Wow. That’s is all I have to say for this company. I recently had my wedding and music was a huge part for us. I wanted to have a great DJ who would play songs not only for us but for the whole crowd. Kent was our DJ and he was outstanding. Whether it was responsiveness, professionalism, or his actual performance at the wedding, he always went above and beyond. Not only does Black Tie provide your entertainment but they assist you in planning your day. The customer portal they have is very user friendly too. Cannot recommend this company enough!

Black Tie Entertainment went above and beyond all our expectations. We worked with DJ John Lukehart and he worked with us every step of the way to create the most amazing wedding timeline and setlist for the event. He was able to find creative ways to incorporate our music tastes and keep the whole multicultural crowd engaged and on the dance floor. He was also really adept at picking up social cues like when my husband ran out of dance moves during our first dance and needed an out. He also embraced our idea for Beatles themed ceremony music and helped bring our vision to life. Additionally we used their uplighting services that transformed our venue into a romantic space for dinner and party central for open dance time. We also had the open air photo booth which gave us so many awesome fun photos from the evening and the photo booth attendant had everyone making silly faces and getting really into the photos. He was so great that some of our guests even took photos with him.

Matt was our DJ for our wedding (07/23/2020). We are so grateful that he was still able to come out and be our DJ during this unusual time. Matt was, in a sense, awesome! He knew how to motivate our crowd and knew what kind of music would get our crowd dancing. We loved his style and class. We would recommend Matt to anyone looking for a DJ. Where do we even start? We found Black Tie Entertainment during various research while planning our wedding. It was important to us to have a great DJ, as you can plan a beautiful detailed wedding in so many ways but really suffer if the DJ is inexperienced or doesnt understand your taste. We knew we wanted a high-energy, fun, and experienced DJ. After talking to Matt we could feel his confidence, expertise, and flexibility to play for any crowd. Flash forward to after we decided to go with DJ Matt, his responsiveness during the planning portion was incredible. Every question we had not only did he have an answer to, but it was met with lightning fast response time. He walked us through our wedding day with his expert recommendations (so helpful and just what we needed) and pivoted portions of the night where needed. We had so much piece of mind going into our big day that we were in good hands. During our wedding he was impeccable. The important thing to understand is Matt is not just a DJ, but a massively talented MC. His inflection, timing, and energy was never off...always on point for the portion of the night. He went off our playlist, and even added in a few songs that made our guests go WILD. We were floored at how well he knew the songs we liked!! The ones he added in were legitimately some of our favorites that we just couldnt fit. Lastly the uplighting was amazing, he did this beautiful pink/purple/rose color. Made the room look even more incredible. I would recommend DJ Matt to every friend getting married. Money WELL spent. THANK YOU MATT!

We really liked that Black Tie Entertainment has a Met the DJ night so you can see not only what their flow is like but have a chance to talk to all the DJs and see which one is the best fit. We chose DJ Chase and were so amazed at what a wonderful job he did - our dance floor was full all night long. We had such a great time and everything went so smoothly, Chase was able to work hand in hand with our venue.. We definitely recommend.

We loved working with Black Tie Entertainment! Our DJ, Matt, was very talented and has an incredible background in all-things music. We had no idea what song the groom and groomsmen should walk out to and Matt saved the day--the first recommendation he had, based on what he knew we liked, was perfect. The whole team is professional and takes their job seriously. Highly recommend!

We used Black Tie Entertainment for a DJ and photo booth at our corporate holiday party this past Saturday evening. Everything went off without a hitch. The DJ did a great job playing to our Roaring 20s them to begin with and then went into dance music as the evening progressed. The dance floor was full until the end of our event. The photo booth was different from past experiences. It was a camera with a sheet as a backdrop. Probably would prefer a regular style photo booth in the future, but what was provided worked.

Black Tie Entertainment pretty much single-handedly planned my wedding. We used Eddy as our DJ, Becca as our day-of planner, and booked their open-air photo booth as well. The whole team was above and beyond with responsiveness. Eddy ran our reception seamlessly and really seemed to enjoy his work. The music was the perfect blend of what we wanted and what our guests wanted. Becca kept the whole day running perfectly and kept me calm for the whole month in advance. And the day of the event, I got to just relax and enjoy things because I knew she would take care of anything that came up. I am so glad I decided to book them!

