Loved the Best of the Eagles show. It was great to see a live concert again! I had never heard of this group, but now that I have seen them, I would definitely go to another show if they return to the area. The arrangements were well thought out to present the show and keep all of us attending safe. Thank you Appell Center, York Revolution and Doceo for making this event possible.
The Best of the Eagles Concert on Saturday night was one of the best nights my family has had in a long time. The band was exceptional and all of the safety precautions helped us feel like we could enjoy a night out and be relatively safe from COVID exposure. Let’s do more of this!
We had a GREAT time at the Motown show. The band was wonderful, the volunteers were very helpful and friendly and the social distance on the field was excellent. It was a beautiful night and we appreciate you putting on this show during these difficult times!
We saw the Sensational Soul Cruisers at the Peoples bank park in York. Fantastic concert outside ! Much care to social distancing during this pandemic. Wonderful show. Thank you For a great evening!
Thoroughly enjoyed the music! Great to be at a concert again. Covid 19 protocol followed. Felt safe. Ill be glad when venues can be full again, though.
Wife and I attended the Best of the Eagles concert and we had a good time. Thanks again. Jim and Lisa Welty
It was fantastic! The music brought back good memoriesL I was pleased with the care taken to keep us safe. It was well planned. Looking forward to more.Thanks.Bridget Schell
It was a great show and the facility was excellent and very comfortable. Hopefully there will be more of this type show.
I was very impressed. What beautiful center! We were there to see Jj Grey and Mofro with opening act Neal Francis. Comfortable seats but a little tight especially in the front row of the second section. There is a rail in front if the seats which doesnt allow you to stretch your legs during the show. Sound was very good.
Love it ! Great experience venue was nice and clean and all of the seats are good ones We would definitely go back to see another great band or any entertainment. Small concession stand with drinks and chips, nuts, candy ectso dont plan to eat there but there is a great pizza place 4/5 doors down. Great time !
Great place to see a show. Very clean and great setup. Acoustics were very good. Good location with parking available very close. Plenty of restaurants/bars within walking distance.
I took my mom to a performance by the York Symphony Orchestra last night and I am already looking forward to going again. The performance was superb. The venue itself was beautiful and clean, spacious but laid out well so that even those seated in the back could see without problem. It is in the heart of downtown York, so while parking seems like an issue there are several parking garages in the area as well as street parking. Staff was polite and helpful. Five stars!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening watching the performance of Beautiful! The venue is perfect for shows which engage the audience as this one did. What an amazing experience and one well never forget.A friendly and comfortable setting, we will be returning soon!
A great venue, both in size and overall feel! The seating is comfortable and doesnt feel too compacted, the sound was balanced well, and the staging was awesome! They have a great lineup of shows, so I hope to be back (Black Violin is the band in the video).
The Appell Center has beautiful architecture and excellent acoustics. It is small space that allows you to focus on the musicians on stage. I look forward to the next Appell Center event.
Cheap symphony tickets at $9 and up! Well worth the money and actually worth more than that! I also tried the balcony seating for a dance performance, an overall enjoyable experience! This center is one of Yorks #1 destinations. There are several parking garages within a block or two and I highly recommend them as an easy place to park. Typically there are crowds coming and going at shows beginning and end and also a stronger police presence at these times.
This is a really cool local theater, perfect for intimate comedy shows and good for movies. Though its been renovated, the seats are too small for 21st century-sized people. I have no idea why they replaced the old seats with the same size tiny seats with little leg room. If you are average in size or smaller, you will appreciate this venue immensely. It is beautiful inside.Balcony seating is best if you are of an age where hopping down stairs in a crowd doesnt bother you.Their comedy line-up has been great, not just a great value, but the comedians are very funny.Plan to have dinner nearby, so you can enjoy a short walk to your show. This is located in one of the best, and loveliest areas in York, so you will feel very comfortable on foot.
I am so thankful they get such a unique mix of shows in here. They might be mid-week but its well worth it. Always looks up when youre in your seats! The architecture and paintings are gorgeous.
It is an amazing inclusive venue with tons of great performances. Became a member and loved the discounts that followed!
Saw Little Woman with my wife ... our first time at this theater ... the movie was good and the theater was a very nice venue - well be back for other shows ...
