Amazing museum. Ample free parking. Admission is reasonable $7/adults. 3 floors are all wheelchair accessible. The museum combines storytelling and visual and even interactive displays of video, art and artifacts to give a sense of the rise and fall of industry in Western PA/Eastern OH, the economic reality for the common man. Brilliantly includes a section on modern industry. We spent a leisurely 90 minutes on a Sunday. We hadnt been to downtown Youngstown for a while and were impressed with the changes that have happened there. Nice restaurants a few blocks away. You could easily make an afternoon out of it.

This museum gives a lot of information on the early days of steel making and the growth and decline of the steel industry of the Mahoning Valley. There is a lot of history on The Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. Lots of displays of the tool, equipment, and machinery of steel making. There is also a lot of information on the people that came to this area from around the world. It is a great tribute to the steel valley. If this review was helpful to you, please give it a like.

Small yet largely informative. Great little spot to learn the history of the impact of steel im the region. Dont take your kids...kida will get bored quickly, but as for adults with a large thirst for local historical knowledge, my wife and I loved it!!

The center does a good job of documenting the history of the American steel industry in general and Youngstowns steel mills in particular. Very nice exhibits and loads of information. Well worth a visit. Plan on 2 hr minimum if you want to absorb it all.

A fabulous place to relive our steel, business and Industrial historical past. There is no place that connects us to what put us on the map worldwide other than this location on the campus of our great and respected YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY! There is solid part of all of us and our families in this facility.

We are looking for the history of America industry and the building of America on our vacations. This was during our rustbelt to her where we found most everything was gone. This Museum gave one of the best overviews of the steel industry in this Valley you can hope to get. Although told a little bit too much from the labor side rather than the industry side it gives an outstanding story of the history of the beginning of the steel mills in this Valley and the steel industry up to about 1965. You learn about steel processing the building of the towns the strikes and then finally the closing of all the mills in the valley within a short period of time. Alas you do not read about the fact that the unions created such a hostile situation that the companies didnt attempt to modernize plants but that would have reduce the labor force by at least half and only resulted in union strikes and no modernization. It is a shame thats the lesson of unions destroying Industries does not seem to be learned even in hindsight. This is a must-see Museum if youre interested in the history of Americas industry and what happened to all the huge structures and Machinery of that era