Matt Johnson from Black Tie did a great job as DJ for our wedding of around 160 people! He worked with us closely to make sure pronunciations of family names were correct which was important to us, and provided us with a custom edit of a song that we wanted to use for our first dance! He also did an excellent job with the sound system and mics for our ceremony and coordinating our reception. Many of our friends also told us they enjoyed the songs he selected and how he kept the dance floor going! We loved that he was flexible during our reception and accommodated guest requests, coordination with our photographers for group photos, and how he knew how to transition between songs throughout the night.

John was great! He was super helpful throughout the process and we got exactly what we wanted. He was super professional and was just the right amount of help throughout the planning process. If we ever get married again we would use him.

Mike was amazing, he made sure that our special day went right on tack even though we were all over the place with our music choices. He made sure that we didn’t worry and he handled every curve ball we threw at him like it was nothing. We both changed out entrance songs 2 hours before the wedding, and handled our groomsmen with ease with every request they had! He brought everyone to the dance floor from start to finish! I can’t express how amazing Mike was for our amazing day! He truly did a spectacular job! 10/5 stars. Hands down the absolute best!

I cant sing Kevin Bates praises enough. His energy was amazing - so much so that one of my engaged co-workers said that she and her fiance want to know how to go about working with Black Tie. Also, the photo booth was a hit! We had a blast and it helped that everyone could tell Kevin was having fun too..his energy is contagious and he has a ton of charisma. Not to mention, hes super conscientious about timing/planning. Hire them - theyll make the day even more special.

Black Tie made the wedding planning process and execution seemless. The initial meeting and contract negotiation went so well, my then fiance and I thought it was too good to be true. The online portal makes it so easy to provide the DJ with everything they will need to know about your big day and it even helps to make sure you dont forget anything. We were blessed to have Eddy Bobby as our DJ and he was a blast. He executed our timeline to perfection and got everyone out on the dance floor. I highly recommend Black Tie to anyone planning a wedding or event in the DC area.

Words cannot describe how amazing Black Tie Entertainment and DJ Eddy Bobby were for our wedding. After a brief conversation with a Black Tie rep about our musical tastes and our vision for the reception we got matched with Eddy Bobby. During the planning process we had two Skype meetings with him to cover the timeline of events, musical selections, and how interactive he would be with the crowd. The day of the wedding arrived and everything was perfect.Eddie Bobby was extremely personable and kept the crowd dancing. He pulled off one of the most slick moves I’ve ever seen to get people on the floor immediately. When the first dance ended he got on the mic and smoothly invited all of the couples to the floor for a nice slow dance. As the song ended he kicked it into gear with some faster songs. Since so many people were already on the dance floor the rest of the crowd joined in with no pressure. The entire night he was the perfect amount of engaged with the crowd, the transitions to the next song were on point, and absolutely nothing went wrong. Everyone stayed dancing until the final send off.

Mike Interdonato did an outstanding job as the DJ for my clients wedding this past November! He was attentive to the crowd and read it amazingly, sensitive to the timeline, easy to work with as a fellow vendor, and prompt in his communication before the event. The dance floor was packed all night long. I am a wedding planner so finding a DJ who is great a trouble shooting, enjoyable to work with, and does everything my clients ask is paramount! Mike did a great job and I highly recommend him!!

He was great in helping us plan the music, and he worked well in selecting music that everyone enjoyed, which was a challenge because we had a wide range of ages and cultures represented. We had a blast with Matt as DJ for my 40th birthday party! He played a great mix of requests, current music and old favorites. He kept the dance floor going all night long. I was particularly impressed with the energy he brought to the very end to fill the dance floor and make the night memorable.

Black Tie Entertainment was wonderful to work with from start to finish. My now wife and I met them at the Dulles marriage expo center where they advertised their services. Eddy our dejay, was great at communicating with us as we progressed closer and closer to the wedding date, one very valuable thing that they provided was talking through and getting a timeline of the wedding day event from start to finish, this helped us out tremendously and gave us a sense of security that our wedding was actually coming together! At the day of, Eddy was great, set up early, had wireless mics for speeches and the party games he coordinated went by flawlessly. When it came to the dance portion of the night, the music was well selected by Eddy for my wife and hardly did any music selection and just asked for popular mainstream music. Thanks again Eddy for a job well, well done!

Oneka was the BEST! She did an amazing job at our wedding and I am so grateful for her skills. She really knew how to read the room and get the crowd dancing with a incredible selection. I am so appreciative of her work. We were a little hesitant at first with Black Tie because our initial phone call with a gentleman there was....intense....like he just came on too strong. Oneka is warm, friendly and professional. We had a small hiccup at our wedding and she rolled with it and helped us get on the right foot! SO, SO grateful for her!

