Great lil park
Went to see the 300 year old signal tree
Fun place to walk and take in some of the history of the building of Akron. Many different things to see and explore.
Ilove this place its nice and pretty thank you metro parks for all yall do
Amazing and quiet! Walk the trails, you wont regret it.
Beautiful landscape.
Fields are really nice unless it rains since they dont drain well. The umps are very consistent and it is well maintained.
Really good hike. Natural terrain.
They have a great sledding hill! Its huge, and the way it wraps around offers varying degrees of steepness making it great for all ages. On the steepest side they have a rope railing to help you pull yourself back up. Definitely recommend!
Great relaxing place to go for a run or a walk if you go on the south side of the dam. Perfect place to hammock and read on the north side of the dam.
Heated bathrooms in the winter with running water and flushing toilets. Very nice.
I particularly enjoy the Cascade Valley Overlook Trail, about a 10 minute hike on level, paved trail. The view from the top is amazing. Do bring a camera, youll want to remember how it looked. Down below at the Chuckery there is the Signal Tree and its history is very unique to read. There are also trails to the Cuyahoga River, which in this valley is very picturesque.
S I G N A L T R E E
Nice place with lots of trails. Some steep so get ready for a cardio!#
Theres not enough space here to describe why I love the river area at Cascade Metro Park! Theres a bird sanctuary that has river trails and areas to actually enjoy the water. Our dogs absolutely love going here and playing in the water.I will caution you that if you are not comfortable in the water please dont go play in the water! The current can be dangerous!
Very scenic and enjoyable walk. Did about 2.2 miles total, down to the river and the loop.
So much fun to hike this area! Keep your eyes peeled for a beautiful, old tree with a story to tell. Get outside and enjoy this trail.
Once the construction is done on the park path it will be even better!
Beautiful park with a nice sledding hill!
Love love love these parks!! The whole chain if them right off Cuyahoga street and the side street where the bird conservation area is at are always very clean and well maintained. I wish the baseball field areas were a little more pet friendly but I cant complain about anything else!! Thanks Summit County Parks Department for the job you are doing!! ️
Peaceful clean all around great park for exercise
Love to sit by the water and picnic! Very peaceful
A bit popular but another great park area. Plenty of room for activities
Just went sledding here eh some friends. Fantastic hill. There was a park ranger there when we showed up so I️ assume it a pretty safe place. Lots of families and friendly people. There are lights on the hill so you can sled after dark too, when there are fewer people. It’s just nice to have a good hill so close to neighborhoods
Great little trail and park.
I particularly enjoy the Cascade Valley Overlook Trail, about a 10 minute hike on level, paved trail. The view from the top is amazing. Do bring a camera, youll want to remember how it looked. Great park to visit and get outside right from your car. It is a bit off the beaten path and not the easiest to find. However, it is well worth the drive to.Your able to walk along the river and even grill too. Several large soccer fields and bathroom with a drinking fountain too.
My favorite place on earth!
On a dry day, this park offers good fishing and recreational fun.
Fantastic, beautiful, peaceful, wonderful
Very beautiful! Peaceful.
Awesome place to go for a walk. Lots of places to explore if you want to go off the trail.
Its one of my favorite hikes with my girlfriend. A fun overlook if you can go when another couple isnt hogging it. Jk, it also has a sled hill and fields, a shallow river
Excellent trail system that connects with other parks in Cuyahoga Falls, North Hill, and Akron valley area. They have a soccer field, some baseball fields, and a couple areas to picnic.
Beautiful park! Some trails can be a bit muddy and there are a lot of bugs, beautiful waterside views and sounds though.
Great place to ride, hike, or just relax. Lots of nature to see.
Beautiful trail with a great path by the river. Definitely worth a short hike around it.
Fantastic little park. One of this areas most well rounded parks, especially given its size. A real gem. Really nice hiking trail next to the river and though the woods including a beautiful valley overlook. A couple places to sit and eat with picnic tables and BBQs. One has a pavilion. A great sled hill in the winter with a heated seating area during maintained hours. Well manicured lighted ball fields.
Very tranquil and serene. I enjoyed my walk.
Summit county metro parks, awesome.
Pretty amazing park to find in an urban/suburban setting like Akron. The view of the Cuyahoga River oxbend from the end of the Overlook Trail, a short trail which starts from the Sackett Avenue parking lot, is beautiful, highly recommended!! This park has an extensive trail network and is pretty hilly (cabeat: by Ohio standards!) good for hiking and trail running. This section of the Cuyahoga has a babbling brook feel.. The park had plenty of picnic tables with charcoal barbeque grills, including some right by the river accessible from the Cuyahoga Street entrance in Akron. The park is divided in two non-contiguous sections, Cascade Valley Metro Park North and South, see the photo I took of the locations on the map..
Love it because its river side
Peaceful walk especially the sounds listening to the waters rage
Oxbow is a great place to go sledding. Nice tall hill and very long.