My daughter and I attended an orchestra performance of the 1812 overture last year and loved it so much we bought season tickets
Absolutely a wonderful concert experience tonight. Didnt hurt that Aaron Copeland is one of my favorite composers. The guest cellist was fantastic and greatly appreciated by the audience.
Always feels good to be entertained in great venue!
Well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great events that are well organized and professionally managed. It was quite an experience to see Art Garfunkel in concert!
Great place to see a show! Beautiful venu
Had a great time seeing EDR. Very quick and painless entry into the venue and reasonable ticket prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. I loved that the owner recognized the MC on his last evening and made it very special. A small and quaint venue.
Always a great evening. We just saw Shemekia Copeland who was wonderful! The volunteers are so friendly and helpful.
Such a wonderful theater! The seats were extremely comfy and the staff was so kind and helpful!
We have seen/heard quite a few performances here. No complaints here!
Outstanding performance by the York Symphony Orchestra and guest cellist Mark Kosower, principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra.
The warm up band was awesome. We did not stay for the Wood Brothers as we spent 20 minutes outside in single digits temperature after the fire alarm went off. Up until that it was a nice evening.
Fun place! Garage parking not far away. Close to restaurants. Old theater, balcony seats, small theater
Meh. Meh meh meh. Like going to a high school concert for aging hippies.
I did Merchandise in the Music Industry for 12 years and this venue was always right at the top of my list of favorites and I still remember how much i enjoyed it still to this day! I was at my mothers house tonight and she was watching a special on the roots of country music, where they were showing all kinds of old footage of acts performing at all of these old venues like this great place! She asked me what were some of my favorite places that I had been and I immediately said this place, although I had to do a little research on the name but I was close! I told her The Capital Strand which was pretty dang close! After pulling up the pictures, I knew without a doubt I had the right place and that I had just gotten the name a little messed up! lol What I do remember is how great the staff was here, how great the show sounded and how beautiful it was!! Would definately recomend going here, even if you have to make a drive to see a show at this historic theater! Hopefully one day Ill be able to go back, although it is quite a drive from what use to be Good Ole Nashville, TN where I was born and raised, where you use to be able to jump in a car (no matter what side of town you were on) and could be on the other side in no more than 15 minutes (instead of an hour and 15 minutes) and where we use to be known for great southern hospitality as well as many other great things other than the bad! I guess all good things must come to a end, but thankfully this Venue is still going strong and hopefully it stays the way it is for many years to come! Anyways, didnt mean to write a book about our time there but people need to give credit where credit is due and I just wanted to say thanks, to not only all the staff, but also to the Community for treating us so well while we were there! Keep up the great work, hopefully this place will be around for another 100+ yesrs to come! :-)
A smaller theater means your closer to the performance. Very high quality productions. Highly recommend l.
York Citys best place for all types of live entertainment.
Such a pretty place to see anything! Love this theater
Went for a concert in the evening. Parking was free in the Philadelphia St. garage for the evening, so it was a short walk. Friendly staff showed us our seats. The place looks great, and the sound was terrific. No major problems getting out either. Really enjoyed the venue.
This place is pretty great. I mean if you are over 42 doesnt matter where you are you can see the stage. Tickets are pretty reasonable, and if you are a normal size it is comfortable. Parking is across the street, covered and secure. Always had some great times in this theater. Ohhhh its got so much history and charm. Restored to its former glory and just beautiful.
I love all the original detail of the theater and the productions they put on .
My 1st visit - what a lovely theatre (all good seats?) with absolutely the most amazingly kind and helpful staff EVER. It is a gem. The vibe of the area, ease of parking, and nearby restaurants, made this venue a pleasure even before the show began!
Fantastic show tonight! Lindsay Buckingham put on a terrific performance! The crowd was really into it, dancing in the aisles and all. Lindsay is a phenomenal guitarist and singer.
Excellent place to watch the arts. A beautiful restored historic theatre. Complete with amazing Orgestra and they have a chorus too.
Beautiful venue. Good view of the stage everywhere in the house. Beer, wine. Easy parking.
Beautiful theater with excellent performances especially the York Symphony Orchestra
A very nice establishment with great decor. We went to see a Queen tribute band here last weekend.Seating was great, very friendly staff. Easy access to parking. Not too much else to say!
Great acoustics, sightlines & a funky vibe. Open bar too.