Every detail from beginning to end with this company was a pleasure! They made it so easy for us to connect with them, and pick the perfect DJ for our needs. John Lukehart was our DJ. During the planning process, he made sure we had everything set up the way we wanted it, and even made notes of the things we didnt want to happen. During the reception, he kept the entire event moving as we planned. At the beginning we were a bit behind on time, John was able to adapt and get us back on schedule. When I lost track of time, and was too busy mingling, he would be sure I made it to where I needed to be. He made sure to play all of our must plays, and also read the room and played the best songs for our crowd. They definitely made our night special, and exactly how we envisioned it! The entire night was fun, energetic, while also remaining elegant and professional!

Black Tie Entertainment was recommended to us by our venue since they are so often used there, and I can see why! From our initial call, Matt made it such an easy choice to choose Black Tie & him for our wedding. He asked my wife and my styles and catered our event to that. The software to assign special songs and list out our must plays, play if there is time, and our do not plays was really easy to use, which took some stress off of us for the day. We had a couple check-ins where Matt verified pronunciation of wedding party names, and confirmed the exact songs we wanted for every special song we had (and times) - during both the ceremony and reception.We initially had some trouble finding a specific version of the song we chose for our processional, but Matt called us twice to play the versions he was able to find until it was the exact one we wanted. With a big wedding party, we werent sure if the song would last the entire time, but he edited it and played certain parts on a loop until my wife walked down the aisle, which sounded incredible since he waited until the most upbeat part of the instrumental for her entrance.Overall, Matts professionalism and the amount of people we had on the dance floor all night made us aware that the music was a big hit! I cant recommend this company, and specifically Matt Johnson, enough.

Eddy Bobby from Black Tie Entertainment was our DJ and he was amazing! He brought both knowledge and experience. From start to finish, he understood our vision and adapted to our desires to create such an incredibly fun and classy celebration full of energy and music we love!

Black Tie Entertainment and DJ Eddy Bobby were an integral part of our wedding ceremony and reception. From planning to execution, DJ Eddy was able to help shape our wedding into the amazing success it was. The planning tools are very modern and easy to navigate. Throughout the planning process, Eddy was ready and able to assist us whenever we needed him.We had two formal meetings: One to go over our ceremony song selection order and reception must plays, discretionary play, and DO NOT play playlists. The other to go over the wedding in general, to include vendors, day of timings, themes, and LED lighting colors.The DJ ensured he had the correct versions of the songs (some were covers) and worked with us to determine the start and stop timings of for each processional song. Eddys intuitive sense and ability to read the situation/crowd provided for a great event.I cant imagine using any other DJ!

We planned our wedding from out of state, and finding a DJ can be daunting when your only option is to see other reviews and talk over the phone. We were very impressed with Black Tie Entertainment! We had a great initial discussion with Dave, and then we met with our DJ Eric. The entire planning process was very straightforward, and their online tools and frequent meetings were helpful! Our guests have continued to rave about what a great job Eric did DJ-ing our wedding. We were very impressed with Eric- from setup across three indoor/outdoor areas, leading the events through the night, incorporating our song choices, feeling the crowd, taking some requests, and in general helping us throw a great party. Highly recommend both Eric and Black Tie Entertainment!

From start to finish Black Tie Entertainment were fantastic to work with. Dave Melton took the time to truly get to know us, before recommending the perfect DJ. Dave worked closely helping us adhere closely to our budget. He even offered to personally visit our venue to help decide on how many uplights we needed.The planning software was very easy to use and helped us get all of our timeline and song requests down in a centralized location. This software alone was worth its weight in gold.Finally, we loved having Brian lead our wedding. He worked flawlessly around all of our requests, was very professional, and made the show truly about us. I have spent one day with Brian and yet I feel like ive known him forever. We would love to recommend Brian to anyone else that is looking for a DJ.

