The have a great hiking trail up this smaller mountain. Located off the north frontage road east of Foothills boulevard. Very hot desert climate so have plenty of water and dont hike alone unless you are familiar and prepared.
Pretty good as far as passes go. Without it, we would be four wheeling over it. Pretty sure there is some good hiking to be done. Someone mentioned that the west bound and east bound lanes cross over one another. Never noticed that in my 15 years of driving over this pass. I thought it was pretty interesting to see that they do cross over each other twice. Makes you wonder why they had to do that. Why not just make them go straight through? Anyway, something to think about if you are always driving from Phoenix to San Diego and you get really bored.
Hiking the Pass I would recommend during the winter seasons, when the weather is manageable and less critters. Great for cardio; it gets pretty steep so be forewarned. Great view at the top, also you can sign a guest log up there as well. Worth checking out.
Fun memories, great place to exercise.
Its not a great place to be broken down, but night time is pretty with lots of stars.
Pretty as you zip by to Phoenix or Yuma
Good place to see something interesting.
I went there like never i almost died lol
The original highway thru this area was U.S. 80. The present-day eastbound lanes follow the 1948 alignment of U.S. 80, while the westbound lanes cut across the original 1928 alignment of U.S. 80.

Good cardio every time
Really cool how the eastbound and westbound lanes cross over and the roads go on the opposite side of the oncoming traffic ... crazy!