Very nice and had a good time
Beautifully restored theater. Fantastic selection of shows - truly something for everyone - at reasonable prices. Comfortable seats with unobstructed sight lines. A ladies room with as many stalls as youd find in a sports stadium (but much cleaner)! Food and beverages sold in the lobby can be brought into the theater. Personable staff. Coat check is available, and there are numerous parking garages within walking distance.
Love this place, great venue for a show.
Nice size theater for feeling close but good views all around. Parking nearby and good restaurants and pubs.
Quality entertainment, great acoustics, beautiful theatre and friendly staff and volunteers.
Beautiful old theatre. Great show, Mavis Staples.
Always love a night out with good music
Great shows, nice people.
Dueling pianos were great!
Nice place for a show JEFF BECK
Beautiful interior. Went to a symphony and really enjoyed it. Seats are a little small/close together but thats relative.
Nice place. Rented the hall.
Heard entire Abbey Road album performed here. Intimate venue, wonderful acoustics.
This was my first show at the Strand. The venue was easy to get in to. One inside, its quite nice. Not as opulent as other theatres in the area, but lovely nonetheless. Acoustically it was good, for the concert I attended. There are good restaurants nearby to get dinner and a drink before the show.
Went here on a school feildtrip and the kids loved it!!! I would definately like to come back and check out a show.
I bought tickets to an event as a gift. Being a big fan of the performer, I made sure to get good seats. The front section was completely full, however, the front row in the next section back had availability. I purchased the tickets, but when we arrived, we were directed to seats several rows back from what the seating map had displayed online. We asked the staff to check to make sure we had the correct seats. They assured us we had. Then the guests on both sides of us (separate parties) mentioned they were having the same problem. We had all purchased seats in the front of our section, but we were smashed into the middle of the section instead. This was incredibly disappointing and I was so embarrassed after sharing how I got great seats. Please be aware that the seating map shown when ordering tickets does not align with the actual seats in the theatre.
Beautiful old theatre. Seats are very small and very little leg room as well, typical for a theatre of that time.
Beautiful old theater. Worth seeing if not for the show for the building.
Beautiful theatre. Everybody was super nice and friendly. The restrooms are the cleanest Ive seen compared to any other theater I have been to. Well staffed and just a wonderful place to go for great entertainment!
I have never been disappointed by any of the shows Ive seen. I can always count on excellence.
First time here and we saw Richard Marx. Fabulous show!
Great theater in a small town!! I always enjoy my time here!
Very clean and staff was helpful. Good acoustics. Beautiful building.
Its down town, easy assessable and good shows. I only gave 4 stars because I would like to see more black and latino shows that bring more people to the venue. They need African/Latino Employees within their event planning.
This is such a lovely old building. It is well maintained and the acoustics are wonderful.
Nice theatre. Nothing fancy but large lobby and comfortable seats. Very clean theatre and bathrooms.
Saw the Indigo Girls in concert. Amazing. The place was well-staffed and everybody got to their seats in good order.
A wonderful, historic venue in downtown York flanked by nice restaurants, plenty of parking (typically free at showtime). They sell snacks and drinks in the venue itself.I have been there for the comedy shows and the movies and it has been a consistently nice experience.
Terrific theater great major renovations and the theater organ is an extra special treat to hear before movies.
Show was great! Staff great!Wine was worse than Bad (Chardonnay) Cost way too much $6 for a little cup. Should have gotten Beer
What a great show.
Such a great venue. Weve been to several shows here and all of them have been great.

A beautiful interior with very polite, dedicated volunteers. A good variety of shows.
Great theatre in downtown York for smaller concerts, plays, and other shows. The movie series and the shows are great. There are plenty of restaurants and places to get a drink in close proximity to the theatre.
David Bowie tribute was great. Great time as always.
A beautiful venue for music. Great sounding room. Clean and the support staff are excellent.
Beautiful venue with friendly and helpful staff. Great place to see a show. I cant wait to go back!
Excellent show, helpful ushers, and comfortable seating. Love it there!

Jeff Beck is an accomplished guitarist. One of the best. Wonderful experience but too loud. Vibrated the seats.
Very Intimate, magician was great and all staff over the top nice
Beautiful venue to enjoy York County Honors Choir Concert
It was amazing to see the kids having fun performing on York Pa biggest stage.
Went to see a musical and was impressed by the preserved condition of this theater. Little bit of history. Thank goodness it was preserved.