We hired Black Tie Entertainment for both our wedding ceremony and reception. From the beginning, Matt was extremely helpful with reviewing our initial thoughts and recommending multiple DJs that he thought would fit our vibe. We selected DJ Brian and could not have been more pleased! DJ Brian walked us through logistics, preferred song list, every little detail multiple times before our event. We had multiple Facetime calls with DJ Brian and he was prompt in all his correspondence. Day of, he was timely, energetic, adhered to all our wishes, and made us feel at ease. On 8/31 I threw a surprise party for my parents 25th wedding anniversary. Originally I honestly had no intentions of using a DJ service, but I am SO glad I changed my mind! John Lukehart was AMAZING! He walked me through how a typical surprise party goes and helpful pointers on how to keep things going! The venue I used is brand new and was under construction the day of our walk-through, but he did not scare so easily! With concrete floors being poured and only half of the exterior done when we did our venue tour, he still was very professional and helpful! John answered every question we threw his way and was so professional from start to finish. I did not have a long list of must plays, but John made sure to play every song on my list and filled in the gaps flawlessly. I had a lot of out of town guests who attended the party so of course the catching up chatter was a must, but John was not discouraged when the dance floor was mostly empty.I opted for the photo booth as well, and unfortunately I cannot recall the mans name who was operating said booth, but he was just as wonderful!Highly recommend Black Tie Entertainment as a whole and specifically highly recommend John Lukehart for your DJ/MC needs!

Black Tie Entertainment and our DJ Eddy Bobby were absolutely fantastic! From the start, the company was very communicative via Facetime chats to coordinate and plan our event and help us choose the right DJ for our wedding. Once we selected Eddy, he met with us via Skype over a couple calls to work out the timeline, find our likes and dislikes, etc. The online planning portal makes music selection and timeline adjustments a breeze, and it has tons of great recommendations for certain points in the ceremony/reception (i.e. processional, recessional, first dance, etc). DJ Eddy executed all of our songs perfectly and made sure the entire night flowed smoothly. Did we pay a little more for Black Tie and DJ Eddy? Yes, but I can tell you that knowing your music and MC are in line for the night is priceless. We never once had to worry about if some transition was going to happen properly. In fact, we barely thought about the DJ at all which is exactly what should be happening on your wedding night because DJ Eddy did such a fantastic job!

My then-fiancée (now wife) and I went to a wedding expo where we met several DJs, but when we talked to Matt Johnson from Black Tie, we knew he was the one we wanted. As my wife and I quickly learned, a DJ doesnt only just play songs during the dance portion of the celebration, he is there the entire event and he sets the tone for every segment of the evening. With his years of experience in the entertainment industry and his confidence, we trusted Matt with the most special day of our lives. He guided us through the planning process by giving us awesome song recommendations and explained the wedding timeline. He was patient and accommodating, and very supportive of our wedding ideas. There is no song he cant find or get, so dont be shy about asking him to include unique songs. On our wedding day, he was timely and professional with set up, and he made sure all the planned events happened on time. Matt read our audience and could tell what they liked, which was impressive seeing as how our wedding guests came from different cultures and spanned several generations. He kept our wedding party bouncing with his energy and drive! He coaxed people out on the dance floor and led people for line dances - boy could he work a crowd! My wedding day was AMAZING! BTE connected us with the DJ that was just for us, Oneka Davis! Oneka did an AWESOME job and I would recommend her services any day! Her personality and professionalism are two of the most important things I was looking for from the first meeting to the last meeting just before our special day. We hired Matt Johnson - an extremely experienced, ace DJ - for our Washington, DC wedding in June 2019. My now-husband and I live in Houston, TX, so we could only initially interact with Black Tie via phone and email; but immediately after my first introductory conversation with Dave Melton, I was sold. I remember calling my then-fiancé after the call and saying, “We are booking this company now!” (which we did, immediately). We talked through my vision, our style in music, what we liked and didn’t like, and how much interaction we wanted from the DJ and MC. He immediately took my feedback and recommended Matt, and I am so glad he did.Matt met us in person in March at our reception venue to walk through their easy online planning portal. We developed essentially our whole wedding timeline. What stood out to us about Matt immediately was his voice, believe it or not. He has THE voice of an entertainer, host and perfect MC; it carries and commands a room. He was efficient, experienced and extensive. He covered all basics by ensuring he had all of our (large) bridal party and family names correct, and gave us great examples of songs to choose for different entrances. Loved his recommendation for us to come out as a couple to the Tiesto/John Legend remix of “All of Me.”On the day-of, he worked well with our reception coordinator to ensure proper set up. His DJ booth was lifted on a platform, giving it more of an appealing focal point, and he made sure to grab us before he opened up the reception hall to all of our guests - to make sure we were comfortable with everything about to go down. He rallied our entire bridal party and parents to walk through the introduction - which, in and of itself, was not easy because there were 22 of us, and nailed all the formalities. Music started with the classics (ie Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind, Fire, etc.) and smoothly transitioned into the more fun classics (Mr. Brightside, I Want It That Way) to the MORE fun (and dare I say, ratchet) music (Anaconda, Bodak Yellow, Sicko Mode, Old Town Road) that my entire wedding party loved.Everyone describes our wedding as formal but FUN. I 10000% give credit to Black Tie Entertainment, specially Matt Johnson, for that. It isn’t just amazing music that brings entertainment but extreme social awareness of how a party starts and continues through the night that I am grateful for. I’d recommend Matt Johnson to anyone and everyone who is looking for an amazing DJ who will listen to you but also bring his own talents that create your most special evening for friends and family that will never be forgotten.

Oneka was amazing! We were so happy to have her as our DJ for our April 2018 wedding. She was so helpful and professional. Our dance floor was filled the whole night, now that is the sign of a successful wedding. We had a blast! I highly recommend Black Tie Entertainment & Oneka Davis!!

We booked (or so we thought!!!) a DJ through Black Tie Entertainment. We had an initial consultation with them explaining what we were looking for. Our booking rep recommended that we come out that weekend to their Meet the DJ Night. The idea of the event is a great one. From pictures and videos, you cant get a true sense of a DJs style as an MC.The event took place in Woodbridge, VA and was set up like a mock wedding. They had each of the DJs do a brief demo of their style and abilities on the mic for different portions of the wedding. After that is all over, each DJ has a table set up with their calendar showing their available dates. We met with one DJ that we loved and he was available for our date. We signed a hold sheet with him and turned it; the final thing we needed to book for our wedding was completed. That night and the next morning I let the other DJs I had been speaking with know that we went a different direction. Mid-afternoon they sent an email to my fiance letting us know that the DJ we wanted actually wasnt available, but this other guy who is almost $800 more is!They spent all night at their event preaching to us that their professionalism and attention to detail is unmatched. That they will help coordinate your day and the different things that need to take place and announce and organize accordingly. Problem is, they cant read a calendar to know what day is what apparently. When I posed my apprehension to the booking agent, he spent the first paragraph of his email torching his own employee and then continuing to push a DJ on us that I said I did not want. If you are going to claim to me that it was because of his Inexperience as it is his Rookie year, then maybe you should have the owner or some other senior person helping him out to get his feet wet to ensure the calendars are correct. Also, its 2018...why are you still using a piece of paper and just drawing Xs or highlighting to show availability? Use a tablet or something like that so that everyones calendars are updated for them in real time!!!As I look back on the experience I had with them, their behaviors and actions scream anything but professional.1 - You do NOT torch your own employee to a customer, even if you know they messed up. You own that as a company and you back your guy.2 - On more than one occasion during their demo of events, they would introduce one song and play something totally different.3 - When they demoed how great it was that they could control their uplights from a cell phone app, the app wasnt connected to the lights and therefore did nothing. A few awkward moments later, they connected it and were able to show it to everyone in attendance. Also, dont try to sell people like this is some novel thing that you have...everyone with decent stage lights made in the last 3 years has a cell phone app controller.So, now, here we are back at square one. The other DJs I had been talking to are now booked and I am back on the hunt. But Id rather DJ my own wedding or have a friend do it than trust these professionals.

Friendly, Comprehensive and Professional!

You will have nothing to worry about with Black Tie. Besides their DJ service, we used their solo guitarist, photobooth, and uplighting. First, Chase the guitarist was phenomenal. Our guests enthusiastically praised him for his ceremony and cocktail hour music. They really have the ins and outs of this business running like a well oiled machine. Their planning website makes the wedding preparation so much less stressful. More importantly, they kept our guests on the dance floor. They put the fun into our wedding. I couldnt recommend them more high

We just got married on July 25th 2015 (Yay!), and besides an awesome venue & great food, our guests were thoroughly impressed and fell in love with our DJ/MC… Mr. Deon of Black Tie Entertainment. DJ Deon exceeded all expectations! Black Tie Entertainment came highly recommended, and I must say that we now know why! We were lucky to have Deon DJ our event! We couldnt be more pleased with how professional Deon and the Black Tie staff were throughout the entire process. From the very 1st call and meet and greet, well through our planning meetings and on the day before/during our wedding, we were assured all our requests would be met…and they were. One of the most important days of your life like your wedding day, is stressful enough, but because we had such an AMAZING DJ, a lot of the wedding bumps were averted. It is such a relief to have someone truly care about your day as much as you. DJ Deon was charismatic, professional and poised.
